Fantastic Unique Earbuds

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, and I absolutely love them! My ENT, ear doctor, recommended I research earbuds that do not fit snugly inside my ear canal, creating a seal and blocking the ear canal instead recommending earbuds that sit on the outer part of my ear. The open-ear design is perfect & incredibly comfortable, allowing me to enjoy my music, books and phone conversations while still staying aware of my surroundings and not irritating my ear canals. The sound quality is fantastic—rich, clear, and immersive, just as you'd expect from Bose. The fit is super comfortable—I forget I’m even wearing them. They stay securely in place, even during workouts, bike rides or long walks, and the build quality feels premium. If you're looking for great audio, all-day comfort, and an open-ear experience, I highly recommend these earbuds!

Sound quality like no other

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Bose earbuds! I walk in the park everyday and can now listen to my favorite tunes and still be aware of my surroundings. I used to use over the ear headphones and that was unsafe not being able to hear someone approaching from behind. The sound quality is impeccable!! Thank you Bose!!

Great product with room for improvement

Firstly, this is a great product. I don't like most earbuds because they cause discomfort over time, get earwax on them, etc. The way these sit on your ears is creative and comfortable - I never feel any pain or discomfort at all, no matter how long I wear them, and sometimes I even forget that I AM wearing them! And the unique design doesn't compromise the sound quality (which is excellent). I like the Immersive Audio setting that these come with - it literally makes it sound like your audio is coming from the real world around you. Sometimes at work I have to check that the audio is coming out of the buds and not directly from my phone! When you turn your head to the side, the audio sounds like it is coming from the direction you were just facing. This is a fun and, well, immersive feature. The battery life is very good and the charge time is short, so even if I'm listening to music or podcasts all day at work, I can usually get through the day on a single charge or, at most, I'll need to put the buds in their charging case for a few minutes. They are very reliable - I had a few connection issues early on (like only one earbud would be recognized by my phone) but since then they've been great and I have never gotten frustrated with their connectivity, quality, or performance. One thing to note is that the earbuds don't seem to ever turn 'off' unless they are in their charging case. A few features are either half-baked or missing. For example, I would really like an audio battery indicator, which my previous pair of Bose earbuds had - I could click a button on one earbud and it would say "Battery 90%" or whatever number. The biggest letdown is that these earbuds have customizable "Modes" and "Shortcuts" that sound amazing but both are actually very limited in how you can use them. From what I can tell, Modes are functionally identical to the Immersive Audio options, literally the only way to customize Modes is choosing which Immersive Audio option you want. Why is this two different settings? Shortcuts had a ton of potential - each earbud has a button and you can customize what they do individually! But there only seem to be four options, which are 1. Cycle Modes, 2. Change Immersive Audio (again, these are functionally the same exact thing since all Modes do is choose which Immersive Audio setting you want), 3. Switch Bluetooth Device, and 4. Access Phone's Voice Assistant. It seems like there were really good ideas here that just weren't developed enough to be super useful compared to earbuds without these features. One other feature that could be improved is the earbuds' audio control. You can change your volume by tapping then holding either earbud's button, but this makes it difficult to know what volume level you're going to get. How long should I hold it to get the desired volume level? I have no idea, even after a few weeks of using these daily. It would be nice to be able to change the volume in individual increments, which would provide much more control and consistency to the user. I often find it more useful to just pull out my phone and adjust the audio level there. For people like me who have tinnitus and sleep with earbuds listening to ocean or space or rain soundtracks, be aware that these buds aren't great for side sleepers. The audio only comes through when they're in a very particular position in the ear, which is not a problem whatsoever during normal use but can become an issue when your head is laying on a pillow. Despite my criticisms, like I said at the start this is a great product. Uniquely comfortable, great sound, great battery life, reliable performance, and easy to get used to - if you're having trouble figuring the best way to get them to sit on your ear, just keep trying and give it a few days! I figured out pretty quickly what works best fornme. Overall I'm happy with the product.

