The Jamaican jerk flavor is excellent and the pastry is really nice, but my husband said they’re a little dry. They could use some sort of dipping sauce. We made them in the air fryer as recommended, but the outside didn’t get very crispy. They’re fairly thin, so a grown man could easily eat 4 at a time along with a side dish.

These beef turnovers were ok. I used an air fryer and followed the directions on the package. They tasted fine but I found that the crust was very crumbly and dry. They made a real mess while I was eating it. The filling was flavorful and I thought the amount was of the right proportion. I also liked that they were packaged individually with instructions on the package. I thinks that the time requirement on the air fryer should be reduced so the crust doesn’t dry out as much. I did not prepare them any other way. Oven baked or frying is an option.

The product is packaged well. I like that it comes with 10 servings individually wrapped. This makes it easier to store in the freezer as well as easier to eat as an individual meal. That said, the taste of the product is just okay. It was okay as a frozen product but I’d prefer fresh any time.

These took me back to Jamaica! These beef Pattie’s are very good. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars only because the dough was a little drier than I remember Jamaican Pattie’s being. With that being said the filling had a great flavor with a kick of hotness! All told I really enjoyed these Pattie’s but if you don’t like spicy, these may not be for you. You get 10 to a box which is enough for a family of four or you could cut them up and serve them as appetizers. I’m sharing a picture of the patties from the back of the package. The dough is a little yellow/orangish which is different. I say give them a try!

These were good. They were on the spicier side. We cooked them in the toaster oven exactly as recommended. They came out perfectly cooked. The crust was fine. I prefer a somewhat flakier crust. I was expecting a little more filling than they had. It was a generous portion.

The Island Joe Jamaican Style Patties are a premade meat patty with Jamaican spices. They are easy to make, just pop them in the oven or air fryer which takes between 12-24 minutes depending on which cooking method you choose. The spices are good and the crust is nice and flaky. It is big enough to fill you up and can be a handheld grab and go. The reason for the 4 stars is that the sodium is high, and also the fat content for those who are watching these numbers. Although high, it’s lower than most fast-food joints and about in line with other heat and serve freezer foods. I also was surprised that these are not microwavable. The first one I had was put in the microwave, without reading the directions and thinking that it since it was cooked, it could just be warmed up that way. But it did not work as well as baking or air frying. It makes a big difference in the taste of the crust. I have an air fryer so it still didn’t take long to heat up and it made a difference with the flakiness of the crust and overall taste. So, I would follow the directions for heating instructions. Over all the taste of the Jamaican Meat Patties was good, nice flaky crust and pretty easy to heat. The only problem for me is the sodium content.

The only method that we prepared these was in the air fryer, so that may have impacted the review. The inside had good flavor and a fair amount of spice. The outside shell was a disappointment. Both in flavor and texture. 30% of them crumbled a bit after cooking. Would I eat them again, yes. Would I buy them, probably choose something else.

I really wanted to like these. I originally thought thought they would be like a hot pocket type product. However, you have to either heat these in the oven or air fryer and they take about 15-24 minutes. No microwave directions are included. The flavor was just ok. They were spicy, but not very flavorful. I actually had to eat this with some Cholula hot sauce.

My family and I did not enjoy the beef patties. Upon receiving the package (late), the box itself smelled undesirable. I cooked them in the oven as I did not have an air fryer, and I followed the cooking instructions; however, they remained slightly soggy on the inside while the outside was clearly done. The overall snack was gummy and reminiscent of an elementary school snack (and not in a good way). This felt like a mandatory school snack rather than a quick and easy meal for a family. The meat was pasty and the aftertaste lingered. I am unsure of how to fully describe the flavor as it was slightly spicy without having a real distinct flavor. The aftertaste reminded me of b.o. in my mouth. We did try cooking them longer than the recommended cook time to try and crisp them up, but we were unable to get rid of the gummy consistency. None of the four people in my family was willing to take more than one very small bite. I would not buy this product as a quick, easy meal or snack as it was not visually appealing, did not smell good, and the taste was undesirable.

I really wanted to like these because it would have been a quick easy meal but neither my son or I were impressed. We cooked in the air fryer and the outside was crisp but the texture of the inside was just too mushy for my preference and it took me back to cafeteria food at school and my taste buds just don’t like that kind of food anymore. We did not finish the box and we will not be purchasing.
