I returned it because I could not figure out how to safe my planned route. Now it was a nic epc of equipment but being technology ignorant it was beyond my comprehension. My old Garmin was straight forward easy ti use but all of a sudden it would do nothing but Canada

I purchased this unit and received it on 19 May. I truly love this product and so many other Garmin items. The only downfall is that the day before yesterday and yesterday, I found the screen disconnected from the main unit. I was able to snap the screen back into place both times and noticed the back of the screen was very sticky.

They took the shorter distance option out. This was a dumb decision. They put in a straight line option which makes no sense. I called and they said they do not know why they did this. I went on a route I knew before on a garmin with shorter distance and it kept rerouting me on the longer distance which was out of the way. Please tell me why you did this? The phone gps that are out there are better. Why,Why.why. They ruined a great product

I've had my old Garmin since 2010 and updated it a couple of times but just couldn't seen to update it again so I bought the 53. It didn't show the neighborhoods that have been built in the past 4 years so I tried to update it but was not able to. Needless to say I'm a little disappointed. It also sends me on some weird route to part of Rapid City that doesn't make any sense at all. Otherwise, if I know an address of a business it can't find I can generally get there using the address.

My Garmin Drive 53 is a great GPS, in a car.. however I got mine for my e-bike. The size was a large part of my decision - it mounts very well and looks fantastic. I got this unit to replace my dead Garmin Nuvi 1390. The Nuvi displayed bike trails and recognized when you were traveling on a trail. The Drive 53 displays trails, but it looks like a spider thread in a non contrasting color. It virtually cannot be seen. That is my only complaint. GARMIN - if you hear me, can we get a map update for Drive 53 that recognizes trails and displays them so they are visible to humans. I mean the trails are there, just not usable. I know you would like me to buy an Edge, but I don't want an Edge, I want a GPS with the utility of my dead Nuvi. I'm 74 and don't want a “cycling computer “, I just want to know where the trail goes.

I like it, it does take getting used to if you have N,S,E and W with numbered streets. If it had AI it would probably be perfect, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. The area I use it for is City of Palmdale, Antelope Valley California, check it out, you'll see what I mean, and I forgot to mention the “-“s between words and numbers, total curve ball for microprocessor, fix that and 5 stars every time

This is, I believe, my 4th Garmin GPS unit. They all have been good, sometimes, one better than the other (depending on the programming). One earlier unit had a "Detour" command you used when you missed your turn or went the wrong direction, which was really good. I believe this command is still there, but is not as up front or convenient as it previously was (maybe I'm wrong). I am not a freeway person, but many times it seems that the unit, most often than not, is directing me there! I unchecked your "Highway" command when my wife told me the unit kept sending her to the interstate. Unfortunately, I don't have my Garmin GPS available to look at while I am writing this. I am a less "bells and whistles" person. I don't use it for traffic. I basically just use it to go somewhere. I am big on coordinates, they have been very helpful in getting me where I want to go. Overall, my Garmin units have been very helpful, but I might add, I can read a map and I use it in conjunction with the GPS unit to look at the big picture.

This garmin keeps going out on me. I charged it first and it only lasted about 10 minutes I brought it in and charged it again and it only lasted about 12-15 minutes before it went out. Shows green battery is charged. The second time I was able to get it back on so I did have directs to get home

I was given this as a gift to replace my 9 yr old still working Garmin 1350. It works great with solid directions. Yet on cold days it flashes dark light dark light for the first 10 to 15 min of driving. Very annoying! Once warm it stays lit. It seems it has something to do with the battery getting cold. My old 1350 never had any issue.