They fit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in December 2024 and I love wearing them. Other earbuds make my ears itch and don't seem to fit and I am always taking them out because of the discomfort. I often forget I have the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in my ears!!!

Great Bose Sound Quality, Long Battery Life

I have been using the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds exclusively for around a month now and my first impression was that the sound quality that Bose products are known for is there as always. This is the first time I've seen earbuds like these, where they somehow magically work by utilizing the ear pinna in contrast to being inserted into the ear canal. I suspect this will actually help protect hearing, while still being able to achieve great audio quality. I'm very familiar with Bose products, having used their noise-cancelling headsets (both wireless and wired) as well as their awesome aviation headset. Prior to getting the Ultra Open earbuds, I mostly use a competitors product named after a fruit...;) In any case, I actually think that the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds can fit a separate role outside of noise cancelling style of earbuds. First, if you are wanting to listen to music, podcast or whatever yet still want to actually hear what is going on around you, this is where these shine. It's not like wearing a cheap pair of earbuds that you by default can't hear your music when there is too much external noise though. These you can somehow hear important things (like the wife or kid talking to you), while still hearing your audio with perfect quality. Now while I would not recommend wearing earbuds/headphones while driving, these would be the only ones I'd feel comfortable wearing because I can still hear what's going on in the world outside. I also utilized the earbuds while exercising and doing farm work outside. They didn't fall out/off, though I did have to adjust them from time to time to keep it on the sweet spot of my ear for best audio quality. I would say that they stay on the ear better than the competitor product (named after a fruit). Now if you are trying to actually cancel out external sounds AND hear audio in your earbuds, these aren't really meant for that. I tried using them while working on my tractor and the tractor was simply too loud to hear my audio. Not a big deal though because like I said, these earbuds fulfill more of a role when listening to audio when you NEED to hear things externally. Battery life is seemingly infinite (I realize it's not really but it seems like it) when compared to the competitor product I mentioned. I haven't been able to actually deplete the batteries and have used them non-stop for 4 hours or so. I believe there is a battery saving feature of these earbuds where they seem to "turn on" only when audio is detected vs on at all times. It probably helps the battery too that there isn't any noise-cancelling. This battery saving feature did have one downside in limited circumstances though. When listening to something where audio is also intermittent (ie. Instagram Reels, language learning apps like Duolingo) you will sometimes have a slight delay when the earbuds will sense the audio then "turn on". To get around that you just have to replay whatever audio you are trying to listen to once you can tell the earbuds turned on (you will hear them turn on, though I don't know how to describe it). I kind of suspect that Bose may be able to do some software update to turn that feature off in the future (with the downside of reducing battery life?) but I have no idea if that is something that is possible. All in all, I would recommend the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds over any other competitor of a like product if you don't need the noise cancelling features.

Phenomenal!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Phenomenal! I thought the open earbuds would have diminished sound quality, not so. These earbuds are comfortable and provide the same highquality as the ultra noise canceling earbuds and they do not irritate the internal ear, able to move freely they do not slip and comfortable to wear and nap in!

Best Bose Purchase Yet

I absolutely love these! I often have difficulty finding ear buds that will stay in my ears and not fall out at inconvenient time but these are perfect! They stay in, have the incredible Bose sound I have come to expect and the best part….I barely even notice that I have them in!

Not for big ears

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked these up for riding my bike. I wear sport glasses while riding and for comfort reasons I wanted a pair of open air earbuds that didn't go around my ears like my Oladance OWS Pro. They have a solid sound once you get the right fit. I have larger ears and the normal position these should be in really affect the sound. So I position them lower and closer to the earlobe in order to achieve a better fit and sound. If my ears were smaller these would be outstanding hence why I gave it 5 stars but personally for me, these buds are more like a 3.

I bought these earbuds for my sons for the Holidays and they just LOVED them. My one son's girlfriend liked them so much she got a set. So when this new color (plum) came out I had to get me some! The sound quality is fabulous and they are so comfortable!
