Great little AC

When picking an ac unit, make sure you size it correctly for the size of the room you want to cool. Overall, its a nice little unit, not too loud, at least compared to other units I've owned over the years. I love how there is a drain plug you can remove to let the water drain out. I hate the pinging of water inside the unit hitting the fan blades ... I do like a constant fan when sleeping, so the pinging sounds of water keeps me up. While they say removing the plug the unit is not as efficient, getting a good night sleep is more important at least to me it is. so I don't use energy saver mode at night, so the fan stays on all the time. The airflow fins are way too small to even be remotely effective, you can tilt the air up and down, a few degrees of movement, but left to right, forget about it, the fins that control left/right air flow are the size of a postage stamp and are spaced several inches apart from each other. Poor design, save the money and don't even put the left/right fins if they don't do a darn thing. However, on a positive note, I love the ability to control the unit remotely, so I can turn it on as I'm leaving work, so by the time I get home, I walk into a nice cool room. Since I leave work at a different time every day, using the timer feature is not useful to me as my schedule changes daily. The app tells you how much electric used so can have an idea what it costs you to run it, which is kinda cool... no pun intended. My only complaint is the display goes off after a few seconds ... when in energy saver mode, the fans are off, no lights, I can't tell if the unit is off or on?. I left for work, saw no lights were on so I assumed it was off. When I went to turn it on after I left work, the app showed it was still on. I wish there was a way to set if you wanted the display to turn off or stay on in settings in the app. A solution is to not use energy saver mode, so you can hear the fan going and know its on. The app was difficult to setup based on the information provided in the box, however, I went to a popular video website GE has a video on how to setup the app. It said the same thing, but seeing it done, made it easier to understand.

8000 BTU AC

I am disappointed in this unit for it being a GE unit owned by Haier. This unit is smaller than the displayed model in store but purchased anyway thinking maybe the small build was technologically advanced. Once installed it didn’t cool as well as my replaced larger unit by Arctic King. Also condensation would form on the louvers which wouldn’t drop onto the floor but I was stilled uncomfortable with that. It blew cool but not cold.

Works well

This AC is quiet and smooth running. It cools well and the installation materials are well thought out. I was particularly impressed with the power cord length which was longer than expected. The only drawback is the adjustable vent for directing air flow doesn't seem to do much. Regardless of how you have it pointed the air mostly blows out straight.

Luv the tech feature/app

I've owned 2 GE 8k btu units. This one is the third, really find the tech features a major convenience. Ability 2 operate unit remotely with my phone instead of the remote, monitoring room temp and energy usage r extremely valuable features 4 me. Will buy 4th one when needed.

Perfect fit

I have a medium to large sized room and it cools perfectly! I love that the display goes out after a bit so that it's not so bright during the night. I use the app to set the temperature while I'm at work and I also can keep an eye on electricity usage.

No issues!

I use this to cool a 740 SF space. It doesn't quite cover some of the nooks and cranny's or the farthest room away from the unit, but it does keep most of the space cool, especially in the room I sleep in. Only complaint is it doesn't seem to be as energy efficient as I thought; could be a draft house though.

Good value cools well

Cools very well (brings a 15 x 20 sq ft room from 80 to 74 degrees in about 1 hour), a good value and fairly quite. The only issue is the ECO mode. It is inconsistent at best. Very wide temperature variations. This seems to be associated with the fan not coming on consistently to sample the room air. It should come on for 2 minutes every 8 minutes. Sometimes it will come on for only 1 or 2 cycles then stop. Without this feature working properly, the residual cool air in the evaporator coil gives a false reading to the thermostat. Must be a software glitch..a firmware upgrade is needed

Great features! Low the Wifi

This was my first AC window unit. All my previous apartments had central air. Don’t have anything to compare it to but I love the wireless feature. I’m able to turn on as I’m coming home from work to a nice cool apartment. The only reason I’m rating 4 instead of 5 is because it was a hassle to assemble and place in window. It also do leak A LOT when it’s humid. But I put towels underneath on the hot humid days.

I love the use of the Bluetooth on my phone

I love the use of the Bluetooth on my phone I can turn it on when my dog is home and it gets super hot and I don’t have to get up from doing work at my desk to turn it off when I’m at home, the schedule doesn’t always work, it does take a while to get to the proper temperature for those reasons it’s getting a 4/5 after the first two months of use.

THE BEST we have found!

Living in Hawaii, it gets very hot and humid. Our home does not have central air conditioning. We have tried numerous air conditioners for our bedroom and the other brands would not cool our room well, not because of lack of BTU, but the design of their product did not do the job. Compared to the others, GE Appliances is AMAZING!
