This thing is even better than I thought. The amount of negative reviews surrounding this and other ice makers made me very, very cautious. Sending this away for my daughter to use at college in a hot state and she insisted on clear ice. This machine is NOT that noisy and makes perfect ice. Ran it for a few weeks before sending her off to college and we loved it. I would recommend this machine to anyone. The black stainless looks really nice.

So far, so great!. This thing has been turning out the ice. The ice drops into the bin which is not a freezer compartment. BUT, the melting is kept to a minimum because it is the same compartment that makes the ice so the compartment is cold. And has been mentioned, any water from the melted ice is reused to make more ice. Noise is not an issue and yes, there is noise when the ice drops into the bin. but it is not very loud. I don't know if it will make 40 pounds a day, but it makes a lot, the ice is cube shaped and mostly clear. This thing is without a doubt a keeper. I have only had it two weeks so the only question is longevity.

I bought this ice machine as a Christmas gift so I cannot report on its performance. I selected this particular ice maker because it claims to make clear square ice cubes that last longer than the cloudy pellet ice made by other makers. I hope the machine itself is a bit smaller than the box. It is also quite heavy. I feel I sacrificed the sleek look of a counter machine for performance. Lets hope so because who wants ice that melts quickly, right?

I ordered a smaller cheaper model before ordering this one, but it never made a single cube of ice so it was returned. However, I did learn about “clear” ice so I decided to pay a little more and buy a clear ice machine. I’m happy with this machine overall for the price. It’s a little slow but it does the job. I guess it would make 40 pounds in a day if you stayed up for 24 hours, but I just run it for a few hours and put the ice in big freezer bags in the garage freezer to stockpile it. It does, as others say, make ice in a sheet but it’s easily broken apart with the included scoop. I use tap water for the medical ice machine, and bottled water for drink ice cubes.

This is a great ice maker. Yes, it is a little noisy…but it’s making ice. Love that it makes cube ice like Starbucks uses for their ice drinks. The ice does fall into ice bucket, but doesn’t break up, so you have to do that. I wish the ice tray was metal instead of plastic to avoid possible breaking when using provided scoop. Will look at instruction manual to see if you can adjust thickness. Overall, I am very happy with this unit and would recommend.

Beats ANY fridge ice maker! We use filtered water from our kitchen faucet Waterdrop brand filter and this machine makes the best tasting, clear ice cubes - and i mean CUBES - outside of the best restaurants. Clear ice lasts longer, tastes so much better and looks fantastic! Don't bother with the machines that make the white bullet-shaped ice that stinks and melts when you look at it. They may be cheaper but if you really want 40 lbs of perfect ice every day, shut your fridge ice maker off and get this machine! Fantastic!! Never buy ice again, and get the BEST!

Very glad I bought this, it sure beats filling ice trays every day, or running out of ice altogether. Just add water to the reservoir, turn it on, and you'll have a batch about every 20 minutes. It's pretty quiet and makes small clear cubes. The machine makes ice, but does not keep ice; you have to transfer it to a container in your freezer or it will eventually melt. So far very happy with it.

Compared to our old "bullet" style icemaker, the EFIC452 is superior in every way. With the setting for the largest ice, the ice ends up being almost (but not quite) a perfect cube. The hollow space in the middle is minimal, which means that if you are transferring this to the freezer, the actual ice per volume is very high The ice iteself comes out in "sheets" so as it makes ice, the sheets stack on top of each other So the ice bin is actually completely full of ice by the time it trips the "ice full" shut-off. (The old bullet icemaker would fill the tray at an angle so it was just over half full and it would stop making ice) With the timer, you can set it to turn on in the morning so that it's already full of ice when you wake up. It makes ice so fast that it really doesn't have to run that long (the bullet style had serious trouble keeping up) Cleaning - Since the water constantly runs while making ice, no "self-cleaning" feature is needed. Just put in a 50/50 vinegar/water solution and let it make a batch or two of ice. The constant flow of cleaning solution takes care of most of the cleaning for you. (rinse thoroughly afterward to prevent vinegar-tasting ice) The only con really is that the "sheets" of ice that come out have to be broken up. I just tap them with the back end of a butter knife. The lower settings for ice-size are easier to break up

Works great very quiet except when the ice falls into the tray . We have had this over a month use it every couple of days to make ice. We put the ice in the freezer for my husbands thermos for work. I use the ice for my cold drinks during the day its great!

This ice maker performed just as it was advertised. I tried using two types of water, first I used Tap water the ice came out clear with a little cloudiness in the center. Then I tried processed water(bottle water) the ice cubes came out crystal clear. I am very happy with this ice maker.
