Self reporting mouse trap
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is really a cool idea. I really liked that it would notify you if you had a mouse in the trap. The wireless setup is a bit involved and can be confusing and frustrating but I got it all working. I am pretty rodent adverse so I take steps well in advance of winter to insure no little buddies are moving in. So I knew there were no mice in my house so I put the trap in my garden shed. The trap was there 72hrs with no results but it did report the battery life so I knew it was working. From there I moved it to my barn thinking surely it will find one there. Nope, I did too good of a prep job I guess no mice to catch. So I can't report on that aspect of it. But the wireless part really works well as best as I could determine.
Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Definitely liking the concept of this. It was easy to setup and setup was pretty quick. I read the instructions so i already had my hair ready. It says in the instructions if setup is not finished in five minutes you have to start over but the trap connected to my WiFi easily. It required batteries which were easy to install as well as the bait. You have to download the app before you start to setup the trap. I think the trap is supposed to electrocute the mouse but I haven't had one to get in the trap yet and unlike other reviewers I haven't had any false kill notifications. It's easy to open the app and check to see what's going on with the trap. It even has the battery life displayed. It says you don't have to touch the dead mouse to dispose of it you just open the door and drop it in the trash which is a big plus for me because disposal is the part I hate the most.
it should work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well I have had this trap now for just under three weeks. I do not usually have a mouse problem, but maybe once a winter a mouse may leave droppings somewhere I can see them as I live in the country. I then bait a trap and usually within a day or two I check the trap and there is a mouse. I baited this trap just as I got it, but now after about 17 days I have no mouse... not that I expected one. The trap is pretty high tech considering it will notify me via email that a mouse has been trapped and dispatched electronically. Maybe if it just started an LED light flashing, or emitted a shriek like a fire alarm does when the battery is failing would be enough. But setup was quick and easy and after install 4 batteries and baiting with peanut butter, I set it and waited. So far no mouse, but I don't think it is the trap's fault, as there may be no mouse in my house to catch. It seems safe for pets, and humane to the mouse and easy to dump the dead mouse in the trash.
simple set up...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Victor Smart Kill mouse trap from the Spark Reviewer Program. Every Winter we encounter at least 1 mouse, always in the garage. In the past we have used sticky pads, and poison granules. I don't like actually finding/seeing the dead mouse, stiff and frozen somewhere in my garage. I thought this would be a better way to trap a mouse. You are supposed to receive a notification when a mouse is trapped. PLease note this trap WILL STILL WORK if you choose not to download the app. My son dowloaded the "Victor Pest App" on my phone. It was quick and easy. You will need 4 double A batteries for the trap. After you are connected to the trap you should place the trap relatively close to your wifi. Mine apparentley was not close enough because I received a notification on my phone saying "the connection had been lost for at least 24 hours". You are also supposed to make sure your 4 double A batteries are brand new, have full strength, etc. The app wil send you a notification when your batteries are running low on juice! We put a dab of peanut butter in the trap. As of now we have not seen nor caught a mouse. I have relocated the trap so we don't lose connection again and had to replace the batteries. There's more "maintenance" with this kind of trap, but I do prefer this way over sticky pads and mouse poison.
Didn't work in my situation
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't have the capability of putting the trap where it needed to go and getting a strong enough WIFI signal there. I can not comment on whether or not it actually does what it claims to.
got them
was a bit skeptical about this product but I decided to give it a try glad I did for two nites straight cought two mice don't know if their is more have not seen none yet hope to catch them all
Unable to connect
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to use this trap on a covered porch to trap a mouse but the instructions says to use indoors only. The trap seems like an easy, clean and safe way to trap mice even though after several attempts I could never get it to connect to my wifi for notifications. I placed the trap inside a storage building but after 2 weeks no catch. I really wanted this to work with wifi notifications so that I wouldn't have to monitor it but I will continue to watch and see if it traps a mouse and hopefully not attract insects.
A smart and humane way to dispose of mice
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have mix feelings about the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap. I understand that we are in the “modern” technology age where a simple mouse trapping needs to be monitored electronically. Victor, a great brand for years have been developing ways to catch rodents or pest safely and effectively. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is a mousetrap that is electronically linked to your smartphone. So whenever you catch a mouse or the trap is low on battery, it notifies you on your smartphone. I think you can add convenience as part of the feature for the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap.. Welcome to the modern age. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is easy to set-up. The trap itself comes complete – no assembly required. There no complicated parts to put together or require special tools to assemble. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap comes with an easy-to-follow instruction manual to properly set the mousetrap and your smartphone. Please note that you will need a WiFi connection to set-up the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap. You will also need to download the Victor Pest app in order to use and sync the mousetrap to your phone. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap kills by using electric shock. So there are no mess, no blood, or no pieces to clean. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap requires 4 AA batteries, which are not included in the package. This mousetrap humanely disposes of mice. To be honest, it took less than 5 minutes to set everything up – it's that easy. Once everything is set, you can open the compartment and place your bait inside. Place the mousetrap to a specific location and then wait. That's it! The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is effective. The first night I laid the trap it worked. I got notified on my smartphone about the catch. It was just easy to remove the dead mouse inside the compartment and reset the trap. I was also at a conference meeting at work when my phone notified me that there was another catch. Everybody at the meeting wanted to know what was that. I have to apologize for the inconvenience and turned off my phone. Then I realized, as effective as the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap, do I really need to be bothered with important stuff at work or having fun like watching movies or hanging out with friends just to be notified that I caught a mouse? Now I'm wondering as smart as this mousetrap is, I do not think it needs to be that smart to be a part of my everyday activity. Don't get me wrong, the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is a wonderful idea. A very effective way of safely disposing of mice in your house. As full of excitement I was with this mousetrap, it came to realize that there are things that I should have thought about before like putting the phone on silence or just bypassing the notification and manually check the mousetrap as soon as I get home. I believe this is something that you need to consider before jumping into this new electronic mousetrap. Overall, the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is a great and smart way to get rid of mice in your house. The instruction and the set-up for the mousetrap are easy to do. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is one of the highlights I talk about with friends and family whenever they come over for a visit. I did not see any particular concern about the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap. Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap effectively dispose of mice without ripping them apart. No mess. The Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap did exactly what was promised – to monitor, to catch, and to notify. This is a great mousetrap for all those who are “tech gurus”. I recommend the Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap to all. Try it and see the difference.
Mouse Trap via smart phone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Victor Smart-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap is a really cool electronic mouse trap that requires a smart device (e.g. phone, tablet, mobile device) to be used. However, call me old-fashion, but I am not sure if I'm going to be getting another one of these. I prefer the old traditional mouse traps, simply because it is quick and easy (the sticky pad ones). For this mouse trap, there are a lot of steps that you have to do to install it before you can actually use it. For example, first you got to get batteries for this mouse trap. Next you got to download an app on your smart phone. Then you got to connect the trap to your smart device via wifi (and we know how wifi connection can be difficult at times). In addition, you got to also purchase your own bait to put into this mouse trap. Basically, the concept of this mouse trap is really cool. However, the practicality (daily use, convenience, etc.) just seems too bothersome to use (in my opinion). I prefer to just get the traditional mouse traps from stores (the sticky ones with food pellets embedded into the trap itself), open the package, and then just place it wherever I need it to be placed. But on the other hand, if you are really tech savy, you might actually really like this mouse trap.
No reason to kill the mouse. Why not make it optional to just trap the mouse and not kill it?
