We needed a generator to back up to solar power at our off-grid cabin. This is the right size (and then a bit), and the dual fuel capability was very appealing since it will sit unused for weeks on end. Too soon to attest to reliability, but it has the chance to be a perfect fit.

Appears to be capable of everything claimed though I haven't "wrung it out". Compact. Easy to move about and store. Not too loud. Has started relatively easily so far. The manual is a little confusing in that it prescribes an external manual choke procedure when there is no external choke lever. Later the actual location of this model's choke lever is revealed. Also calls for a "fuel tank valve" lever. Haven't found that yet. It appears there are two sets of data displayed in the window: "Voltage (U) Frequency (F-) Lifetime Hours Run, Time/Maintenance" and "remaining run time (F) power output in kW (P) fuel level in liters (L) voltage output (V) and lifetime hours" It looks like it's only showing 4 of those. Packaging did it's job but wasn't the best or the worst. Had to connect battery, add oil (they give you almost twice what you need), and connect propane and it started right up. Will see how it lasts over time. I have a larger westinghouse generator that still works fine from 5 years ago.

I liked my first Westinghouse 4500DF that I bought a second one. I also bought the parallel kit to run them simultaneously for 50 amp service. I haven’t run them but based on the obvious quality of the construction and design it was not a mistake. I’ve recommended this product to friends already!

Being a senior citizen, we were looking for a generator with electric start and propane power. This one fit the bill. It is powerful enough to run the medical equipment my husband needs and numerous other items. The best part is I can start it without having to pull a cord.

We just bought this and are so pleased already. It started right up which was a great beginning! It is as quiet as advertised… no louder than one of our old 2000 watt generators and a whole lot quieter than the 5000 watt open frame we had to rent last year. Winter do your worst. We are ready with our new Westinghouse iGen4500DF generator. We are also looking forward to dry camping with it…it is an upgrade over our 2 daisy-chained Champion generators.

I bought the iGen4500DF last year, when PG&E started the power shut off stuff! It's the right size to run most of the essentials in my house. (no large appliances) Meaning, the frig, the freezer, Phone, TV, internet, the microwave, coffee pot, electric tea pot, and the wife's hair dryer. I found it to be just small enough to lift into the door of the trailer but you should probably use a ramp, its not that light. My bathroom scale says 114lbs. Its powerful enough to run the roof A/C with propane. With the RV extension core I bought separately, I can wake up in the morning, press the remote from inside the trailer, 50 ft away and have a Real cup of coffee! The generator has a service cover for the air filter and the oil. On the oil side, there is an actual drain plug over a rubber plugged hole in the bottom of the cover, to be able to change the oil without making a mess! Nicely thought out. The wheels and the stowaway handle make it easier to move and use without having something to trip over. I like that it shows the hours of run time, so I know to change the oil or clean the air filter. It has two USB charging ports that work well and 12v port that I haven't needed yet to charge a device or use with the supplied plug in 110v charger, to keep the generator's starting battery charged. I have only owned it for a year and used it on two camping trips and four power shut offs, but it's fairly quiet and starts every time.

I bought this generator a year and a half ago, and it has worked great for me on propane! Unfortunately, I never tried to run it on gasoline until a few months ago and it wouldn't start no matter what I tried. Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue so I'll get it in to be repaired. While I was researching the issue though, I found that there's an active recall for my serial number anyway, so hopefully it will all get worked out. It's been awesome on propane though and runs everything I need in my RV! Just hope to get it in for the bugs to be worked out.

I bought the Westinghouse iGen4500DFc Dual Fuel Inverter Generator after a huge storm that left me without power for days. I was worried that it may be difficult to setup or to start, but I was wrong! The instructions are clear, and I know I'll be prepared for the next storm!

I just got this on time shipped direct. I started without any issue (recoil start only version). It is very quiet compared to another brand traditional generator. There was no damage to the generator during shipment. I have only done a quick test and it puts out power. Time will tell but this is only a power outage backup so it won't get heavy use (Hopefully!!)
