Efficient baking!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love all the features of this “convection “ compact oven including all of the shelf adjustments, the controls for toasting and timer for baking! The size of the oven is just right and we are baking more items than we did with a previous compact oven. It saves on energy rather heating up our regular oven.

Nice product, a couple warts

I bought this toaster/oven a few weeks ago. So far so good. I have one observation and one concern: 1. It toasts slowly, and seems unable to give a really dark result. One may need to add more toasting time after the bell for additional color. 2. It smells. I'd seen other owners comment on the odor burn in time... Ours continues to emit considerable odor if it gets well-heated (smells like wire insulation getting cooked). To assuage my own curiosity, I got bold and opened the unit. The attached photo shows the insulation used on top -- with some of it turning darkened. It also wreaks of the very hot insulation smell. The insulation appears not to be FiberGlass -- but some synthetic fiber. I'm going to look into replacing that with true FiberGlass (after I check for the thermal tolerance of the substitute material).

Great oven

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this a couple months ago, exactly what I wanted in a compact oven. I use it every day to toast bread and cook frozen meals. It's also nice that it's just the right size to use for casseroles and medium sized trays (works great for chicken breasts!). Easy to clean with the crumb tray that pulls out of the bottom. Overall am excellent quality oven, I rarely use my full sized oven because this heats up so much faster, and it's more energy efficient.

Effective but loud

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this toaster oven for about 4 months and it works really well, heats up quickly and the temperature is fairly accurate, but it has become rather loud over the last month or so. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

works well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This compact oven works just like a regular oven. Other toaster ovens I have purchased were only good for toast. This oven bakes, broils and toasts very well. The only negative thing is that it takes longer to warm up than other toaster ovens.

Great oven for about 2 years

My family found this countertop oven to be pretty solid while it lasted, but we were ultimately very disappointed by its short lifetime. After about 2 years it started heating only intermittently on all settings, and eventually stopped working all together. It was great while it lasted and replaced our full-sized oven for about 75% of the time, but it's totally unacceptable for a small appliance from a brand like KitchenAid (with a KitchenAid price tag) to only last 2 years. One other minor annoyance is the extremely loud clicking noise of the timer counting down on both the toast function and timed baking/broiling/warming. But I could definitely put up with that noise if the thing actually worked.

Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the automatic shut off and the Bing to let you know when your meal is done. The only thing that disappointed me was the short cord. That meant I had to move it to a different location than what I originally planned, and that meant I had to move other things as well. Not my favorite solution as I have a very small kitchen, but I still love the oven!

Easy-to-use controls

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking to replace a previous compact oven and found this one on sale. Really like the two shelves and the large, easy-to-use control knobs. First time to use, the oven smelled like burnt plastic (I mean pulled everything out of the oven to see if I had missed some type of plastic part, but no) but that has since gone away. I do wish that a flat tray/mini cookie sheet had been included but I can use the previous oven's bakeware. Pros: Larger oven size Two separate shelves Easy-to-use control knobs Cons: No baking sheet Smell upon initial use Seems to cook a little cool (but that could be I just didn't have the temperature exactly at the correct setting). Overall, pleased with the purchase.

Covered heating elements-a plus and two racks.

Kco253cu. I noticed while still packaged that the door was not right. I agree with the other reviews that the placement of the door (gap) was obvious. Hope it does not impact the desired temperature to remain even throughout cooking. Kitchen Aid is a very desired brand but, something went wrong with the design of the door with this model. No instruction manuel for product found in box. Is there one?

Can't live without it !

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is my second KitchenAid Compact Oven. Admittedly when I wore out my first one, I tried a competing brands version of a convection oven. There was no comparison. I returned the competitors product and purchased this one again. I use it pretty much daily. I honestly don't know why more people don't have one !
