We had a chance to try out Poetry for Neanderthals with family and friends, and had a blast with it. It's very similar to Taboo, but with a couple of fun twists such as only using one-syllable words and bonking people on the head with an inflatable club if you make a mistake. It was fun for kids and adults, and the game can be as long or as short as you have time for. It's another great game from the same company that makes Exploding Kittens.

The inflatable bat is funny and entertaining. We've played with a couple of friends and the game is definitely more interesting on the second bottle of wine. A LOT OF FUN

This game was beyond hilarious. Trying to give clues with just one syllable words is crazy, you really have to think about what you're saying so you don't get bonked in the head with the inflatable club, or the NO! stick. The game is very easy to set up and learn how to play. There are 2 teams, Team Glad and Team Mad and they each sit in alternating positions around the table. You pick who is going to be the poet and then the poet decides if they want their team to guess the 1 point word (easy) or the 3 point word (hard) and if you guess the 1 point word and still have time, you can go for the 3 point word, but if you mess up, you lose the point and have to place the card on the oops slate. We all found it very challenging NOT to use multiple syllable words and always seemed to get hit on the head with the club which, I think, we all loved the most. You then have Grok's words of love and sad cards where the winning team goes through their poetry cards and picks their 3 favorites and insert the words into the blanks in the poem. The other team has the NO! stick and decide whether to use it based on the quality of the poem. This is completely opional but still quite fun and hilarious.Everything you need is included, you get 200 poetry cards, 90 sec timer, poet point slate, team point slate, inflatable 2ft club, and 20 Grok's words of love and sad cards.Everyone will love this challenging game and have so much fun playing it, I definitely recommend adding this to your game night.

Poetry for Neanderthals is a great group game! I played with a group of girls and we all really enjoyed it. It feels so difficult at first, but you get into a groove and really enjoy it the more you play! The blow-up club is obviously a fun addition too!

I received a free sample of the game and expansion through tryazon for my review. I played this with friends and neighbors and it was fun. My SO is dyslexic and it was a bit challenging for him. It was a lot more challenging coming up with poems with words with one syllable than I thought it would be but it was fun hitting people with the no stick.

We loved this game! Fun for a lot of ages. The 30-somethings in the group had the most fun with this! It is similar to games like catch phrase but the 1- syllable rule makes this game stand out as unique. The two player version was even really enjoyable.

Over this last week while on our volleyball tournament/fall break, we were given the opportunity to enjoy two new party games from Exploding Kittens (Good vs. Evil and Poetry for Neanderthals). We started with Poetry for Neanderthals, and after watching the hilarious, but super easy “video” instructions, we had the absolute BEST time with this game! My kids are still asking almost daily to play it again with more friends, and more game nights are definitely in our future! As you can tell, this game was good for ages 7+, and is going to bring lots of deep, belly laughs! And who doesn’t want an inflatable club to bonk players over the head when they mess up??!! IT.IS.EPIC. We followed up the PfN game with Exploding Kittens Good vs. Evil, and while it was an interesting twist on a familiar strategy game, we couldn’t help but want to go back to Poetry for Neanderthals. It is great for kids and adults alike however it can be a fun drinking game. The goal is to guess what the person is describing using only one syllable words. We played it that if anybody used more than one syllable we bumped him on the head with the inflatable club. Lots of laughs and a great fun game.

Poetry for Neanderthals is everything I want in a party game. It’s for ages 7+ so almost all of the family can play and it can be played with 2+ players. The game play is very quick with most games lasting 15 minutes or so. You must speak good or get hit with a stick! It is just so much fun that everyone should try it.
