The pilling is terrible

I have been looking for a good Vitamin C gel serum to replace the one I have been using the one from Rodin and Fields (the products are fantastic but I hate buying from a pyramid scheme). I love many other Cerave products (Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser, and the night time moisturizing cream) but the Vitamin C serum pills up terribly. I have tried it with numerous moisturizers and sunscreens, foundations, and even alone. The pilling is terrible. I honestly can't tell if the product works or not because it really doesn't matter if my skin is brighter or not if I have little flakes and balls of Vitamin C serum all over my face.

Hi KellyO! Thank you for trying out Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum! . We understand how frustrating it is when the product does not give the expected results. At times, a product when layered under or over another hydrating skincare product that has not fully absorbed into skin, it can cause the product to ball up or “pill”. To help avoid this, we recommend allowing the first product you apply in your skincare routine to fully dry and absorb into skin until it feels dry to the touch before layering on the next product. The opinions of our customers are important to us when making decisions about our products and services. We appreciate your comments and will be sharing them with others in our company Thank you!

High quality on budget

I have a well established skincare regime, I know every ingredient and I've been taking care of my skin for over 20 years, so I can recognize a good skincare formula just by reading the ingredients and evaluating if the packaging can preserve it effectively. This is one of the most impressive serums I've seen inside drugstores. I already see it working in 4 days of use and I am considering ditching my high end Vit C serum for this one

Works fine, but unideal packaging=problems. NEXT

I like Vitamin C and have usually seen improvements to skin tone and evenness after using it. This one from CeraVe is no exception with the added bonus of being a company I trust. Price seems comparable to me to other Vitamin C serums that I've bought and which have been effective. The con for me of this product, and the reason I will *avoid* buying it unless this changes, is the packaging. The metal tube is brittle; it's not friendly to travelling; it is difficult to get every last bit of the serum out; and both times I've bought it, I've had to handle it VERY gently, otherwise the tube cracks, which wastes the product, and allows the product to oxidize. This stuff is comparable to other Vit C price-wise, like I said earlier, but it is not cheap enough for me to be okay with product spoilage. Now, I'd deal with this drawback if the packaging allowed for improved recyclability, but it doesn't even do that! A metal tube with a long plastic nozzle is not even recyclable around me, making this less recyclable than other options, which matters as someone who tries to be semi-conscious AND conscientious as a consumer :/ Keep it up with the formulas, CeraVe, but with this one, unless packaging changes, for me, it's not worth the investment and energy.

Love this stuff!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this daily by gently patting it into my skin and I feel invincible! I can see and feel the difference when I use this serum. The only complaint I have is with the cap of the packaging but oh well!

The Brightening is reallllllllll

This product is fantastic for brightening. I notice a different in my skin when I use them in the morning, my skin looks bright and luminous all day. The result is not temporary but it builds up day by day. Even though the product has alcohol, but I find it to be not drying. Instead, I think because of the alcohol, the texture of the product is so lightweight and it absorbs into my skin without pilling, which is very important for me because I like to layer my skincare and pilling is something that I hate. And thanks to the ceramide and panthenol, I find this product to be hydrating. Hydration and Brightening, this product gives me both. Major thumbs up!!!

You will not be disappointed!

The packaging of this C Serum is perfect. I noted That First, when looking around the CeraVe aisle. This is crucial for stability the of the ingredients. I went ahead and purchased this C Serum, and could not be more pleased with the results. In the past I have only used "high end" serums, moisturizers and such.\ Not any more...I'm in on the entire CreaVe line of products!!

Not for sensitive skin

I am surprised to see denatured alcohol on the ingredients list of this serum since cerave seems to cater to people with sensitive skin. This type of alcohol can be very irritating and drying to people with sensitive skin like mine. I've noticed this ingredient in many of cereve's new products. I'm sad I won't be able to use them.

Vit C serum - Not Fragrance-Free anymore

I've been using this vit C serum for years and I'm very satusfied and happy with this product not only bec it's good for my skin but also it's fragrance-free. I just recently placed an order again and twice I did return it. There was a powdery smell on the serum when I applied it. I ordered twice on different stores just to make sure it was legit. But I returned the items twice too bec they both smell like powder when I applied it on my skin. I hope Cerave company will bring back the original Fragrance free Vit. C Serum. This is very important to me bec I'm allergic to scents.

Hello Ailene18! Thank you for reaching out about our Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum. This is a fragrance-free formula. We do not add fragrances to any of our products labeled "Fragrance Free", however, some formulas may have a slight scent as a result of the ingredients themselves. We hope this information helps!

Best Vitamin C Serum!

This is the best Vitamin C Serum I've used, and I've tried a few of them. I love the texture and how it absorbs into my skin easily. My skin also looks brighter and clearer. The only con is the packaging. The lid gets a little messy. I wish it was more of a pump bottle.

Not Bad, But Not Amazing

This Vitamin C serum didn't do much for my skin unlike some of the more potent ones on the market (15-20% L-ascorbic acid). Honestly, I would love to see niacinamide in this as well, since I know CeraVe uses niacinamide in quite a few other of their products. And for those with really dry and sensitive skin, we prefer seeing a fatty alcohol instead of an astringent one on the ingredients list. Also, the packaging design is not great either. With Vitamin C being so unstable, I really don't think this is the most efficient packaging. It also leaks everywhere out of the cap. I definitely think there should be improvements to this product before I try it again or recommend it to a friend.
