Sturdy and Fun with Young Children--Poor Seat Design

We bought this kayak for use in a pond near our home. We have 2 young grandchildren and the sit on top tandem is perfect for getting them on the water. The kayak is sturdy--a bit heavy--but stable and comfortable with an adult and 2 smalls. The kids love getting on and paddling. However, the seat design is poor. Seats are movable and anchored by a series of straps and clips that pop off the moment any real weight is placed against the seat backs. This makes comfortable sitting on the kayak a challenge. We have already lost one clip and must continuously reattach the others. I wish the seat backs were molded vinyl that slid into various slots. Again, great for young children and especially for relaxed, short distance paddling.

First kayak - great value for our purposes

Bought this kayak in orange over July 4th weekend on a whim. Figured my wife and I could enjoy some fun while getting some exercise in a new sport that would allow us to participate together. The kayak is a bit heavy, but easily handled by two persons. The seat backs are moulded plastic held in place by snap-in mounts and adjustable side straps. While not the most comfortable seatbacks, they do the job for the intended purpose of a kayak at this price point. The rear "handle" is a moulded grip point, not the best but it works. I intend to add a corded handle as is on the front to aide in transport. The kayak tracks well in the open but protected bay and in the local water control canals. I'm 6', she's 5'6" and we both fit comfortably in this kayak. We transport it utilizing the stock roof racks on a 2dr Ford Explorer - easy enough done by one person once you get the procedure under your belt. All in all, a great value for enjoying some fun on the water.

Great Family and Fishing Kayak

I have owned this kayak for approximately a year now. It has room for two adults and 1 child. I used this last summer with my wife and 10 year old daughter in our local lake. The kayak is very stable and moves at a steady pace even though it has some weight to it. The maneuvering capability is sufficient; you may have to make a few more side to side motions to keep on track while paddling. I also customized this kayak for fishing, and it works out great for stashing gear and holding your poles. Please note that this kayak is heavy, and takes a lot to get used to if you are going to use this by yourself. The size is nice and doesn't look that long, until you try to stand it upright to put on top of your car. I could never get enough holding power, so I installed 3 additional handles so I would be able to pick it up to place on top of the car. I also had to buy an attachment for my bike rack. It's a bar that sticks out and act as a 2nd person once you place the kayak in the corner. Even though there are minor drawbacks to this kayak, I am still giving it 5 stars because the kayak has done everything I've asked of it. The price was also nice, it holds 3 people, and this is a solid body kayak. For family trips and fishing this is a sure thing.

Double lifetime kayak

My husband and I purchased a double kayak 8 weeks ago and just LOVE it! We have used it SO much! It is a sit on top. How easy to get in and off, and how nice that feature is as you get older. Love the wide base it is so sturdy and not tipsy. We love this so much we might get another one.

Good times!

Bought this and a Pacer for my boys' birthdays. Tried them out for the first time today. Good times! The Kokanee is quite stable. It's a little heavy and bulky on land, but handled easily enough by two people. Handles well in the water. I purchased padded seat bottoms, as I was told a long trip would be uncomfortable without them. Only complaint I can possible come up with is it was missing a couple small parts.

Strap Parts

I was extremely impressed with the parts customer service. I called due to losing a couple of my seat strap clips. I spent so much time looking everywhere online for it without any luck. I finally ended up calling their parts department (which I should have done first). They told me they would send me the parts free of charge and that I did not need to pay any shipping. Wow! I am extremely impressed with their customer service and I will continue purchasing their quality products. Thanks Lifetime!

Great price, great starter kayak. Very stable but

We took our new Kokanee kayak Labor day weekend to Cocoa Beach Fla, We had a great time but after the 3rd trip out we notice it was very unstable and hard to control. we over turned it, then had to swim back to shore with it in tow. I opened the hatch and seen the hull was full of water. I drained it and double checked the seals and lid tightness. We took it out again and when we came back I check and it took on more water. I suspect it was leaking around the hatches. I took it back to the dealer and they are going to replace it. I will keep you informed.

fun kayak

First Kayak I have owned. This kayak needs a better handle in the back to make it easier to carry. The seat backs are just made of plastic and will sometimes pop out of the clips that hold them in place. Other than the handles and seats this is a very fun kayak and I plan to own it for years to come.

Awesome Kayak for the price.

I bought this kayak about a year ago and I love every piece of it. Kayak is built strong, I was able to fit my two kids (5 and 7 Years old) my wife and myself comfortably, kayak is very stable even with three adults in it. You will have hours of fun and entertainment with this Kayak without spending too much money.

Only one handle to carry with not user friendly

Bought last year and right away the cheap plastic seats buckle in the middle according to lifetime they do not have a upgrade or even recommend one the way the seat straps are you will have to modify the attachment to the kayak as i have not found a attachment like lifetime has on kayak so add more money to kayak to be able to use
