Not a Good decision

We are not sure why Sam’s changed the salmon??? Without question it was about making more money. We would pay more for a better product: that both tastes good and is good for you! Rather than this lousy salmon replacement. No doubt we’ll have to search elsewhere for our go to salmon, because in this case we the Customers are Right ~ but Nobody is Hearing us say ~ Please bring the former 5 Star salmon item. It was truly AWESOME!!!

Very watery

I bought a filet to smoke, but after two and a half hours at 180 degrees I checked for doneness, and water welled up between the fibers. After an additional two hours at 275 the meat was edible, but barely. This fish was a severe disappointment, and I'm left to wonder how much water I paid seven dollars a pound for.

I have purchased this salmon multiple times, and it is always great! I am a serious foodie and home chef, and cannot understand the poor reviews others have left. My only recommendation is to make sure it looks good, is not past the "use by" date, and is nice and vacuum packed with no holes in the plastic. Also, keep it nice and cold in an insulated bag between store and home, and only buy when you going to use within a day or two.

Tasty, fresh, good protein, good value.

I wrap salmon with foil, use Shamy's garlic butter, lemon juice, ground pepper. I either put it on my indoor grill or bake, when it's done the salmon can be lifted off the skin with a spatula, with no problem, and taste delicious. Left over salmon, can be mixed with egg, cracker crumbs, and seasoning, made into pattys, and fried on a griddle, or cast iron skillet.Good with a little melted cheese or a white sauce. you could also make a salmon salad. It's up to you, but can be used in a variety of ways

salmon

I want the Alaskan salmon back not this other farm raised stuff. I’m so aggravated. You CAN tell the difference. I noticed right off the bat. I heard farm fresh isn’t good for you? I don’t know. Maybe I don’t want to know bring back the Alaska salmon. I can’t remember the exact name.

Holy Disgusting Batman

Bought on July 8. It is air sealed, so.camt smell it. Opened right when I got it to the kitchen. I almost puked. Had to hold back dry heave. Triple bagged it and tossed it in outside trash. Glad we had residential pick-up on the 9th. This was so bad I doubt I will ever buy their salmon again. I can still remember that putrid smell

Excellent

I buy this all the time and everyone loves it even those who hate Salmon. I smoke mine at 225 for 3 1/2 hours on a pellet smoker. It lays on a bed of lemons. I season withGrill Mates Sweet & Smoky combined with the Brown Sugar Bourban then Salt & Crack course Pepper. Topped with Roberts Reserve Pineapple Coconut Mango Tequila Sauce and Honey in the last 30 minutes. Finally, it rests for at least 30 minutes in the smoker with the smoker off. If cooked right, it’s incredable and none of the white nasty ooze that all Atlantic Salmon produces.

Old salmon

I purchased salmon on 9/12 with expiration date of 9/15 and I opened it the next day 9/13 to cook it. Even though it had another two days left, I can tell the salmon was older than the expiration date labeled. The salmon was slimy and had a smell. I had to rinse it before cooking and freeze the rest. I do not recommend buying this salmon because the date labeling is incorrect.

Best Salmon for price!

I've been buying this salmon for years. I have poached, grilled, baked, air fried, and smoked it without issue. Obviously you can't compare it to the higher-end non-farmed raised salmon but it is the best bang for your buck. I've seen some comments about people finding an occasional bone, that's why you always check the salmon before you start cooking it. For those complaining that it's too watery, always go for the salmon that is properly sealed in the container.

Eat more fish

My daughter and I shop at Sam's about once a month. We picked up a beautiful looking skin-on fillet last Saturday, even though my question had not yet been answered. So happy we did. I baked it last night for dinner. It was delicious. I wiped off a few scales with a paper towel, found only 1 pin bone on the edge... It was perfect.
