Happy Customer!!!

After a lot of research on Dual Fuel Inverters, the Westinghouse iGen4500DF was a hands-down winner in terms of features and affordability. Because of its versatility, I feel like my family is now better equipped and prepared for the next power outage due to Texas's major weather storms.

Runs Great, with Power, BUT BREAKS!!

I purchased this generator in February 2022, but did not get to test until late July. The generator started immediately with the electric starter and continued to start during initial testing. Worked on gasoline and on propane. I am pleased with the electric start as well as gasoline and properation operation. The only negative comment is that the generator is louder than my 20 year old inverter generator. ON THE SECOND (2nd) MANUAL START, SOMETHING BROKE ON THE MANUAL STARTER AND THE ROPE WOULD NOT RETRACE. THE GENERATOR IS DOWN WITH 3 FEET OF ROPE HANGING.

Learning Process - First Time Users

I just purchased this and tested it out as soon as it arrived. The instructions were helpful since I have never owned a generator before. The features are great: 3 outlets, USB ports, really loved the digital display, and the key fob for remote on/off is handy. Will be using it for our pop-up camper. Only downside we see right now are the tools that came with it. The screwdriver already broke. I would recommend having your own tools with you and not rely on the ones that came with the generator.

So far so good

Got it today. In process of filling oil dropped dipstick and it fell down under the floor panel. Because i’d added oil it made it way more difficut as tilting it would have lex to oil gushing out if the dipstick hole. Took a plumbing camera a lond of long curved hemostats and an hour of fiddling to retrieve it. The oil fill/change system is this thing’s achilles heel. Definitely not looking forward to the first oil change. Once that was done on to the propane. The regulator assembly is super big and a but clunky to have hanging off the bottle with its weight riding on the connection. Propane line is very short, necessitating keeping the bottle right next to the gennie. Operationally it was fine. Started right up, ran for 5 hours powering a big fan and an rv converter with occasional a/c unit power which is ultimately the reason for the purchase. And for that it appears it’ll do just fine. Will update when its got some hours on it of real world use. Thys far though it’s better than the pair of paralled Ryobi’s its replacing. They would often struggle just to light off the a/c unit, let alone anything else. While I cant fire up both the 13,500 and the 10,200 a/c’s (as least on propane) it does handle the big one woth biatloads of breathing room. Much quieter than the ryobi’s were as well.

Like a Workhorse!

Bought this beauty about two weeks before a microburst, from a tornado active system, destroyed two of my trees and the Hydro-Quebec pole, ripping out the wires connected to my house. One thing led to another, and before you knew it three weeks went by (I have no time to describe the series of events that led to that unfortunate delay before electrical power was functioning again). Got the iGen 4500 DFc going, and it didn't fail me once during all that time. Well over 100 hours (broken up over the 20 days) without skipping a beat! Made things a lot easier! Would buy it again 10x over!

Premature rating, but positive so far

Got this a couple weeks ago and went through the break on period. While breaking it in I tested all the features to see if it was working properly. So far so good. Just what I was looking for. Now it’s ready for it’s true test; power outage. Quite at idle and low watt items. Does get a little loud when under heavy strain. Oil change is a bit cumbersome. Nice compact package. Nice features. Like the recoil backup start. Love the propane option. Handle vibrates when running, a little annoying. Plastic cover showed some minor damage. Overall it should meet my needs and it’s what it promised. Pretty minor complaints, but it did make me knock off a star.

I'll buy another one.

Just purchased and am pleased. Setup was easy. It will take a few pulls the first time to get fuel where it needs to be to start but after that it is quite effortless. The unit reads about 75db from a couple of feet away, but i was able to hear my phone that was sitting on top of the unit. Eco mode significantly quieter with no load or minimum load. The only issue i have is that it does not tell you how much oil it takes and you have to keep checking it as you fill to make sure you don't overfill. The oil funnel screws into the motor when filling which is nice. All in all, for the price point and functionality, this seems to be a good generator.

Super quiet and fuel efficient.

I’ve always had the basic construction type of generator that work well but are super loud. I just Upgraded to this inverter style and what a difference! It is a solid well built unit. You can stand next to It and have a normal conversation. No more upsetting the neighbors.

Arrived Safely

I bought this a month ago.You arrived with no damage to the packaging. I initially had a problem finding the connection for the battery. The plug in for the battery was very tight which I think it's good. The oil fill is a little awkward. After I completed all the checks and push the remote start, it started up on L.P. gas right away..

2nd Unit Was Fine

I purchased my first iGen 4500DF on October 15th, 2021. Delivery was very fast. Setup was easy and the generator started right away. I am using propane. After running 20 to 25 minutes it just stopped. I could not get it restarted. At this time I contacted my dealer and they shipped me out a new iGen4500DF. The old unit was returned back to Westinghouse. The second unit has been working great. Starts every time and runs very well. Also, the first generator had the auto choke disconnected as many others had commented on in their reviews. I haven't checked the second unit yet as I only use propane.
