My opinion

For the price I just expected things to be better quality. The straight slide is a thin piece of plastic held up by a couple bars underneath and the two sides of the slide. Very cheap feeling. The tube slide is also very very thin material. Wood also seems just cheap and started to crack in some places when screwing in screws. Overall I wouldn't purchase again.

Kids + adults love it!

The kids love all that there is to do...our kids love the double slides and crows nest! We often have 5-8 kids playing at a time and there’s plenty of room for everyone. The adults love that it’s high quality and looks nice! This is our second build-it-yourself playground and this one is a real winner! It took us two solid weekends to put it together, but all the parts were delivered and in good shape! We’ve had it for 3 months and it’s been a life-saver during this stay at home spring/summer.

Great value

I bought this for my kids and they love it. My kids are 6 and 3, it’s a great size for them now and should last for several more years. It’s a good size for our yard, some other play sets are much too big. I thought the amount of features you get for the cost was great, this was a third of the price another local company charges for playset with install. My only complaint is how many pieces it comes in and the time to install however we were prepared from reading other reviews we just secretly hoped it would be faster. My husband took a week off of work and it took the majority of his regular work schedule but he did it alone with my help on a few minor things with the twisty slide.

Simply Flawless and Very Loved

Ok I am very pleased with this play set! I read many reviews, many people said they had problems with assembly. I went very slow and it resulted in zero errors in the assembly process. In turn i was able to prepare the location, assemble the play set, and fill the play area with a safety bedding all within 5 days 100 percent by myself! My son loves it!, I love it!, my wife loves it!, everyone loves it! It is very sturdy and it looks great in the yard. It was totally worth every penny and im very glad we have it. What are young memories of? My sons’ will include playing with his friends on this playset for years! So grateful, thank you for a great product.

Fantastic Quality - 11/10 Reccommend

We are so happy with our purchase of this playground for our 3 year old! We cannot wait to watch him grow into it and love it for the next several years. Shipping was quick. Pieces were clearly labeled and not a single one was damaged. Instructions were extremely clear and easy to follow - just takes a good amount of time to build!

Fun and sturdy!

We bought this over the summer and are so happy with it. It comes with a lot of pieces and took a while to put together but it was totally worth it. Our kids love it and it’s really great quality. We hung the web swing that we already had so the swing pictured is not what comes with the set. The swing included is slightly smaller and black.

Very pleased with the experience and product

I bought the Skyfort w/Tube Slide as a present for my 5 year old daughter. I consider myself an amateur DIY'er with wood. I work on my own cars, do some major repairs there, but not too much of a woodsmith, if that tells you anything. This review is both a review and tips and tricks. I hope it's helpful. REVIEW: The boxes arrived via a friendly freight company. Minimal damage to one of the four boxes which resulted in about six pieces of wood needing replacement. Backyard Discovery was very quick to replace them after I registered online. Unfortunately, once they shipped those parts out, FedEx damaged and delayed my order further. Backyard Discovery went above and beyond and reshipped the order as quickly as they could. The wood was all medium to high quality. I looked over each piece and found few defects or warping. In total, I would count approximately five pieces that had some warping straight out of the box. Not a biggie. The stain applied was appropriate. The pieces had a few splinters to be expected, but I found nothing excessive. The assembly went well and although there are tricky parts (the Crow's Nest can be difficult in portions), I built it 90% myself with my wife running into the garage to feed me more wood to build. Two people make handling the large portions much easier. Doubtful I could have handled moving the tube slide myself, for example. But again, it was easy to construct about 90% solo if that's the route you want to go. I took well over the advertised timeframe of 20 hours or so, to ensure it was being built level and sturdy. Not sure I'd honestly trust this to a contracted company. My daughter loves the playset and especially the two entry methods into the fort, the A frame with shingles (most playsets have very boring tarps), and the Crow's Nest. I found the pricepoint to be better than other similiar DIY playsets and I've seen my fair share out there. Other parents were really impressed with the quality and very surprised when I told them the price. I do have plenty of tips though that I feel will weed out complaints listed below. 1.) Yes, there are tons of pieces of wood and they do appear to come almost totally disorganized in the boxes. Do take the time to pull them all out, count them (we did this like it was an inventory), and then sort them. Start the return/replacement process now to get your pieces shipped out quickly if you need to. 2.) Backyard Discovery requires you to waterseal the wood at some point. I took the long route for better results. You can spray down the playset after it's fully assembled, but you'd miss a lot of parts and angles. I took out each page of instructions, located the wood, gave a very quick sanding of 120grit (very lightly!) and then applied a water-based seal. Let one side dry, then flip and repeat. I used about 2 and half gallons total. Use a normal pump sprayer for quicker work. The very light sanding also helps remove small splinters and defects! I was extremely pleased with the texture of the wood after doing this treatment. I ended up using Olympic WaterGuard with good results but I would think any water-based product would be just as easy. 3.) Before you assembly, I'd really recommend you use a covered area like a garage to set out all your pieces. Once I had sealed all my pieces, I essentially laid out the wood for say, Pages 1-4 in one pile, then 5-10 in the next, and so on. This made running the pieces of wood quick and non-frustrating. A lot of larger pieces can be assembled in a garage or indoor area before final assembly (the ladder, the rock wall, the slides, etc). 4.) Before you mash in a T-nut, test fit a bolt to ensure good threading! Overall, the quality of the hardware is very good, but you will inevitably find a t-nut that was machined poorly or a bolt that has a bend to a spline. Test your hardware by joining it a few rotations, then assemble. This avoids frustration. Backyard Discovery ships plenty of extra pieces of every bit of hardware in case you run into trouble. I found several defective pieces, but had plenty of spares thankfully. A+ to Backyard Discovery for doing this ahead of time and not forcing customers to order extra spares. 5.) One drill will do the job, but you are much better with two or even three cordless drills if you have them. One for screws, one for drill bits, etc. I even brought out a lower level impact driver which made lags go in much easier. This will prevent you from constantly swapping bits. Don't even think of doing this playset without a good drill and extra batteries. 6.) Use the BILT app! The paper instructions they provide are adequate and I used the paper ones for maybe 80-85% of the work. But sometimes the 3D view of BILT made it WAY easier to understand. This app was a lifesaver in a few unusual sections. It's free. Use it! Overall, would I want to build one of these again myself? Probably not. It's a lot of work, but it is far from DIFFICULT work. It's very do-able if you plan ahead and take your time and add in extra work to prep the wood. It's a big playset, please don't think you'll pop open the boxes and set it up overnight. This does require a gameplan. I have been on the verge of tears before because of frustrating DIY auto and home repairs. In comparison, this playset didn't once bring me to that point, so I'm a happy customer. And my daughter loves every bit of it, so that's the important end result.

