The game can be a bit more of a challenge than you might think and the more players you have the more fun it is. And lets face it, its real fun getting to bop folks with that no stick lol.Hours of creativity and enjoyment in store when you get this game. I am going to look into more games from this company.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This had to be one of the funniest games I’ve ever played with my children. You pick cards and have to get your teammates to guess what it is while only talking in one syllable words. While the other team has an inflatable bat to bonk you with if you use more than one syllable, let’s just say my kids couldn’t wait for their parents to mess up so they could give use a bonk. My advice, make sure to do a few practice rounds so you get use to the game, we aren’t use to talking in one syllable and the kids got a little frustrated at first but once the got the hang of it it was game on. This was such a cute game and I can’t wait to have more family nights like this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son has been playing this game with his friends. I love listening to him belt out in laughter and all of his friends. He is 15 years old and they have been playing this game for a few months now. I would have thought they would have moved on to a different game but they all choose this one over all the ones we have.

I took this game to work with me and had my highly educated colleagues play with me during lunch. We laughed so hard that there were tears in our eyes. The gist: give clues to your teammates to guess a word or phrase. The one rule? You can only speak in single syllables, like a Neanderthal. (Ice cream: I eat cold snack in round ***** on top of hard cone. Or something like that.) If you speak in a multi-syllable word, you get whacked with the "NO stick". (An inflatable club.) We all especially loved getting to whack our neighbor when they spoke in multi-syllables. We had such a good time and it went pretty quickly as well. (10 players finished in less than 30 minutes.) The only thing I did not like about it was actually blowing up the club. The plastic sticks together and blowing air went nowhere. I was finally able to separate the plastic enough to get a bit of air in, then it became easier. But also getting the air out proved difficult. The air nozzle isn't the easiest to work with.

Poetry for Neanderthals: This game was beyond hilarious. Trying to give clues with just one syllable words is crazy, you really have to think about what you're saying so you don't get bonked in the head with the inflatable club, or the NO! stick. The game is very easy to set up and learn how to play. There are 2 teams, Team Glad and Team Mad and they each sit in alternating positions around the table. You pick who is going to be the poet and then the poet decides if they want their team to guess the 1 point word (easy) or the 3 point word (hard) and if you guess the 1 point word and still have time, you can go for the 3 point word, but if you mess up, you lose the point and have to place the card on the oops slate. We all found it very challenging NOT to use multiple syllable words and always seemed to get hit on the head with the club which, I think, we all loved the most. You then have Grok's words of love and sad cards where the winning team goes through their poetry cards and picks their 3 favorites and insert the words into the blanks in the poem. The other team has the NO! stick and decide whether to use it based on the quality of the poem. This is completely opional but still quite fun and hilarious. Everything you need is included, you get 200 poetry cards, 90 sec timer, poet point slate, team point slate, inflatable 2ft club, and 20 Grok's words of love and sad cards. There is an additional set of poetry cards that you can buy separately.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family and I have been enjoying this Poetry for Neanderthals game so much! it is so easy to play and it keeps my kids engaged all the time, paying attention to the game. It is not fast-paced but it leaves no time to "look at the phone while I wait for my turn" kind of game. It invites everyone to be clever and think in a different way, which on its own keeps that brain super active. Highly recommend it!

Over this last week while on our volleyball tournament/fall break, we were given the opportunity to enjoy two new party games from Exploding Kittens (Good vs. Evil and Poetry for Neanderthals). We started with Poetry for Neanderthals, and after watching the hilarious, but super easy “video” instructions, we had the absolute BEST time with this game! My kids are still asking almost daily to play it again with more friends, and more game nights are definitely in our future! As you can tell, this game was good for ages 7+, and is going to bring lots of deep, belly laughs! And who doesn’t want an inflatable club to bonk players over the head when they mess up??!! IT.IS.EPIC. We followed up the PfN game with Exploding Kittens Good vs. Evil, and while it was an interesting twist on a familiar strategy game, we couldn’t help but want to go back to Poetry for Neanderthals. We played this the first time during a holiday game night with 9 adults and 1 teenager. This game was so much fun that we literally didn't play any other game that night. We laughed for hours! The next night, my husband and I played it with our teenage sons and they had a blast also. I would definitely recommend this game.

We had a lot fun playing the game, but definitely watch the video first to understand. My kids really liked the no stick part the most. It's surprising how hard it is to describe something with only one syllable words. Would definitely be a lot of fun with a bigger group of players and maybe a game with some drinks.

I mean, the opportunity to whack people with a big, inflatable bat is just about every kid's dream come true. We played this game with just the three of us, we played this game with neighbors, we played this game at Christmas with a giant group. It is SO much fun. It's easy to learn, but oddly challenging to only speak monosyllabically. Big hit (pun intended) at our house!
