TBD

I just received the generator. The good news, it worked day 1 with propane. The bad news, it won't run on gas. I've tried all the trouble shooting I could find in the manual and online. So far to no avail. I'm waiting for a call back from tech support which is why i'm here. They won't help until you register the generator you just bought. It's a little frustrating as it's a brand new and it doesn't fully work. I'm hoping that with some help from tech support I can get it up and running.

Perfect Power

This generator has been perfect. Started up without issue right out of the box, after adding the oil. The amount of noise produced is great. Quiet enough that you forget it is even running. Using this to provide power for my 35 foot fifth wheel camper and also serves as a backup for the house!

quiet- starts easy

I looked at the remote start. I wanted something quiet also a generator which was lite weight.'' about 98 lbs''. I ran generator for a short time. Started several times just to play. No problem. I got it for my RV to camp off the grid. I will have a better idea of how it works at the end of summer of 2022. I do like the manual that came with it. It covers a lot of info. I liked that. I like the control panel.

So far, so good.

Unit arrived in great shape. Packaging was excellent. Unpacked, charged battery, performed start-up procedures as outlined in the manual. Connected unit to propane tank via supplied regulator, selected propane as the fuel source, turned the battery on and pressed the start button. The unit started right up. I purchased this unit for both RV use and emergency home use. I have not put it through its paces yet but so far it appears to be doing what it's supposed to.

iGen4500DF

I ordered this Aug 25 2021 from Lowe’s, it came in yesterday Aug 30th. Picked it it up at the store and headed home. I was apprehensive about it because of some of the reviews that were scathing, there always seems to be those regardless of the brand. I was comparing the Champion inverter models with the Westinghouse inverter models. Many many people had problems starting the Champions on propane so I wasn’t having warm fuzzies over that. I didn’t see that with the Westinghouse reviews and that was a plus but still stuck in my mind. I wanted a duel fuel inverter model which made it a bit more difficult to find and 240vac split phase even harder. The 240v are very limited in manufactures and were cost prohibitive for me. I wanted the 240v to run the well pump, but I decided I would replace the carburetor on my old 1998 Generac 5500xl and use it solely to run the pump when needed. I unboxed it, read the literature and put the oil in it. .6qt of oil came with it and a nozzle that screws into the oil fill hole making it convenient to get the oil into the engine since it is enclosed. Generator was on a flat almost level surface but when I unscrewed the nozzle the oil overflowed. Don’t know if there was a bit more oil in the bottle or the engine just doesn’t take .6qt of oil. I couldn’t find anyplace the listed the amount it requires just that it overflows when filled up. I put it up for the night a storm was starting. Next day I took out again and connected the battery connections inside the battery compartment. No need to take the battery out to connect it, easy with the connectors already installed. I put a little gas in the tank and hooked up the propane also. I thought I might have to start it on gasoline and switch to propane. Thaw Champion reviews stuck in my mind but the Westinghouse can be started on gasoline and switched to propane while running...a big plus. I turned the battery switch on in the front and figured I would try starting on propane first. Selector switch on propane, turned gas on at tank, pushed the start button and it cranked over a for 1-2 seconds and vroom! Started right up! No problem! Went to plug in some battery chargers for hand tools and that was hard at first. The 120v outlets are really tight not loose and sloppy. They loosened up after using a few times. Quality parts (?) I want to think so. Overall I am very pleased with this machine and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends. The 3% THD is better than many, it’s a modified sine wave and not a pure sine wave like you would get out of a nice battery backup solar type generator. I would buy this unit again. Hope this is review is helpful.

Works as advertised

Worked right out of the box. Started instantly and it has performed as advertised. Read lots of reviews and chose Westinghouse because of size and features. I changed oil after five hours of running it at 25%. The oil was still good but I wanted to use those five hours as a break in to give the motor the best opportunity for success. The generator runs our RV 15k air conditioner with ease at 50 % capacity.

Very easy to operate.

The iGen4500DF is easy to operate. I really enjoy the FOB for instant startup. The LED Data Center keeps me informed about the generator's running time and fuel levels as well as the power level. I like the generators light weight and pull handle allowing me to take the generator almost anywhere with ease. With less than 3% THD I can run my laptop and television too. I favor the duel fuel option, in case I use up my LP fuel, I've always got gasoline available to keep the generator powering up my lights and refrigeration. The generator is hooked up to my transfer switch and it's so easy to power up the house during a power outage, which already happened..

Our IGen inverter generator saved us after Helene

We had an iGen4500Dfc before Hurricane Helene struck the southeast. We were able to keep refrigerators and freezers cold and phones charged before power could be restored. Very helpful to have flexibility of propane or gas, and the generator was easy on the fuel. Also the push button start was very convenient. We were so pleased that we bought another generator, an iGen5000Dfc to have as backup for us and for family for the next storm.

Great Features?

I just bought this inverter generator. I live at 6500 feet above sea level, so I was a little concerned that it might not work well. I also decided to use it with propane (which reduces the number of kilowatts that can be used). It started right away! Then I plugged in my motor home with the refrigerator on and it still worked great. After that, I turned on the air conditioner in my motor home to see how it would work with that, and it also kept plugging along! As an added bonus, it is very quiet for a generator. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Great Inverter Duel Fuel

I bought this generator to run my RV when electric not available. This has plenty of power to run Air conditioning and everything else. It is duel feed both propane and gasoline. Has all the power you need. It will also run your refrigerator in the house should your power go out.
