Well built!

I recently purchased this generator as a back up power source during outages. This generator is well built and is a quality product. The dual fuel option is great, and when operating it on propane, there are no worries about stabilizing the fuel. This is powerful, and doesn't bog down under load. I would highly recommend this product.

High Quality Generator

I bought this Westinghouse WGen9500DF generator as an upgrade to a 4400 watt generator that I have had for a few years. I wanted one that could power the majority of my home and this is just the powerhouse to do it! The dual fuel feature is a must in my opinion. You never know which type of fuel may be more readily available in the aftermath of a storm. The fuel source can be switched from one to the other on the fly which is very nice. This generator is extremely heavy duty and very well built. The remote start is also a very nice feature. I would absolutely recommend this generator to anyone looking for some serious power from a high quality unit. Get it, you will not be disappointed.

GREAT FEATURES AT A GREAT PRICE

I purchased this generator to upgrade an older 5500 watt generator that was not powerful enough to run my homes HVAC system. This unit does the job with power to spare. The big tires are really nice when rolling the unit across the lawn from my storage shed to the house’s transfer which connection. I highly recommend this generator!

Perfect Power

What a great product. Simple to operate, my daughter who is small can pull start it, the auto choke release is a great touch. First time I started it I filled it with fuel, turned the fuel shutoff on. Choked it and then pulled the recoil start 3 times to prime it and move some oil around. I turn the switch to ON, pulled the start rope again and it started right up. Didn't have to pull hard and fast, just a smooth pull. Then My daughter wanted to try starting it. I shut it off, turned it to on with no choke and she started it with no problem. We went over operating instructions so she felt sure of herself. (power always goes out when I'm not home) 2 days later the power company shut us down because of high winds. She rolled it out and put it on the pad by herself, started it and had everything running and powered up when I got home. BTW the generator out weighs her by 175lbs. So here is the pros & cons because that's what you are here for right. PROS: User Manual is complete - Assembly- is easy, duel fuel-is a plus, Electric start & remote start-perfect . Fold away handle. low noise level. gauges/meters. outlet covers. Under a load it barely makes a different sound. It is a great generator, the perfect addition to our home because of our power company turning off our power 4 to 5 times a month, (under windy conditions) Now the CONS, (which BTW I really am nitpicking here) Fuel tank could be bigger, some of the nuts that the feet screw into were not aligned and it made assembly a little difficult. That's it, all I can complain about. SO, would I recommend it, YES. Maybe not a generator you would want to load into the bed of a truck everyday, but if you did it would power every tool you have. I tested it with my wire feed welder and it never missed a beat. One last thing, My next door buddies gen wouldn't start so we ran cords over the wall. and this is what we powered: 4 fridges, 2 freezers, 3 lamps, 2 computers, Modems, Routers and my central heater, and a microwave oven a few times. The Generator never missed a beat. I am very happy with your product Westinghouse!

Heavy duty

Unboxed, assembled, and running in 30 minutes. I was impressed with the substantial construction of the generator. Nothing flimsy here. Only running on propane right now. Will only use gasoline in the event of an extended power outage. Remote start is an option not available for many other generators. I’m very satisfied. I believe it will basically power my home if need be.

Build solid!

Haven't had a chance to use it yet. It was packaged well, seems very sturdy and a quality build. I bought it more for peace of mind during a power outage, so really not sure when I'll be taking it for it's first spin, but I feel pretty confident in it when that time comes.

Great Features!

I bought this last month to drive our house in power outages through a manual transfer switch. Haven't lost power, but tested after break in if the unit using propane. Works great and powers our grinder pump, which was key for us. The remote is really handy to turn it on and off. While I don't look forward to losing power, it won't be a bad as before.

Solid looking generator!

The generator looks really solidly built. The control panel is sharp, well-organized, and has a multitude of features for easy use. Looking forward to getting it set up and testing it. I will be setting it up to connect to a outside connector box and run through my main panel with an interlock switch to provide power in the event of a power outage.

Incredible Value

Build quality- excellent, do not see parts that look easy to break or fail. Features- better than most competitors and everything we need. Simple & easy to operate, even starts with a Key Fob. Add the optional ST Switch and it's a smart automatic back-up system- it works perfectly. We use the ST Switch for 1 freezer and 1 refrigerator in the garage with power to spare. I have run almost 7000 watts (from 10ga extension cords) in testing and the 9500DF had no problem on LP gas. We use natural gas for heating and cooking, so the 9500DF will have all our electrical concerns covered including a 10,000 btu backup window AC unit during the TX rolling blackouts. I will not be installing the 50 amp output to the breaker panel in this house, we're moving soon and will invest in a whole-house transfer switch then. Originally considered the 7500DF, but my budget allowed me the upgrade to the 9500DF with the ST Transfer switch. I do know the unit can power a 4 ton A/C unit, so I'm very confident we made the right choice. I have 40 years of professional electronic & electrical experience and the WGen9500DF is everything I wanted in features and build quality. Very satisfied with the value of the Westinghouse product. Perfect choice.

No more worries!

We recently moved to a rural area and have been experiencing power outages on a fairly regular basis. They generally don't last more than a couple hours or so, but during below zero temps even a couple hours is a concern. Having a generator became a priority, and after some research the 9500 seemed a no-brainer. Fortunately the previous owner had wired for a generator, so all we had to do was plug it in. Within a couple weeks of installation the power went down, and mere minutes later we were back up and all was well. It's a great feeling knowing that if, for whatever reason, we lose power that we'll have it back on in moments and this 9500 will provide as much power as we need without a problem. One note: If it's cold out you'll have to manually move the chock to its fully closed position. It wasn't that cold (probably well above freezing) the first time I hooked it up for a test, and I assumed, since it was relatively mild out, that the automatic choke would set itself to start the engine. I made several attempts to start the generator without success and then remember a note about setting the chock manually. I set it, and the generator fired immediately. I seriously doubt one could do better than this generator in its class, especially for the price. We couldn't be happier with it.
