Simple and Effective

I installed this as a rear-facing camera on my 4Runner. I can use the lighter outlet in the trunk and chase the USB cable into the truck seal. It works great and is very simple to install and set up using the Garmin Drive app. Unfortunately in a world of distracted driving having a camera to provide proof offers some security

Great dashcam

This is a very simple and intuitive dashcam. The app is easy and runs well also. I didn't need anything complex and I am happy with the garmin mini 2. I'd recommend using the Dongar adaptor to take power from the mirror if you have a powered mirror.

Excellent rear window camera

I use this in the rear window with a 67W in the front. They work together well and are constantly looking out for me... One warning.... I used the suction mount successfully in the front but not in the rear. Garmin doesn't warn you that the suction mount might not work in the rear window due to the embedded rear window heating element which means the glass surface might not be totally smooth. It is not a heat issue... it's the perfect surface needed for the best suction. They even show it mounted on rear heating elements in their video, but we proved it does not stay. If/when you use their small glue mount, try to find the best place where it also won't be mounted on top of heating elements. FYI, you can remove it if necessary, but you can't re-use it once you do. Nice that they give you an extra one...

It's OK

The usb connector at the camera end should be a type c. I'm using it as a rear camera and there are no usb ports at the rear of my vehicle. The power end should have a way to tap into a 12v source such as a cable with a 12v to 5V converter. Better yet, why not just make the camera 12V? Not all cars have usb ports.

Almost Perfect

I will probably give the cam five stars after I understand how to use it. Just finished a four-day tour of West Texas and the cam recorded with great clarity every time I drove the car. On the downside for the moment is the steep learning curve on how to find clips I am interested in reviewing, saving and sharing.

It just works

It does exactly what it is expected to do. Turn the ignition, it starts recording. The app makes the experience all the more enjoyable. It recognizes my camera with no issues. for best results, calibrate the position of the camera so the center of the image catches the most important part of the frame (I know, it seems ovbious right?), the center of the lens is the sharpest part of you image. for me, it frames a large part of my hood but the center is right at the front of it in case of a fender bender.

Cheap Mount

The mount is a cheap sticker/glue instead of a suction cup. I pulled the plastic adhesive backing off the glue mount, tested the camera location, then put the plastic adhesive back on. Huge mistake. I haven't been able to get the plastic backing back off, effectively running the mount. So the camera has sat in the box since Christmas, unused. Garmin does not sell a suction cup mount that is compatible, nor extra glue mounts.

Saved me in the first month of using

Bought it, put it on my vehicle and within the first month someone pulled out in front of me. Police officer took one look at the video said ok, and wrote the other guy a ticket for causing the wreck. Insurance companies paid up and all was good. The only reason this is not a 5 is that once the memory card starts to get full, the recordings get sluggish. I find its better to pull the card and delete all recordings. Kind of a pain. The cloud solutions might be better, but I'm too cheap ;-)

Nice little camera!

My son gave me this for my birthday about a month ago. It is a nice little camera that does just what it is supposed to do! I hope I never need it for accident evidence, but if I do, I will have it! My grandson was in an accident lately and accused of being partly at fault, but when he mentioned he had it all on his dashcam the other party immediately dropped the accusation.

Super Cool Low-Profile Dashcam

It auto defaults to audio recording off which was annoying for one incident but now that I figured it out it works amazing. Make sure to test that both audio and video works in a mock video. (I muted mine so it doesn't make a sound every time I turn on my car)
