Garbage

SAVE YOUR MONEY. THEIR PRODUCTS LEAK WATER, THEN THEY BLAME YOU FOR IT HAPPENING! NIGHT OWL HAS ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND TRULY DOESN'T HELP THE PURCHASER! GOING TO HIT MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY FOR THE MONEY BACK, CAUSE THIS COMPANY TRULY IS A FAILURE TO ITS CUSTOMERS! STAY AWAY FROM NIGHT OWL N THERE'S SO MANY BETTER COMPANIES!

Same old Night Owl problems

I purchased this system to replace an older N-W system where the DVR stopped working , This is system is not a 2K picture quality, I have 2K dash cams that have far better video quality than this system. One of the cameras has "noise" lines running across it constantly, another camera will not switch back from night mode with out unplugging the power. I have noticed other reviews with the same problem, When the cams change to night mode it is so bright that a person in view cannot be identified, just a very bright out line as you see on a police heat camera. I can view the live video on my phone but cant the N-Owl protect to work on my PC , had to hard wire it. I have connected one of the "old" system cameras and it is a better picture than these new 2K ones. I have only had the system for a week , still running new wires, not contacted customer service yet, they have not been very useful in the past. I tried to replace this old system with a Samsung/Wisenet system but could not find one, I have Samsung systems in other properties with no problems, fortunately I purchased from Sam's so have a 90 day return policy, looks like its going back.

Garbage Products and Service

Have spent months yes months working with this company to solve recording issues with their product. First if you are having an issue adjusting the zone sensitivity for each camera under record settings it's not just you. We tried it on 4 different phones and the system will just reset it to medium if you set the lowest setting. They tried to play it off as a phone issue. Nope. Ultimately they didn't address the issue and implied a refund and then recanted because it went past 30 days even though we had been working the issue. To make matters worse during the troubleshooting they shipped me a replacement nvr and put it is a large usps mailer box with absolutely no packing material. Ultimately this was not a fix. This system will say it sees a face or car when there is nothing there. The main reason I wanted to adjust the sensitivity. Just so you know they use the same software on all their kits so I would avoid them all together. If I could give 0 stars for this company I would. Absolutely terrible experience and product.

Worst Customer Service

I purchased this product only a month ago, and the cameras are already experiencing issues. Of 8 cameras, 2 of them began within a week to give me intermittent issues with not going back to color mode during the day (& one of those 2 experienced occasional flips like you would see on an old tv). I opened a ticket with Night Owl customer service 2 weeks ago. The first agent was very helpful and gave me instructions to follow, which included replacing the camera experiencing flips with one of my unused ones. This seems to have solved the problem. For the other camera, they had me unplug only the red plug at the dvr and replug it back in, and that resolved the nightvision issue. I now have to do this periodically when it (& 1 other new one) gets stuck in night vision. They emailed me information indicating that they had planned to replace one malfunctioning camera and the plug for the second one. Now, into the 2nd week of this ticket, 2 other agents who were not initially involved have contacted me requesting that I duplicate the process with replacing the camera again (not doing this as it is over 100 degrees out and it seems completely unnecessary since the first replacement fixed the problem). I just need a new camera to replace the one I had to take down and a new plug for the other one. They are now refusing saying, "We have no issues at our end of development, However, I can suggest having the cameras relocated to a well lit area sometimes its the physical location and or near high current lines affecting this cameras. if you still experiencing this issue please, let us know as it could be a damaged cable from the camera to the DVR unit." I do not have any high current lines near my house. So are they now indicating that these cameras cannot be used anywhere dark? What is the point of night vision? Clearly it is not a cable issue as the camera has been working fine since I replaced it. I would highly recommend that you consider how the company treats their customers before you make a purchase because if you end up with equipment issues, prepare to be lead on a wild goose chase with no actual resolution to your problem.

Worked decent at first

I bought this system and installed it in July of 2022. In November of 2022 the two cameras mounted at my entrances stopped recording any events. These are the two in the system you can speak through. Another of the cameras infrared light no longer works. I've done the recommend updates to the firmware for both cameras not recording and nothing has changed. The cameras that are still working, work fine Very disappointed especially with the amount of money spent on this. The app is useless if you are away from your home, good luck trying to play any videos back or even seeing a live feed of your cameras.

CANNOT VIEW ON MONITOR

I bought this system less then 2 weeks ago did the setup via bluetooth and it works great however with the business that I run my security guard would need to view live feeds via monitor however 4 days into owning the system it just goes and decides that it's not going to give us the feed via monitor, I checked all cables and connections and everything is fine from the outside so the problem is internal on the Night Owl DVR however the store won't allow me to return it and Night Owl says there is no way it's there system that it must be my Monitor well the Monitor is new bought the same day and is compatable the sales men helped me get just to make sure I wouldn't have a problem, well in order to maintain my security I've boxed and shelved the NIght Owl system and reconnected my old system until I can find something better, sad all the reviews are great i just got lucky with the one that can't help me. looking for a new system one where i can get the help i need from the support unable to get any help with night owl and the support techs are very rude. most definitely will not be trying to contact them again

Sends too many notifications

Don't waste your money on these cameras unless you want a lot of notifications of your tire's. Hardly records when there is human in front of the camera but send you back to back every minute on the minute notifications of insignificant things like a back bumper or a back tires . Not worth it find better cameras

Amazing Audio and Video Quality!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my Night Owl 2K HD DVR Security System for about a month and I really like the sense of security, it gives me. This security set included 4 Cameras, which I set up on each side of my home and it also came with a 1TB DVR, so I can save a ton of recordings, without worrying about a monthly fee. Setting up this security system, was easy and only took around an hour to do so. I really love that I can connect this system, directly to my TV and have live access 24/7. There's also a mobile app that allows me to view live video, but I found the app to be a little more inconvenient, than it was convenient. I only had notifications set for Human and Vehicle detection, but I kept receiving multiple notifications a day for animals, clouds and shadows, being detected as humans. I still occasionally use the app, but I now have notifications turned off. Another issue I ran into is the siren feature. I was really excited about this feature! I could make people aware of the fact, that they were being recorded and being able to possibly prevent things from being taken from my property, was like a dream feature! Unfortunately, the siren was going off, all day and night, from any type of movement. The cameras are definitely great quality and I love that they're multi-functional. They come with built in spotlights, very clear 2-way Audio and beautiful clear videos, during both day and night! Even though I'm not very fond of the app and the siren wasn't what I'd hoped for. I'm very happy with my Night Owl Security System and the peace of mind, it gives my family and myself!

Doesn't work with all their cameras

I have purchased two other night owl systems over the years and those systems came with two different camera models. The second system worked with the cameras that it came with (CM-DP8L-B) and the previous cameras (CM-C20XL-BU-JF) but this DVR does not work with the DP8L cameras. Additionally, this DVD runs HOT!! Too hot to touch.

NOT A GOOD UPGRADE

I upgraded this system from c20x version because of the audio aspect. I thought you would be able to export all 8 hours(for example) to a usb drive like the c20x version.. NOPE Its only by events. You cant even select multiple events at a time. Its just one at a time. THIS IS A HUGE SOFTWARE FLAW! FIX THIS!
