We ALWAYS use Kingsford when charcoal grilling. We recently started using charcoal again after about 10 years of using a propane grill. We got out the old bag of briquettes and started them up. Worked great! when we ran out we bought a new bag. Our old dutch oven recipe called for exactly 14 briquettes on the botom and 4 on top. Always worked before! not with the new "improved" Kingsford! Took another 50% more time to cook the cobbler! Same for the dutch oven chicken. So we have to use more briquettes to achieve the result we want in the time we want. How's that for economy?!?! So it costs more, but Kingsfordd is still the best!

I've tried the other brands. I thought I could save a little money. Big mistake. You get what you pay for, and Kingsford is the best. They light the best and burns the longest. No competition. My advice is to stock up on the 40 lb. twin pack when they go on sale for $9.99 at the big box home improvement stores.

We donated the use of our smoker for a Boston butt fundraiser. The group has some knock-off brand charcoal and I had to continually put more on the fire all night. Never again, our smoker usually likes only four bags to cook all night. And when you have ninety 10-12 butts in your pit, there's nothing quite like the consistancy and smell of good ole Kingsford regular. We'll never allow anything but Kingsford in our smoker again!

Our family has been using Kinsford products my whole life. When i was young my Dad told me Kingsford was the best, its all he would use so naturely its all I use today. I love the smell and the taste of anything cooked over the Kingsford coals. Keep grilling!!

I have been a Kingsford customer for the past 17 years. I have never been so disappointed in the quality of the Kingsford Original Charcoal that I have purchased for the past few years. I used to love the brand but lately, the charcoal that I have been purchasing seems to burn a whole lot faster than what it did a few years back. Although I will continue to purchase and recommend Kingsford Original Charcoal to my family and friends I hope that the quality improves as far as the burn time is concerned.

I've been reading the reviews of the Kingsford "blue" and the competition briquettes. It seems that most, if not all, the folks have had prior experience with Kingsford going back several years/decades, as well as with other brands of charcoal. I haven't used charcoal since 1978. I'm just getting back into charcoal grilling and barbecuing with a newly-purchased Weber kettle. So, I have no point of reference, save for my experience getting back into charcoal. I followed the instructions for using my chimney starter. I'm learning, slowly, how to moderate the cooking temp by opening/closing the grill vents, AS WELL AS adjusting the amount of charcoal. The only problem I'm finding with the product is the amount of ash. I'm told that it's normal for briquettes. I tried another brand of lump charcoal in a dry run; but I haven't cooked with it yet. It burns hotter and faster than the briquettes. I'm establishing my baseline with Kingsford blue. I'm adjusting the grill vents, cooking times and amount of charcoal based on my current experience, without the benefit of having used the product in the past. So far, I did one rack of ribs and one beef brisket. Both were tasty, with no off taste. BUT, both came out on the dry side, due no doubt to my struggle to maintain a low and slow cooking temp. I gave Kingsford blue a 3-star rating only because I'm just starting out. It's a brand I recognize and trust. As I gain more experience I'll venture out to try different brands. But for now, Kingsford blue is it for me. If it ain't broke, I ain't fixin' it.

I have been using Kingsford for like forever. Tried the store and cheaper brands and found they are a waste of money. I smoked a pork butt one weekend and even after it was finished in the afternoon, the fire pan was still hot the next day. When I smoke I will add it to lump charcoal and my temps have stayed even for hours. I don't use lighter fluid and it still only takes about 30 min. to get them lit and ready.

I have just opened my second bag of Kingsford Original charcoal in six weeks that is so dusty it almost unusable. This is not what I have come to expect from Kingsford. This has been my go to for many years but that will change if I keep opening product that looks like this.

We are huge grillers - dh will grill every weekend, sun, rain, or snow!! We have used store brands before, but always come back to Kingsford. The extra you may pay (part of the time it's the same price) is worth the fact that it lasts as long as we need it to last.

I have tried different charcoals but I continuously come back to Kingsford. It stays lit longer and works great for my grill and my smoker. It also requires less when I use it because of how hot it burns and how long it stays lit. It is my go to charcoal for barbecue season.
