Happy user, until this year

I have been using Turbo Tax Premier for over 10 years and have been happy with product. However, the 2024 Premier version had a bug in the program when trying to input 1099 INT data. I wanted to input the information manually, but every time I selected " I'll choose what I want to enter", it took me to a screen to download information from financial institutions, with no option to skip downloading. I had no way to get to the screen to input the data. I called the Turbo Tax help desk, and after working with the support person they had me delete all the download options on the download screen, which then allowed me to the screens to input my data. Hopefully this problem will be fixed for next year's version.

Very usable tax software

I've been using it for decades and while it is easy to use, it also hasn't innovated much. My biggest problem is that it keeps asking me for the same information - such as my name and address. I went to pay, the credit card form asked for my name and address. Also the State form lacked the ability to jump to any section I wanted to. The Fed has this feature. I needed to update on section and instead had to start from the beginning and press Next Next Next until the correct page was shown. Also it would be nice if more data could be imported. And it could short circuit and not ask questions that don't matter based upon the data input. Why enter Mortgage info - when a) it already knows I live at the same address, b) standard deduction & home value would obviously allow skipping of this input? Make it faster by skipping things.

Horrible from the start to the end

The program refused to load correctly but after 15 try's I finally picked one and went with it. The program made itself way too easy to inadvertently dump--which I did several times for various reasons, for instance, misinterpreting "do you want to save this file?" when I had been working on one sheet and when I said "no" it dumped the entire tax file. It was repeatedly way off mark forcing me to back out and restart multiple times in order to get going back in the desired direction. The step-by-step did not mesh well with the "forms" and trying to get to the form that was my problem often required some digging. The program insisted that I had an apartment number---that was fun to finally get past. It also decided that we had used the Insurance Market (never heard of it) and the process of finally untangling myself from it, since it prevented my efiling, was hours in length. I have used TT for many years and this was not just uncharacteristic, it was a different planet. I have very serious doubts I will ever use TT again. I don't think I ever had a chance from the start with the problems in loading the program. With a disc it was never a problem. This online version sucks and turned me from a fan to someone who will be looking for other alternatives next year. You have cheapened yourself out of my business.

TurboTax - room for improvement

This product is not so easy to use unless you have experience doing taxes. I have been doing my own tax returns, and more, for more than 40 years. So with that experience, I am able to navigate through TurboTax software and able to correct the errors mostly attributed to this application software. It is not perfect, but I have been using TT for about 26 years.

Turbo Tax cannot connect without headaches!

The software installation has been a consistent problem since the Windows 11 requirement. The software installation package keeps insisting that I have no internet connection, which is completely inaccurate. When trying to engage "Expert Help", the hyper link inside the program again insists I have no internet connection, yet my browser can connect to Intuit with no difficulties.

Foreign Accounts

I've used TurboTax for many years and loved it. This year my taxes were mor complicated because of a new immigrant wife. Very disappointed in the way the program handled foreign accounts, foreign taxes paid, etc. Took hours longer to do then I expected.

Make this program a joy to use

It works, but it's too expensive, buggy, and time consuming. Here are my main complaints: Entering K-1's is a pain. K-1s for PTP's should not be so hard. Why can't Turbo Tax make it simple to split off a second K-1 when there's info in Boxes 1 and 2. Why can't it fan out a whole set of K-1's when I have a K-1 that breaks out for three partnerships - especially when two of those have Box 1 and 2 filled in (Looking at you, ET) Now let's talk bugs: (1) Every year there are bugs that cause stumbles that I have to work hours to get around. This year, it is certain bits of info that TurboTax asks about and then it is impossible to get back to. It will ask you something you answer but then you back up to change it and it is gone - No way to ever get back to it. One of these happened in the main program and another in the state tax. (2) When I tried to open a saved copy of my tax from before I started working on state, due to the aforementioned bug, it wouldn't open the state - it just sat there. I could skip over state and file but I wasn't going to do that with out at least looking at it even though the numbers were right. (3) Trying to work around bugs, led me to save several copies of my taxes. Turbotax doesn't allow me to see the whole name when I'm trying to open a file.

Turbo is a great product only with the Forms Mode

I have use TurboTax products for over 30+ years. I use both TurboTax 1040 and TurboTax Business desktop versions. During one of the TurboTax updates there was a notification that TurboTax was going to do away with the Forms mode and would only provide the Step by Step method for inputting information into TurboTax next year. This would be a tremendous burden to many long-time users of TurboTax. I do not like the Step by Step method to input my information and even dislike it when I am forced to use it for the final review before I e-filing my returns. If this is not available next year I will have to find some other tax software program to file my returns. This would not be a product enhancement for TurboTax products and I would hate to have to learn how do use another software tax program. I have recommended TurboTax 1040 and TurboTax Business to friends and business for years. I don't think you want to lose me a loyal customer and supporter of your services.

Buggy Software

I have used this product for many years. However, I had several issues using your software this year. When manually entering data for both interest income and charitable deductions, you software worked poorly. It did not update and display the information that was manually entered. Unlike other categories, it left the fields showing as blank leaving me with the impression that the data had not been processed for some reason. I then entered some of the data more than once trying to get the values to display. When I left the category and went in to another option, the data I entered had apparently been stored in memory and then finally updated the specific transaction with the total or the duplicate entries I had entered trying to get the data display. I then had to go in and delete the duplicate entries since they were clearly overstated at that point. Very annoying. I also had a problem with the state return (California). I went through all the on-line prompts for data the state schedule including the error check process and was at the point where you then move forward with filing. However, the state return amount simply showed zero. Since that was obviously wrong, I went to look at the preview of the state schedule and it said no form had been generated. I ended up saving all of data and completely exiting the program at that point. I then relaunched the TurboTax software and all of the calculations for the state return finally kicked in and created all of the applicate forms for the state return. I have never been as frustrated using your software as I was this year. I have always thought you had a good product. But if I encounter issues like this again next year, I will be looking for another option.

$83 JUNK

Used to be the best product, and now they are all about the upsell. $83 JUNK! with no help or answers unless I paid more money. I hope the people that make it are ashamed of what garbage their products have become. There used to be support. nothing now.
