Installed our 22kw NG whole home backup generator with transfer switch in July 2016. We were expected to take a direct hit from Hurricane Matthew here in Melbourne, Fl, but instead were spared. Nonetheless, the power went out around 2am and within ten seconds our Generac Generator fired up like a champ. So far it has performed flawlessly and we expect it to continue. We will shut it down as soon as conditions permit to check the oil, and will fire it back up soon after. Well worth the purchase and recommend this generator as part of your significant inclement weather must have.

I bought my Generac in the fall planning for next years hurricane season. But to my surprise, shortly after purchasing, we had an ice storm that knocked out power for days. This kept our house warm, power to our refrigerators/freezers and was very thankful that we purchased when we did. The generator performed flawlessly and have since needed it for 2 other storms that also knocked our power for a few days.

As a lifelong resident of North Florida, I have always been concerned with the risk of losing power during hurricane season, both at home and at work. For several years, I considered having a whole house generator installed, but could not justify the cost. I had done enough research that I knew that I wanted a Generac unit, as it appeared to have become the standard in backup power units, much like Apple products has done with cell phones, and Microsoft has accomplished with computers. When Hurricane Irma left us without power for 5 days, I began researching units again, and was pleasantly surprised that the unit cost had continued to decline. With hurricane season approaching again, we decided the cost was justifiable. We had a unit installed last week. The Automatic Transfer Switch works like a charm. It senses when power is lost and automatically starts the generator. Likewise, when regular power is restored, the switch senses that and starts the generator shut down process. As the owner, I didn't have to lift a finger! While we do not ever want to face another hurricane, the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. We are now prepared. Generac has made life easier!

We have had our 24kW Guardian unit for just over one year now. We reside in Houston, TX area and are thus exposed to hurricanes, tropical storms, and even winter freezes. Each of these weather events can disrupt power, for a few hours to a few days, or more. I have an 87 year old mother-in-law that lives in a home just over a mile from us. Thus, our decision for backup power was as much for her as for ourselves. Our unit runs our entire 3,100 sq.ft. home, including a 5-ton AC, and a pool. Shock Doc Electrical in League City was referred by Generac and they did an excellent job on the installation. Worth every penny for the peace of mind!

We purchased a Generac generator after looking at all the options available and found Generac had the best reputation and quality for the money. Well your generator has now been through two hurricanes. Hurricane Sally and Hurricane Delta. Documentation received with unit doesn't match what you see on the screen on the control panel. Documentation doesn't match the online app downloading and setup process. Setup for the app is pure mystery. Something about choosing built-in WiFi, WiFi access point, or LTE. No explanation of what to choose. In the end, once I got connected there were no useful features that would require online connectivity unless I paid $50-$60 per year and even then, nothing essential to operating this thing.
