New Reciple is HORRIBLE

I used Country Crock since I was very young and always enjoyed it. The recent recipe change tastes terrible. I don't understand why they had to go messing with something that for many years was consistent, great tasting, and almost a staple at my dinner table. I have switched to real butter with canola oil spread.

Goodness, what a disappointment.

Honestly, this is the first food review I've ever done so I apologize if it's long. I grew up with Country Crock, tried other brands as I'd gotten older, but none other seemed to compliment food quite like this butter. Just today I went grocery shopping and noticed the container was changed, fine by me. Grabbed the "original" recipe and went about my shopping. I have a 3 yr old son who recently became an extremely picky eater, and one staple I can depend on is toast with butter. He took one bite and told me "No. Mommy, I do not like this." At first I thought, "Oh god, here we go again". Exasperated, I tried a bite and was about to tell him it was fine when I realized he was right. The toast was extremely soggy and had a metallic taste. Looked at the container which stated "Simple New Recipe." Well, that solved that. I'll keep an eye out for the old recipe at other grocery stores, but after 29 years, time to find a new brand.

New Simple Recipe is awful!

We've used the original country crock for years. Bought the 'New Simple Recipe'. It tastes absolutely horrible!!! Even when we put it in a frying pan to cook with it, the smell was horrible! We've always loved the original country crock. We've used it for over 15 years. We will stop buying this product and will try something else. We just can't stand the taste of it.

Bring back the REAL original

I used to put country crock on everything. I loved it more than regular butter. This new original formula is the absolute worst! It makes it seem like the butter is sour. I wish they didn't mess with the original flavor and in turn created a new flavor for this horrible excuse for butter. I'm so heartbroken, I can never have the delicious taste of the REAL original country crock ever again. Won't be buying this again.

New Country Crock

Clever move changing the shape of the container. However changing the recipe and still saying original was not RIGHT! The new country crock smells and tastes nasty. This was a huge mistake. Bring back the REAL original!!!!!!!!! Raise the price but don't change the recipe. This will become your "New Coke" as far as my family is concerned.

To give it 1 star is generous!

I kept thinking I was buying my Country Crock original that I've always used. This junk tastes terrible!!!!! I agree with every single reviewer....why change what isn't broken? I'm thankful I just hadn't ruined my baking using this new and in your eyes improved version. I hope you listen to the reviewers and bring back the old stuff and learn your lesson....don't mess with it again. Till then.....I'm throwing this awful product in the trash and switch brands.

Loved the previous recipe

I used to be a huge fan of Country Crock, but I no longer like the new recipe. It does not melt right, and the flavor is off. Bring back the old version. We will all be happier for it. I received (or will receive) compensation/free product for my unbiased review.

It tastes so awful now, so sad :(

This was the only and best tasting butter my stomach/colon could hand due to inflammatory bowel disease and it was great for all the years I have been able to eat it until the recipe was changed. I can't even get it down, the new taste makes me gag. I'm so utterly crushed by this, as it was the only option I had. No one in my family likes this new taste either. Tastes so off. Goodbye Country Crock Original... hope someone in charge one day brings back the old taste.

Please, change it back!

I don't have an old container to compare the ingredient list to, but the new recipe tastes absolutely horrid. It has almost a cheese-like flavor. I've tried using it for my scrambled eggs, and it ruined them with the over-powering flavor. I put it on my toast, and stuck the toast in the microwave to melt it in, like I have in the past, and it doesn't soak in. It just separates and sits on top, looking gross. I've also used it in a box of Pasta Roni garlic and olive oil vermicelli, and the pasta was very oily in concentrated spots. I couldn't even taste the garlic over the terrible margarine flavor. I'm highly disappointed with the recipe. I even stocked up on two tubs of the stuff, and don't know how I'll make it through both of them. This upsets me, because Country Crock was the only spread I liked. I've used them for roughly 15 years. I can't even think of a decent substitute.
