I have purchased these eggs as well as many other brands including Vital eggs. In comparison, Vital eggs are good but these eggs are every bit as good at half the cost. You want "Pasture" eggs, as that is the gold standard for eggs where the chickens have the opportunity to eat worms, bugs and seeds. Packages of eggs that say cage free, organic or free range can mean many different things and often be deceiving.

Not real pasture raised eggs, Sams is being deceiving The minimum space requirements are less than 1 square foot per bird. The term “Pasture-Raised” is not regulated by the USDA and is a marketing term used solely to confuse consumers. This marketing term dupes many consumers into believing that hens are on pasture-all day. Because it’s not a regulated term, anyone can slap “pasture-raised” across their egg carton. Sams is loosely using the phrase "Pasture Raised". The certification they use is "American Humane" which states Small wire cages (called battery cages) can't be used but hens may be raised in other types of cages. The minimum space requirements are less than 1 square foot per bird. The birds must be given nest boxes and a place to roost—important for the welfare of laying hens. Indoor ammonia levels (produced by animal waste), which when high can cause illness, must be controlled. Hens don't have to have access to a pasture, run, or other outdoor space. (However, an American Humane label plus a "pasture raised" or "free range" claim on a carton of eggs means the hens were required to have outdoor access.)... but no requirement as to the duration they spend outdoors (so they have time to eat bugs and other nutrient rich foods). Most people agree the industry standard for true "Pasture Raised" is the "Certified Humane". Certified Humane does have a definition for Pasture-Raised, which requires 6-hours of outdoor space and 2-square-feet per bird. With all of this said, I did try boiling the shells to see if the brown would come off as others had complained. I could not get the color to run after boiling and scrubbing. Additionally the egg color does look correct (orangy like true free range eggs I have seen). I could not say whether this is achievable through dye in the feed or not. I do think these taste a bit better than cheap eggs but not as good as true free range eggs I have tasted. I have photos but sams photo upload is not working still.

it was great couple weeks ago. now huge difference. the egg size greatly reduced. its sold as grade A Large eggs.1.92-2.16 ounces for large per USDA. but its so much smaller when I last bought it, and certainly some are less than 2 oz. oh and they hiked the prices. large corp act like they are poor when 50% price increase with every chance they get.

I buy Pasture Raised eggs because they usually provide a better quality product. When hens can get a variety of food from a natural outside environment, they produce better eggs. But these eggs had PALE YOLKS, and thin shells which is indicator that the hens are not being fed good quality food. I will not PAY EXTRA for in INFERIOR product.

Used to be an excellent eggs: dark yoke and more firm white, and limited availability or mostly out of stock!!! now it's no different from any regular brown eggs. Light yoke and watery whites, and…available all year round!!! Obviously it's not a pasture raised. It's just either Sam's or the supplier started the cheating process.

These are the eggs we grab when we are not grabbing them from the farm. Its really hard to know for sure the quality but I am looking for the best eggs possible when coming from a store and I think these eggs are it! These eggs are the sole reason for our Sams memeber ship. The other guys have way more options for us as a meat based family. 🥚🍳🐣

what happened to the chickens laying these eggs ?! Because the yolks used to be a dark vibrant orange as true pasture raised chicken eggs should be, now they are pale yellow.... the quality changed.. I will try buying them again to see if they are orange next time...

Pasture raised at a good price. We appreciate the healthy options that Sam's is offering.
