I live in the deep south, and hurricanes and floods occur often, so loss of power is a common occurrence for us. We had been wanting a whole house generator for a while. After Katrina, we were without power for 5 weeks. We suffered through using portable generators for the last few years, but with our advancing age, the hassle of using two or three small generators to keep our freezers, well pump, and lights running got to be a real hassle! Bought the 22kw generator, and we feel so relieved when the power goes out, that our Generac will start, and transfer power over to the house within seconds. It powers the whole house with ease. The 3 ton central A.C., double wall mounted ovens, all 4 burners on our glass cooktop stove, and well pump. It's like we've never lost power! Also, when utility power comes back, it transfers power back with zero interruption! Love it! Thanks Generac!

While we have not yet had a power outage, our Generac tests itself every Wednesday and it's comforting to know that, regardless whether we are home or away, the house essentially protects itself from harm. We have had our generator for a month and only had to use it once for five minutes during a brief lightning storm. It performed as expected. The engine noise is somewhat louder than I expected but is not an annoyance. Having this generator has given us much needed peace of mind. An investment that is truly worth the money and value.

My first Generac was a 7.5kw for a large home of about 5K sq ft. Worked fine for about 16 years, covered 70% of home functions - generally more than enough to be comfortable and survive. Was rusty and finally a board failed. The new model is a 10K wifi capable unit. Looks great, works great and takes care of about 90% of our home, which again is more than enough - about the only thing not covered is the AC, but since I am in Northern US - not a big deal! Just Super - get one - you won't be sorry.

I own 4 of these, I have the early generac to the newest. because of my job, when I am away, I do not have to worry about the power being out and I'm at work. I have had the pull start generators and they are fine in a pinch. But I do not have to worry about having to keep gasoline in a can on site at all times. The avg run time for those generators are about 11hrs or so. With the ones, which include the older one's, all are run on natural gas. No worries. They are easy to maintain or I can have then serviced at a reasonable price. Great stuff. I would recommend everyone that can, to have one installed. They pay for themselves the first time the power goes out for hours or in my case.... days. Worth the money and sacrifice. A good portion of my neighborhood has them after seeing me with lights and their were out for 2 weeks. No hotel for me and no soiled food. Thanks and I hope I didn't talk too much. Buy it!!!

We just purchased a 22k generator for our home. So excited to know that living near the gulf of Mexico during hurricane season that we will not be without electricity because of our Generac. It was easily installed and very easy to set up the settings. But more that anything its a peace of mind that we no longer have to worry about being without lights for days or weeks at a time.

If you live out in the country, you will have to do all the installation yourself and don't try and use the generic web site or try and talk with anyone at generic, you are on your own. If you can find someone that installs them, they might give you some free advice. I got lucky! If you live in a large city, you might have better luck finding a dealer, if not you are on your own.
