We've always had serious issues with Mosquitos,wasps, hornets and Yellowjackets, to the point where we didn't want sit outside. We were constantly finding nests in light fixtures, under patio furnitures, etc. We tried sticky traps and other methods to control the bugs, with limited success. Then we got our first DynaTrap. I placed it near our front porch, about 15-20 feet from the porch. We also followed advice from some reviewers: LEAVE IT ON 24/7. It is only a small fan and special LED light. Plug it in, leave it on, give it a few days... WOW! What a difference! Now we only experience a couple of Mosquitoes a day if any. Sometimes we'll go several days without seeing any. This has worked so well for us, we enjoy spending time outside on our porch again. These lanterns are not magic. You can't just turn them on and expect the bugs to disappear. Turn on, leave on, and they can be very effective.

Received the Dynatrap a little over a week ago. Wanted to see how it performed before I reviewed it. My biggest problem with it is you have to place it near an electrical outlet. Since I don’t feel comfortable using an extension cord it needs to be placed near our home which is were we are when outside so it doesn’t really work for us. The unit itself does help with the mosquitos but definitely want a unit that does not plug into an outlet.

The box looked pristine yet the device fell apart literally as I was taking it out of the box. The caging is made of thin plastic with four incredibly thin, molded clips holding the base on. All for clips were broken off or broken and hanging straight out of the box.

I like that this can be used indoors and outdoors and it comes with replacement bulbs. Easy to turn on and off and easy to clean out since it dries out the bugs. I have artificial grass in my patio, which my dog uses, so flies come around no matter how much I clean / hose down the turf. I put this by my sliding glass door and since then I have not had 1 fly inside my house. It seems like they are not hanging around my patio either. The instructions say to put this far from where you’ll be, but it needs power so I ended up putting it by the door.

This was a replacement for the one that only worked for 1 month last year..... started this new one up and only lasted 2 days...... can't take it back because it was a replacement...... don't waste your time and money. Would love a reply FROM Dynatrap!!!!

I bought this a few weeks ago and was very impressed to see it work as well as it did. Supposedly mosquitos aren't attracted to UV light, and the bulb outputs negligible CO2, but in practice this trap works just as claimed. Mosquitos come to the CO2 scent and light (heat?) and get sucked into the trap as intended. It's not a perfect solution for mosquitoes - you need to combine efforts - but it's been pulling in about 30+ per night every night that we've run it. You need to combine efforts when countering mosquitoes, it won't get all of them, but it cuts them way down allowing your other mosquito prophylactics (citronella, DEET, Picaridin, etc.) to work almost 100%. It also cuts them down enough for you to be outside for a while without encountering them at all, even without other protection. YOU NEED TO PERIODICALLY INSPECT AND CLEAN THE FAN!!! Larger bugs (moths/beetles) can get stuck on the fan blades causing the fan to become jammed and struggle to run after a while. If left unchecked this will destroy the fan motor. Lots of reports of fan issues with these, but I found that making sure the fan is cleared of obstructions keeps it running smooth.

Description I read said this unit works on flies. Not one fly was taken by this unit in a week.

Placed it in ideal location according to directions...heavy mosquito area. I left it on for weeks. No reduction in mosquitos and the basket on had a few moths. Move it with the same unproductive results.

We had one last summer for a few months and it quit working. We blamed it on a small frog. We bought a replacement for this year and it lasted less than 30 days. I will not waste my money again. Great concept, very poor quality for the $$.
