- 5 out of 5 stars review7/25/2021Purchased in case of hurricane power loss. Thankfully I have not had to use it yet. I did start it under both propane and gas as fuel. Worked just fine. It was a struggle to free the screw in order to drain the float bowl. Finally got it to turn after a couple application of mystery oil. Should be much easier in the future.
Very Good So Far
QuadropheniaOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/17/2021Spent several weeks researching for a dual fuel generator. Looking for quiet, battery charger capabilities, dual fuel, good warranty, 4500 watts and a fair price point! The iGen 4500DF arrived and read the owners manual, installed the oil, hooked up the battery and it cranked using the start button as well as the fob. Residing in Texas and remembering February 2021 week of no power; now prepared!! Thanks Westinghouse!
Excellent Dual Fuel Generator
willtex1957Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/28/2022This unit is nice! Ton of features and relatively quiet. I did run into an issue where there was a small leak in the bottom of the unit (the drainage hose used for keeping the unit in long term storage). Turns out I needed to tighten a screw after disassembling the generator slightly. I'm excited to use this generator with my travel trailer this season.
Great unit, initial setup required disassembly
KSV123Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/8/2021We just bought this and are so pleased already. It started right up which was a great beginning! It is as quiet as advertised… no louder than one of our old 2000 watt generators and a whole lot quieter than the 5000 watt open frame we had to rent last year. Winter do your worst. We are ready with our new Westinghouse iGen4500DF generator. We are also looking forward to dry camping with it…it is an upgrade over our 2 daisy-chained Champion generators.
Better than advertised!
Fordyce4107Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/16/2022Bought this to power our travel trailer. Has all of the features in one unit that competitors lack (integrated usb, and Dual Fuel!). This thing kicked on first try and ran smoothly. Having the option to run propane or gas and still have one of the largest gas tanks in comparison is what sold us. Great generator. Not AS quiet as I had hoped for, but still much quieter than an open frame.
Has everything!
Ols1Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review11/3/2019Just received the IGen4500DF after reading many positive reviews and following several power outages in two weeks. Set up was very straightforward and started right up on gasoline... haven't tried LP, but like the option. Time will tell how it performs when necessary as backup.
Dual Fuel capability in inverter generator
rudolf0Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 3 out of 5 stars review7/2/2021Well had to be worked on rite out of the box , plug for choke was disconnected , had to remove side covers and front and rear covers also to plug connector in for choke , also sent a faulty regulator with unit , generator runs great after tearing it down to repair it , should not have to work on it straight from the box
Nice generator
Eric59Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/8/2020I researced all of the like generators I could find. had to be invertor, 3,500 watt or better, dual fuel. This one had more features that made it even better. I.E. remote start (yeah), LED data center, parallel capable. So far, I added oil, hooked it up to propane, and hit start on the remote start. It started right off, and shut down as expected with the remote start buttons. after starting again, I plugged my camper in and ran everythink I could run, including the 13,500 air unit. It ran everything easily for about two hours, untill I shut it down. You can tell when the compressor on the ac kicks in, as the startup draw takes a fair amount of juice. The generator reves up, but drops back down quickly as the copressor settles down to norma...
research is over
ruehblOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2021I just set this generator up and tested it out. It started immediately and was quieter than expected. Seeing as how I purchased this for emergencies, I hope to only use it in a testing capacity. After today's test, I have great confidence if it is needed.
So far so good
Ranger RayOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/19/2020Unit delivered promptly after ordering, which given the number of fires and hurricanes happening, I was pleasantly surprised. It was out-of-stock the entire fall of 2019 when I had originally decided to purchase. It still has the most features sought even a year later. The boxed unit as delivered was professionally packaged with all items present and accounted for including oil and remote. Also, a nice manual which I appreciate very much (no need to fire up a printer and download a pdf). Unit itself looks brand new and the overall impression is exactly what I paid for and expected.
