When changing a dog’s diet, it’s important to transition gradually over 7–10 days to help avoid digestive upset. Start by mixing about 10% of the new food with 90% of the current food. Each day, increase the amount of the new food while decreasing the current food until the transition is complete. This gradual process helps prevent issues such as refusal to eat, vomiting, or diarrhea that can occur with sudden diet changes.
