I raelly like this unit, with one exception the speaker could be better, I have two others the 52 and 1040 that sound clear and crisp the 53 sounds a bit raspy compared to the others. But as i stated in the beginning i do like the 53 in all other aspects. hope this helps.

Have had my unit about a month. I wish I could return. The maps are great. The volume even adjusted to max is not loud enough. There is no way to a separate speaker and no Bluetooth connection. My bad? Maybe , I thought I had trusted an heirloom quality company

I bought this thinking it would be up to date the are streets in Hazel Green Al that have been here over 2yrs and is still not on the garmin maps even if you update them and the are streets in downtown Huntville Al that use to be one way streets that are now two way but garmin still thinks the are one way

I have the volume turned up to maximum and that's fine around town. But go out on the interstate with 3 lanes of traffic moving at high speed and I cannot hear the audio navigation above all the noise from the trucks etc. It's not a personal hearing problem at all, my hearing is great! Can anything be done to increase the audio volume?

I bought this new GPS and first thing I did was to update maps. The next day I go on trip from Wisconsin to the Smoky Mountains and around Indianapolis the GPS did not match what lanes to be in. So make sure you pay attention to the real-world signs you see as you drive because the GPS is not always correct.

Got this one when my older Garmin Drive stopped working. Looks just like it, but no instruction manual for tech-impaired customers such as myself. Has features my old one didn't have, had no idea whether to select or not. E.g.: choose between Fastest Time and Straight Line. What? And there was no sound. I finally just blindly pushed random selections and suddenly I had the voice. I think I have it figured out now, just hope I don't need a "new" and "improved" one again. My old one was just fine--until it wasn't. I also hope the random selections I made in total frustration don't take me to the dregs of big cities. Right now I see a main route on the screen, but there's also a dotted line route that's slightly different. No idea what that's about. Just get me to where I need to go, and give me a scenic route. Really do not like interstates and other highways.

I have been using a Drive 52 for the past few years. It finally dies and needed a replacement. Although I haven't used this enough to learn all of the features, I am disappointed that they eliminated some of my favorite features that I had on the Drive 52. Maybe I'll think better of it after some use.

I had a GPS (not a Garmin) unit given to me a long time ago from another company. I had used it sparingly but really didn't like how it functioned. I started field training a new officer and decided that a GPS unit may be beneficial. I did the research and the minute I opened the box on my new Garmin I was impressed. Easy to set up, basically plug and Play. The functions are more than I could ever need. I have been recommending them to all my guys that want to get GPS units. For the price and ease of use I can't see anything better.

Im very disappointed in the volume ,,, the whole reason I bought a new one is I can't hear the driving instruction on my phone. Unfortunately the volume on my Drive 53 is no better than my phone. something think about if you don't hear as well as you used to.
