This is a good cup of coffee, better than some other "quality" brands, but I find it lacking in... something. The nose is strong, smoky and rich. There's a feel of chocolate smoothness on the back of the tongue. But the smokiness is powerful on the palate and there's a moderate astringency on the front/middle of the tongue that's not altogether pleasant -- and while most coffee has this, I noticed this a bit more. That's a bit "par for the course" for a dark roast, and while this is mass produced brand, not a coffee-shop cup, I was hopeful from reading the reviews and press that this wasn't a "par for the course" coffee. Alas...That said, I do not object to it. It's drinkable and good with breakfast. It's just not inspired. YMMV. This is my opinion only and may not represent your experience.

I just wanted to say this coffee meant so much to me that this company now has my everlasting support, and I’ll be purchasing more products from them soon but with all the options it’s hard to choose just a few! First of all, when I picked up this bag in Walmart just to read the label, the smell from me shuffling the beans just with my grasp on the bag was so strong it permeated through my mask!!! That’s all I needed to decide. I took it home and it did not disappoint. In fact, I don’t know why it doesn’t say anything on the label because I feel this could be a major selling point, but this bean type NOTICEABLY has at least double the amount of caffeine per portion than any other coffee I have ever had. My roommates and I are no strangers to caffeine what with us being young, in college, and working individuals, so if anything we are even a bit desensitized to caffeine in general. I asked my roommate who drinks about 8 shots of coffee most days to validate my theory and she was amazed at how it made her feel! I’m a bit more sensitive to caffeine so I had to do half decaf and half of this bean in my shots so I could still have 2 or 3 lattes a day, so now I’m considering buying the decaf version of this bean now that I see they sell it on this site! I think it would be perfect because I could use it in the day with the regular bean and midday/night when I have a craving for coffee but don’t want to be up until 3AM! Anyways, I’m not usually one for reviews, but I genuinely never want this company to ever go under or to stop producing this type of bean. With their variety though, I may even replace this favorite with another type of their darks as I try more haha! Peet’s, DONT STOP DOIN WHAT YOURE DOIN

We have been loyal customers for years. Love your coffee. We are on a fixed income and are always looking to save money. Today my wife was looking on Amazon prime and found they were much cheeper than ordering directly from Peets plus the shipping is free and free next day delivery. Hopefully the freshness won't suffer too much.

Reformed coffee snob who still loves a great cup of coffee. This is by far my favorite blend of coffee. The coffee roasts up nice and dark with a bold flavor and no bitter taste. There should be two coffees in the world this and anything else to remind you why you found Peet's Coffee in the first place. I've ordered a few bags and never had a bad roast. The K-Cups version roasts up just a bit lighter than this does with minimal beans. Brew on folks.

We regularly order 8 bags of Major Dickason's whole beans. Something is wrong with the taste in our latest order. (Rancid/chemical/awful taste) After inspection, I noticed no Roast Date on the pkgs. It has a freshest by date of 4/4/25... I thought Peets usually stamped that date about 3 months after roasting.

My hubby and I are spoiled to Peet’s. It’s our favorite. The price for this big bag is great. We go through it pretty quickly. We pour the whole beans into mason jars and store it in the cabinet rather than the bag it comes in. We grind it just before using.

I am ordering a couple more bags of this coffee and I hope it is packed a bit better. My last order of two bags came in a box from some other grocery item. My coffee was in this big box, not sealed, no top on it, and put on the edge of my porch. Luckily my dog barked at delivery person and I went out to get it right away. Packing needs to improve for sure.

Ever since my first taste of Major Dickason’s blend, I’ve been hooked, no other coffee can hold a candle to this blend. The look, the smell, and the taste are so good, you will NEVER want to drink anything else. I manually grind my own beans, and totally enjoy smelling the smells as the beans are grinding. Go ahead and treat yourself to the best coffee ever!

I received old stock coffee. Order placed on 07/21/20,,received today on 07/26/20 which is not bad,but problem is that coffee was roasted on 05/13/20 and freshness expire on 08/11/20,,so I have to use it in about 2 weeks only,,not fair!! I posted couple pictures for reference!!

This coffee is a love affair. I was introduced to Peet's back in 1998 by my English professor and I wondered why someone would like a bean so much they would have it shipped to them regularly. Now I know why!!!! My first concern when moving to Canada where I now live was if they sell Peet's here. Major D's blend is my old flame that I look for whenever I scan a store, a coffeebar, an online site...I'm always searching for that spark and if I do come across it I light up with the inspiration and magic of a first kiss and my heart is full. Thanks to Peet's I have a new lifelong obsession, friend, and old flame that ever burns brightly!!!!! Be prepared to take a journey if you try it....mine has lasted over twenty years and counting!
