Good addition to my kitchen family

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the KitchenAid Compact Oven to reduce energy usage. It does what it's mean to do - it cooks food to my satisfaction. There's a learning curve with cook timing and temperature. There's not an exact match to product cooking instructions. I've found that my oven runs hotter than my regular size gas oven. Preheating takes five minutes. Also on the learning curve is remembering to turn the oven back on after preheating. To start the preheat function you turn the oven timer on. When the timer dings, the oven turns off. Simple enough to remember you have to set the timer to turn the oven back on to cook food, I've forgotten a few times, though. I use a freestanding timer when I cook (so I can take it with me throughout the house) so it's not intuitive for me to turn the stove's timer on to turn it back on. The crumb tray is a big helper in keeping the oven clean.

Burns all my food

Bought this oven about a year ago and it has never cooked anything right. I'm an avid baker and never have I burned food so bad. I had adjusted the temperature down just to compensate for the fact that this is convection but everything burned but the inside of the food is still not cooked fully. I suspected the temperature of the oven is off so I actually checked with a laser thermometer and found the oven to be over 500F when I set it to 350F. Because of this I have only used the oven 4-5 times since I bought it.

So far okay

I have just gotten the toaster and can't give too many details. It does much like the other reviews. I find you need to select the toasted preference to at least medium to get what I call a light toast. I have only used it for toast right now, but will say it does not get very hot using it this way. If baking for a longer time it might get hot on the outside. It is a bit slow to make toast due to having to select a darker position for normal toast.

Right size

Like the size..big enough to do cooking/baking but fits the same footprint as my old one. Lower wattage than many which I prefer and very competitive price. Only dislike is timer ticks which I guess I will forget after time. No light in oven either like my previous one.

Not Good Quality

Disappointed. For $108.00 I expected it to be nicer. It is flimsy and has a tiny fan blowing inside which they call "convection." It's nothing but a toaster oven and I am disappointed in the quality of it. Won't buy Kitchenaid products again. There needs to be a light inside and there is not.

Great Oven

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I looked at many ovens to replace a smaller unit. This was a great choice and a sound investment. Dont believe the negative reviews, they are not representative of the quality and usefulness of this oven.

Spacious inside.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought six months ago, and was surprised that I could cook a whole chicken in it, just had to experiment with how long took cook the chicken for. Cooked a 4 1/2 pound chicken for 2 hours at 375 degrees, came out of the oven moist not dry "perfecto"!

Great until it wasn't

I loved this compact oven (it looks great on our countertop) but then the dial that allows you to switch between bake, broil, etc. stopped working so now it's basically useless. We did use it often and I will say that it bakes evenly and broils nicely. But we only had the oven for a year and a half and I expected much better quality from KitchenAid.

Not a good first impression

After some concerted research, bought this Toaster Oven for our new home. Thought we'd give KA a chance since the home came with all upgraded KA major appliances, and we wanted to be consistent. The joy didn't last, as the toaster oven lost complete toast in less than 5 months! Although the return/replace process was fairly simple and easy, we are now on a second unit. In the time we've had these units, our assessment is this, the unit is not designed well and does not function as well as other brands. The toast function is frustrating as it takes a long time to get golden brown and it does not brown evenly on both sides! If you don't watch it, it will go from golden brown to burnt in no time! The timer is useless as lite/med/dark are not true indicators of actual outcome. The egg timer dial is annoying and dated (don't try to make toast with the rest of the family sleeping!). The bake and broil settings seem ok and have served well for the few items we bake. Caution: the unit gets very hot on the outside! That aspect plays into the most disconcerting aspect as my wife and I have burned our fingers/hands and arms more than a few times as the front door design is aweful. The front door handle is large and therefore the door does not open flat! With the door angled up a bit, as you reach in to take out your food, there are numerous touch points on the inside door and especially the edges (rims) of that very same door. BE CAREFUL! Although we now have a brand new (2nd) model we'll see how long this lasts. Pretty certain though that it'd be tough to recommend this unit to anyone else. KA... are you listening?

I LOVING MY OVEN!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I purchased this oven in early December, 2018 and it lives up to everything we were looking for in a toaster oven. The ease of use for this oven is so much better then the other brand (I won't mention the brand here) we returned, before we purchased this one, that I don't know why we didn't get this one first! No complicated instructions are necessary and it does exactly what it says it will do. We make baked potatoes, both russets and sweets, broil small lobster tails, bake salmon and other fish in it, great for reheating foods, and keeping food warm til ready to eat and it makes toast just right! There is not much more I can say except if you are in the market for a toaster oven that is easy to use and lives up to performance, this is a great buy at a great price!!
