- 5 out of 5 stars review6/28/2023Bought this about 18 months ago after moving to the country. Only ran it a bit for testing after receiving it. But, had to pull it out for real use this past weekend. Everything went as needed. Couldn't immediately find the user guide (in the dark), but had adequate instructions on the gen to remind me. Got is situated; few easy steps to start. It took a couple times at trying to start, but then started running on the third try. That was likely due to some stale gas. But then ran it for several hours to power some needed items for family movie night until the power returned. We were just running extension cords to items to power a couple lights, TV, router (somehow still had internet), and the fridge. We had the unit outside on ou...
Work As Advertised
Grant TOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/16/2021just purchased and put battery and oil in generator. i'm only going to use propane unless there is an extreme emergency. I hooked up propane tank and pressed the button and it started right up. ran it for a couple of hours varring the load with 1000wt /1500 heat gun . It ran great, pretty quiet ,no gasoline exhaust odors, economy mode slowed the engine down on lower power consumption. instructions says the serial number is on the model information label but it is not there. the serial number is only on the box if you haven't already thrown it away. so far so good. GOING FROM PRODUCT REGISTRATION TO REVIEW IS VERY CONFUSING
great features
HENRY JOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review4/17/2021Handles on top of frame work great for team lifting. It is not very loud. All controllers are easy to use. It also comes with a battery tender. Handle and wheels are nice for moving unit. Only draw back is I wanted to run this off my travel trailers propane tanks. I cant hook it into my existing system do to the design of the hook up on the generator hose. It requires a separate tank. If that is not important to you then it is a 5 star unit. Out of all the dual fuel units out there I would still buy this one over the others i looked at,
First Impressions are Good.
Norm1Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/6/2024Had unit shipped to my house. No damage. Unboxed, filled with oil and hooked up to 20lb propane tank. Started with 3-4 pulls. Let run while pulling a load with an electric space heater for 1/2 hr. Quiet. A little heavy but nice collapsable handle to wheel around.
Received with no issues
Goose171518Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/30/2021This is the second Westinghouse generator that I have purchased. The first was an iGen2500 that we used to power our outdoor wedding, many tools on our acreage and our camper. This one is to be paired and used to power our house in case of an outage. It fired up on the first crank and ran like a champ on propane! The setup was just as easy as the first and it runs just as quietly. I didn't even realize it had a collapsible handle for wheeling! What a nice surprise! We love these generators and hope to get years of use from them.
Amazing on Propane
Chris OOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/20/2021So far my experience with this generator has been mostly great. There are only three things that I've noticed so far. 1. When I first started the generator for the first while it kept shutting off after a minute or two. No idea what caused it and I have not had a problem since even when running it for 10-12 hours to keep my camper cool. 2. The protection system is a little funky sometimes. I get that it is important to have the overload protection in place so this isn't exactly a fault of westinghouse but I feel like it engages a little to often. If my AC cycles on and off to fast the inverter trips. This is a little problematic because I was hoping to trust this system with my dogs in the camper however I don't feel safe doing so. ...
Very nice quality and feature rich inverter!
MDK1016Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/5/2022We purchased the iGen4500DF prior to moving to the mountains. I am very happy with the size, how easy it has been to set up and the portability of the unit. It provides great output for power tools and connects directly to our travel trailer. The push button start can take several tries before turning over-hopefully this improves as the unit is used more often.
simple and versitile
lojackOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/13/2021This generator will be an awesome asset to my camping equipment, it's quite and it will run on propane and gas, the remote start is a great addition to this generator. A bit heavier than I expected, but it has wheels and a pull handle. The grab bars on top make it easier to pickup and put in the bed of the truck.
Great features with remote start
ZosimusOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/7/2021I just unpacked my Westinghouse iGEN4500DF generator purchased because another brand failed to start during an ice storm. I returned it ASAP to the company and purchased the 4500DF. I'm only running it on propane. Very easy to set up. No wheels to attach etc. Just filled the oil, which comes in the box and connected the battery clip. It started on the first try and warmed up nicely and quietly. I trust this generator to be ready to run when I need it.
Great dual fuel portable generator!
LoewsOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/12/2019Just purchased so haven't had a lot of use yet but it was very easy to set up with everything supplied that was needed. I added a little gasoline, decided to try the manual start and it started with the first pull! Convenience of electric start is an added bonus. I was able to have a normal conversation with my neighbor who had walked over to see while we were standing only 5 feet away. Duel fuel is a great plus.