Good swingset - read review for assembly tips!

Fairly easy to assemble but time consuming. Here are a few tips to make things easier. 1. Delivery comes in 6 pieces - 4 long/heavy boxes, one large square box (tube slide) and the wavy slide (in plastic bag). Sort all the wood first! I sorted by part numbers/letter (ie., G38, F45 etc). The numbers are stamped in black ink before the wood stain is applied and are hard to read. Using white chalk to mark the number on each piece (of dark stained wood - the lighter wood was MUCH easier to read part numbers) was time consuming initially but made things go much faster once we started assembling. 2. Read the warranty rules! According to the warranty, the wood needs to be sealed or the warranty is invalid. Of course, I didn't notice this until after the swingset was assembled, which means sealing it will be a mjor PITA (the roof is 12 feet high!). It would have been much easier to seal each piece as it was inventoried. 3. When assembling the roof support brackets (v-shaped), instructions call for drilling a pilot hole on only one side to avoid splitting. I did this but the other side started to split. After repairing the split (glue, clamp, let dry), I drilled the pilot hole through both pieces (after fitting them together with clamps) - no problem with splitting. 4. MAKE SURE YOUR SITE IS LEVEL! This is especially important with the swing arm support assembly! My husband didn't notice that neither corner of the support assembly touched the ground (off by 1-2 inches) which causes A LOT of movement and creaking when swings are in use. It also renders the ground augers useless. 5. Have a system for keeping track of hardware - there is a LOT of it! 6. The system we used for assembly made things go smoothly: After sorting and labeling wood pieces, I grouped the pieces needed for each step and put all the hardware in ziplock bags labeled with part numbers. (To avoid confusion, similar parts were put in separate bags). Bags were reused when emptied but we still used 25+ baggies. A sharpie works great for labeling the bags - you can reuse for the same part numbers and/or cross out old numbers. We used two 6 foot folding tables - one for sorting hardware etc and the other for putting wood/hardware in groups for each step. You'll receive two instruction manuals - one in english, the other in french/spanish. My husband used the english version for assembly while I used the french version to sort parts for each step. The part numbers are the same in both languages. I also highly recommend using the Bilt app. It shows step by step instructions and you can move the pictures around for better viewing. It's great!! Sorting and chalk-labeling the wood took me several hours but made a HUGE difference when it came time to assemble the swing. Most of the instructions are pretty easy to understand and there is a parts list at the top of each page for that step. Once we got started on the actual assembly, it took my husband and I two 8-hour days to build the swingset and neither of us is young (55) or experienced. It helps to have two cordless drills so one can build the stairs, climbing wall, and porch roof while the other works on the main unit. Of all the wooden pieces we received, only one had minor damage (small crack) but since it didn't effect appearance or integrity we used it. CHECK the tube slide pieces before you begin! The flanges on four of ours were cracked (box was probably dropped during shipping) and had to be replaced but customer service was AWESOME. I used the chat function on Backyard Discovery's website and the parts were shipped out same day at no charge. All in all, it was a fun project and our grandsons LOVE their new swing! ****Four stars only because the numbers on the dark stained wood are very hard to see and can be confusing because of the font used.

Family bonding moments!

I can't say enough great things about this playset. It has great slides, plenty of swings, and provides enough space and features for my 5 great grandchildren to play on. The rock wall is great for younger kids. It gives them the excitement of climbing while encouraging them to grow past the limits of what they are timid about. I worried they would all want the fun circle swing and we would have some bickering over it. I was wrong there! There's so many other features they enjoy, they quickly find another amazing thing to play on. It's very important to me for my family to be health and active. This playset has great structure and quality. This playset gives me peace of mind seeing them running, swinging, laughing and enjoying all the shangians of 3-11 year olds. Everyday my great grandchildren are begging to come over. This playset has not only given them a great adventure but has given me memories I never imagined. If I w wasn't 82 years old and a little past the limitation of use I'd be up there with them!
