[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for something that could do two things, protect my grill/barbecue area from rain, and shield my 3 season porch from the late afternoon/evening summer sun. I was able to put most of it together myself, and with my brother's help we lifted the roof section into place. I really like the look of it, I like the sturdy feel it has, it's very well thought out. It is a real job to put it together, though. Just do a thorough inventory, read the directions more than once, and budget plenty of time.

The gazebo came with all material required for assembly. My wife and I assembled it in a couple days without too much difficulty. The wood is very light and the posts are hollow, but the assembled product is sturdy. We already have some dark spots on the wood after 7 months, so it looks like sanding and staining will be an annual recurring maintenance at the very least. Overall we are satisfied with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are loving our grill gazebo! It has plenty of space. It is sturdy and was easy to set up. Ours is actually set up backwards so that water drains away from the house but it still looks great! We get so many compliments when we have cookouts.

I needed a gazebo no taller than 8 feet or so, since I wanted to keep my tress without much trimming. This gazebo fits our space perfectly. I know it's called the 'XL Grill Gazebo', but for us it's the pool tools and shade gazebo. The power box and shelves are perfect for pool items and other backyard tools. The shade space is great. I would have loved a bigger one, but don't have the space in the area I had designated. Installation was professional and my dealings with the BYD service folk was outstanding. The quality of the solid cedar wood parts is exceptional. I would definitely recommend BYD with no reservations.

Purchased this unit on a Saturday morning, by Sunday afternoon I had been notified it was already in transit, Monday morning I was notified it was in town, and by Wednesday afternoon it was in my driveway. Never got notified it was being delivered, it just showed up. I was able to assemble and get it completed in 20 hrs. including staining and protecting the woodwork, I would highly recommend sorting, inventorying, staining and waterproofing before you start assembly, assembly was not difficult, however it requires you to VERY CLOSELY look and follow the instructions or you're going to screw up. The quality of the wood was very good, all the holes and hardware lined up and went smooth, you're going to need at least 3 people to stand it up (will need them for a couple hours). My only complaints are the crappy anchors they send for the concrete are terrible (I opted to get some real red head concrete anchors instead) and the metal roofing doesn't extend past the drip edge far enough to work very well (1/4" as per instructions). I already have a spot developing on one of the main posts where the wood split a little due to an imperfection in the grain and is starting to swell up some after a good rain, it was stained and water sealed with 2 coats prior, we will see how it goes and maybe need to warranty that post down the road if it continues to get worse. I am likely to purchase another one to build an outdoor kitchen under if this proves to hold up well

The assembly company offered on the website does not have any PNW crews so I had to hire my own. I had 4 guys on the first day and 2 guys for an additional 3 days, working full 8-9 hour days. They were carpenters who did excellent work, it just took a really long time. The finished carport looks outstanding.

Bought this gazebo a few months ago. Put it up in one weekend. It is very sturdy and we have no issues with it. No leaks. I do wish the concrete anchor screws were better as multiple screws broke. Overall this is a great product with clear instructions.

LOVE IT! I have a small 40x100 backyard on Long Island. I was looking to put up a privacy fence along my driveway that runs to the back of my yard because we are very (too) close to our neighbors where our patio table and sectional are. OMG the price of a 2 section wood fence and install was quoted at almost the same price as this gazebo. So we bought this instead and nailed 5/4x6” cedar decking to the back to enclose it. I am beyond excited about how it turned out and it gave us way more privacy than any fence and umbrella could. BUY IT! You wont regret it!

We love the cedar and metal stylings and the Saxony XL is ample enough to accommodate our Kamado Joe smoker plus our Napoleon Phantom grill. We opted for the professional installation from Backyard Discovery, which was totally awesome. Within a few hours we were able to enjoy this new addition to our home’s entertainment area. We added shatterproof Edison bulbs to the gazebo adding a fun party vibe. Truly, we could not be more pleased. Well done Backyard Discovery. This is an A+ for us.

Backyard Discovery includes superior quality components with good fit-and-finish. Saxony XL Grill Gazebo is a good size for our patio. Full sized gazebos are too large and other brand grill gazebos, too small. Also, cheaper gazebos from some other brands have parts that appear inferior in quality - a few extra bucks spent here was well worth it. Flipped one countertop to the inside to better suit our needs. Added LED lights under the roof and finished it in an Olympic stain to preserve the wood and it looks great!