Initial Impressions
duxlubberOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/20/2024I bought a couple of months ago and finally set it up. I have the iGen4500DF. This is everything that I wanted in an inverter generator and more. Quieter than I expected and love the remote start. Everything works exactly as expected right out of the box.
Great Generator
JP of SalemOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/26/2021We have yet to fire it up, but all the pieces are there. No issues with parts that we can see. We bought this for our camper and home use if we loose power. This year we have lost power two different times while at a campground, so we are prepared now. Looking forward to the propane option.
So far So good
TINK0784Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/3/2022Upon receipt, opened box. Read instructions. Added oil. Connected battery (large hands WILL get scratches doing this). Connected hose and adapter to propane tank. Turned battery switch on. Pressed remote start button. Cranked for cycle. Generator automatically started second crank cycle and voila! Generator started and runs quiet. Hooked up circular saw and generator handled it well. Overall I am currently satisfied.
Easy Open and Go
Mike1000000Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/11/2023Just bought this and removed it from the box. No damage whatsoever and complete as described. Put the included oil in added gas connected the battery. Hit the start button and it fired right up and ran like a champ. Can't wait to try this compact quiet generator out at a campsite.
Perfect for RVing
Pappys toyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/16/2021We've just received our unit, but so far in testing it, it works just as described! Tested to see the difference in volume between eco and non eco. Eco is definitely a nice option. Love the remote start option. We think this will be a great addition to our camping needs and back up for power outages at our house!
Just as Described
CaptHookOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review1/5/2022Happy with the purchase it replaces a Coleman 5000 which was very loud, this one is very quiet. My only issue is the side panel on the carb side does not sit flush if there was a screw instead of a post in that spot it would be perfect but it hits the carb and pushes it out slight. Only cosmetic so it can be lived with.
So far mostly good, it started right up on propane
The PathfinderOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/27/2022I got this a few weeks ago, just read the manual, I'm gonna try it out tomorrow but in the process of getting it set up I decided to register the product. In order to get the freebie I had to agree to do the review but as noted above I haven't even use the product. These guys should allow one to write the review later on.
I'm forced to review prior to trying it
Harry ShinOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 3 out of 5 stars review7/10/2021The registration card stated the serial number is on the model information label. It's not. I looked all over, including removing the side panel where the carburetor is located. That took about a half hour because the screws were so torqued down I couldn't break them free without finally putting channel locks on a #3 phillips head screwdriver. Is it really necessary to tighten these fasteners so much that they are fused to the frame? I then gave up searching on the machine and instead found the serial number on the cardboard box it came in. I then saw in this on-line registration that the serial number is underneath the muffler on the bottom of the generator. With a mirror I was able to verify that I had the correct serial number. Why would...
Haven't had to use it yet - bought for hurricanes
Curtis HOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/20/2022I purchased the iGen 4500DFc after many hours of research over a 2-week period. I went back and forth between inverters and larger open-frame models. In the end, I decided I don't really need to power a lot of items at once, but I want the capability to power more than just one or two small items. This one fell in between, and when combined with the dual fuel capability, CO sensor, and quiet operation, I knew it was the right choice for me at this time. Power outages are fairly infrequent and short duration in my area, so I hope to never need it. However, I will set it up and maintain it regularly so it will be reliable insurance if it is needed.
Great Insurance!
Bert10202022Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 2 out of 5 stars review7/6/2022The first one I had ran for 8 hours and I shut it off to add fuel and it would not turn over not even with the pull cord the motor seized up. I contacted Walmart and they sent me out a replacement right away and I return the bad one the new one i have had for about a year now and i just took it to the river to run my AC on the camper and in the late afternoon it stopped running i tried to start it and it would not turn over i let it sit and cool down for a few hours and pulled the starter and it pulled free but would not start so i just gave up. A few days later when i got back home I went to try to start it and it fired off just like normal i ran it for 3 hours and it seems to be fine. I believe the generator can not handle running in te...
