This looks like a good unit. Easy to assemble and started up with no problems but ran very rough and stalled. Needed to call for service to come tune it up. Im sure its something minor like bad gaps in the plugs or something like that but a brand new unit should run for a few years before giving you problems. Don't know what this means for long term reliability.

I had this delivered to the house. The packaging was very good. No damage. I did all the assembly within a half hour. Filled it with oil and put some gas into the tank. I used the electric start and it started up with no problems. Temp outside was less than 5 F. I bought the electric start only for my wife so she could start it up if I wasn't home. The manual provides all information needed to star and maintain the unit.

I brought this generator prior to relocating to Puerto Rico this year. When Hurricane Irma then Maria hit the island in September, I ran it 24X7 to power my home. I could not be happier. Had refrigerator and lights everyday until the power was restored November 25th. That was 2 plus months. Never a hiccup and on we washed our clothes in the washer. I invested in a transfer panel during the outage and that made the use even easier/ The electric start is a charm and changing the oil is easy. 10 days after the power was restored the lights went out again. Went to my generator, pushed the start button and it went back on line. Went I turned it off after 2 months I kissed it because it helped my wife and I get thru a difficult time. Buy this unit. I am a very careful shopper and only invest in quality products. If I seem enthusiastic, it is because it performed beyond my expectations. THANKS GENERAC!!!

I just received my Generac GP8000E portable generator a couple of days ago. I bought it for the sole purpose of having back-up power in case of a power outage. I asked our electricians at work which generator they would recommend and they both said this one at the same time. That tells me a lot. We have a Generac stand alone at work that powers our whole office and I feel that if they both recommended this model and brand, then it must be the one I'll be happy with. I'm almost hoping the power goes off this winter..... lol

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received my generator, I immediately assembled it. It was very simple and the instructions provided were clear. After I assembled it I tried to run it. It worked perfectly and provided electricity to several of my appliances. I am older (in my 80's) and live in the woods so losing electric occurs during the winter or summer storms. This generator is easy to move on it's wheels which are attached to the frame. I would recommend this product for its convenience and easy to move as well as the electricity it provides.

The directions are simple-you don't have to be a handyman in order to put it together. It comes with the first supply of oil. You just open it up and pour it in! I am extremely happy that it has a push start. I am a very small framed woman and I was afraid that in an emergency situation, I would not be able to start it on my own.(with a pull start) I was able to push a button and bam power! It is quite heavy, but it's not hard to wheel it where you want it to go...and with the never flat tires, you won't have to worry about getting it stuck with a punctured tire. This generator is very powerful. I was able to power our refrigerator, the neighbors refrigerator, two TVs, a deep freezer, a computer, two fans and lights. It's not as loud as I thought it would be. About as loud as a lawnmower. This thing ran for TWELVE STRAIGHT HOURS! That's impressive! Bottom line is... buy this Generac! Don't buy a knock-off brand to save a couple of dollars. It will not have all the features of this Generac. It will not be as durable or as reliable. You will not be able to power the amount of things this Generac does and it will not run as good or as long!

Bought the GP8000e for my ski cabin. It will run everything including well pump and hot water heater when we loose power which has become more frequent. Happy with my purchase. Decided to go with Generac since I already own a Generac generator for my primary home.

The price was within or close to the many competitive brands I reviewed and researched out. I wanted an electric start so my wife could start it if needed in my absence. The main initial wattage output was very important to start the electrical appliances in my home that I feel is needed. Primarily, the well pump, two refrigerators, several room lights, TV, security system and possibly the AC/heat system if really needed. I do not have it set up yet but will soon be adding a manual transfer switch to connect this unit to. Looking forward to providing me the power I need during the next hurricane. IRMA was cruel to us. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven’t used a modern generator before - last one we had was 25 years old, was noisy, shaky, and we’d wear ourselves out getting it to start. Oh, and then there was the exhaust, smoke and low current. Not anymore! This thing is a dream. Arrived well packaged and was a breeze to set up. Basically you attach the wheels, front rests and handle and it’s ready to go. Well you add oil (included, along with a handy funnel) From there, startup instructions are well documented in the book AND on the generator itself. I really appreciate that there are easy to follow graphical steps on the unit itself for starting and running the unit. A few quick pulls and it was purring like a kitten. I haven’t had a chance to put too much load on it, but so far it’s easily powered everything I’ve thrown at it! The unit is heavy, feels like everything is high quality, and I expect it to last a long time. Definitely recommend!

The generator is well worth the money for a stand by system or contractors. It starts easy with the dial and battery. Plenty of power to run the essentials. A little noisy compared to others and the fuel consumption is a bit high, well worth the trade off for this price point
