We both found this variety to be bolder and more tart than the Red Blend we tried previously. It was very good and I’ve recommended these Robert Mondavi Private Selection wines to my family and friends. #ripplestreet and #robertmondavi

I thought it paired well with a sharp cheddar, praline pecans, pesto pasta with tomatoes and avocado toast. I didnt think this paired well with either grapes or apples.

It was very good on the nose, and a bit of an afterbite that was pleasant, bold and a good combination of flavor.

The sweetness pairs well with spicy foods like the jalapeño and butternut squash mac and cheese that I served it with. It would also be fabulous with a baked brie accompanied by chutney or charcuterie. It has great notes for both a dinner and dessert wine. The bourbon barrel aging adds an intriguing spiciness that would go well in a sangria or mulled wine.
