It is a relatively small box so easy to pack for car trip. This game is sooo much fun. My kids are 18 and 19 and their boyfriend and girlfriend had so much fun playing it with me and my wife. It has a cute little blow up wood like club that a Neanderthal would have carried. You can spend hours enjoying this game. If you enjoy board games or card games or just good family fun this is a game for you. I recommend you put this in your game room or game selection and a must to travel with. We laughed so much with this game and will play it many more times with new friends!

We loved the Poetry for Neanderthals game. A fun, family friendly game. We will definitely be adding this to our family game night. You pick teams and one person give clues to guess a word or phrase. You must use o e syllable words to give clues. If you use more than one syllable words or use gestures you get hit witb an inflatable bat.

It really challenges you to use your imagination and there is the slight bit of gentle violence when you get to hit someone with the NO! Stick. And that makes everyone laugh and have even that much more fun! It’s simple, but uses your creativity and it’s easy to get everyone involved for a fun game night.

You're only allowed to give clues using one syllable words and if you mess up, the other team gets to bonk you with the club! The kids loved that part the most! This game is an absolute hit for the whole family!

He is 15 years old and they have been playing this game for a few months now. I would have thought they would have moved on to a different game but they all choose this one over all the ones we have.

Loved this so much! My grandsons had a ball hitting me and their Papa on the head! Just trying to think of a one syllable word is difficult and then getting whacked in the head by your grandson is hilarious. I would definitely recommend getting this game for your family to play at family game night.

It’s so easy, a caveman could do it (…geico commercials, anyone? anyone?) The game play is easy to learn. Use one syllable word clues to get your team to guess the word on the card. Very similar concept to taboo or catch phrase or $25,000 pyramid or password. The twist on this game is that the clues must be only one syllable words. But in playing it ended up just saying sentences and phrases with smaller words, poor grammar, and much of the time it was easier with just calling out clue words. And instead of a taboo buzzer (…Four Christmases was such a good movie…) , you hit the person with an inflatable club with the word No on it. (Kind of like in season 1 of Family Guy and Brian hits Peter with the newspaper saying, “No!”). The kids loved the club hitting part. The box description doesn’t completely match the gameplay. In the game play people generally didn’t say parts of the word or other illegal clues, so having only one person from the other team call out when multiple syllable used, turned into everyone on the other team calling out the cluegiver. The point of sitting on alternate chairs with other team just makes for easier hitting with the club. Eventually, we rarely ended up using the club as everyone pretty much stopped using anything but one syllable words. Really, the only reason for having cards in the negative point pile was when clue giver would pass. At game end, the winning team ends up doing a Neanderthal poetry reading from their winning cards discard pile. Basically a short 3 word Mad-Lib. Typically not very funny and generally useless for gameplay. Very few of these in the box and would be more fun if they affected gameplay more and if there were more poetry cards. The game board was also pretty unnecessary. It was easy enough after each round to tally points for that team. Ultimately if playing again would just take a pack of cards and leave the rest. All in all it was fun and everyone had a good time.

This game is fun. I read the instructions, but it took a few examples runs for all players to understand how it works. No big deal, an extra 2 minutes. Once the game started, the most fun aspect was getting hit by the giant inflatable club. This game is excellent for families and children old enough to understand syllables. We did girls vs. boys, and let's say cavemen stunk. We had a blast and as the game progressed the player became more creative in describing their words.
