Not a good replacement

I usually buy the frozen cod from Sam’s and it’s really good. They were out of that. When I cut up in this package, it smelled very strongly a fish. Enough to make my stomach start to turn. Nevertheless, I cooked it. It had no flavor no texture. Extremely watery like it was injected with something. I won’t buy it again.

Strong fishy smell and spoiled texture - got sick

Purchased Member’s Mark Wild Caught Cod Fillet (Item %2313904360383) on May 9. Cooked on May 12 after properly storing in fridge. Strong fishy odor when opened (not the mild ocean smell you’d expect from fresh cod). Cooked it in olive oil in a hot covered skillet.  Tasted salty with slippery/mushy texture instead of flaky.  Wife spit it out after consuming several bites when she tasted ammonia; I ate my full fillet seasoned with malt vinegar. Early May 15 ( ~2.5 days later), wife had severe cramps, violent diarrhea, heavy sweating, and near-fainting. Stomach still hurts. (Note: food poisoning from spoiled fish can take 1–3 days, not always immediate. This was the only questionable food we ate in that window..) This matches many other reviews I’ve now seen—people reporting the same strong smell on opening, off texture, and some getting sick. We won’t be buying fresh cod from here again and will be extra careful smelling any seafood immediately. Positive note: Quick refund from customer service.

Fish, Fresh and Flaky

Cod fish, this flaky white fish is my favorite, so packaging is important. This caught my attention, it was in a high-quality airtight container that keep the fish moist, fresh, and free of outside contaminants. I sautéed it with onion, garlic, and tomato with a little olive oil. Wonderful! It came up light flaky and muy delicioso! On the expensive side, but worth every penny.

Terrible smell, had to throw away

Never again. This is the third time I bought this fish, was well before the date of use, got it home and it smelled up my whole refrigerator, while it was still packaged. I don’t know what is going on with the fish but I will not be purchasing again. Smells spoiled or like it was left out in the heat and then packages to sell. Horrible. Buyer beware.

Wild Caught and delicious!

While wild caught is not cheap these are less expensive than other stores and a good quality.