Easy to use
RMarOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/19/2021Just received this yesterday. Easy unpacking, and very good startup information. Did all the prep, hooked up the propane, checked the lines, used the starter button and it fired right up! Very quiet generator. Put a load on it which ramped it up slightly, but still nice and quiet. Very pleased so far, can't wait to try it on the RV!
Solid Generator
solo48Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/29/2022Reviews were hit and miss for the 4500i. But it is really impressed me. Remote start is a life saver! Surprisingly quiet which was really nice. With it being all enclosed it can sometimes be a pain to due regular maintenance due to lack of space. Oil changes spark plugs etc. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ARE CLOSE TO AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR PERSON BEFORE PURCHASING!!! There are not any major city's of Kentucky. Closest one to me is 1.5hrs away. Also difficult to find parts I assume it's kept all in house. Other than that overall impressed.
Did it's job hard to get repaired
Dman87Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/7/2021Easy to start, not too big, not very noisy, dual fuel, and comes with a regulator so I can use propane. Just what I was looking for! I'm glad it has both a handle and wheels. At 105 lb, out of the box, It's too heavy for one person to easily pick up.
Great generator.
FrazmtnOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/22/2021Great package featuring quiet operation, remote start, and the advantages of an inverter generator. Started right off the bat after adding oil and gasoline. With the 2021 hurricane season underway, I'm confident that I have a reliable source of emergency power should the need arise. The only caution I'd offer for new buyers is to take care filling the oil. The provided funnel was a great help, but the horizontal fill tube and possibly a little oil in the crankcase resulted in an overflow when the oil (also provided) was added. Luckily, I'd put a few pieces of paper towel under the end of the fill tube and this captured about a tablespoon of oil that leaked out when the funnel was removed and otherwise would hav ended up in the bottom of...
Great generator!
Gary M.Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/25/2024I wanted to wait to leave a review until I had a chance to test and I'm happy with this little thing. It runs my 15,000 btu AC with room to spare. It's light enough to just carry around and it does really well with the economy load and fuel. The digital display is a nice addition and I like that you can turn the lights to see the switches on and off. Overall I'm very happy and glad I picked this one.
Great generator
CoonsOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/31/2019Recently purchased this item from Lowe's. Had it shipped to the store. Only took 2 days to arrive. Took it home, drained the carburator bulb which was basically empty. I only plan on using propane. Added oil, connected battery plug, connected propane and it fired right up. Quiet as advertised.
Great Features
ET23Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/21/2023I just set-up my iGen4500DF. I had to pull start it as the battery was DOA. As a result, I had to open the side panel to manually open the choke as imagine the auto-choke didn't work because of the dead battery. It's in my garage now charging for the night. Hopefully it will remote start, or push-button start, when I test it in the morning :)
Super Quiet
Michael MTLOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/7/2021Bought this a month ago not looking forward to power outages from winter storms. Little did I know a simple 20 mph wind would take out power for 1400 people when a limb fell on the power lines. Easy to use, easy to start, maintains 2 fridges and a deep freeze easily on LPG.
GREAT BUY
Derek0571Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/23/2024I've had this unit about a month haven't used it a lot I put the gas in it oil in it and it cranked started right up the first time. Also hooked it to a propane tank and it worked great . I'm impressed. And it's quiet. Have not had much issue with the carbon monoxide detector I have a camper topper on my truck if I don't pull it out onto the tailgate it will shut off but I have not had an issue when I pull it out to the end of my tailgate. I like the digital display it tells you how much fuel you have left. But will not tell you how much propane left. It also tells you how many hours you have left depending on the water you are using if I was using 1500 watts it would say I had 15 and a half hours left but when I turned it off it would go b...
Works Great
Bigtruck 28Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/13/2022I bought the iGen4500DF, Digitlal Inverter Generator back in January 2022 but did not have a chance to unbox until now(June 2022). I was expecting to allocate couple of hours to get it working. But to my pleasant surprise, All I have to do was put it the oil, connect the battery terminal together and hook up the PROPANE gas line to the generator. First try, press the start button, it fires up and working!! About 15 minutes of work. Noise was slightly lower that what I expected(compare to my next door neighbor's generator). All the features seems to work as advertised! The remote start FOB was great to have!!
easy setup and flexible fuel convience
