I could not be more disappointed in the iRobot. I have 2 dogs and was very excited to have the iRobot run early am and get up to clean floors. When it arrived there was an issue with the bumpers. I was instructed to take it apart to correct the problem. While this worked I was slightly annoyed an expensive vacuum arrived with a problem. It has never worked properly. I have heating grates in my floors that it gets stuck on. When I get up in the morning and find it stuck to the battery is dead and floors are still dirty. I have spent hours on the phone with customer service. They offered "virtual fences". The device would have to be set up at each grate (there are 7) to prevent the robot from getting close. It is not feasible to have these things on my floor in 7 locations with dogs and kids in the house. My only solution at this point is to cover the grates with boxes or magazines before going to bed and pick them up in the morning. Not exactly convenient. It takes 3 hours to do about 1,000 sq ft between charging and emptying the bin. The bin sometimes empties every 15 minutes. When the bin empties it sounds like a plane taking off. It is on my main floor but wakes up anyone sleeping on a floor above or below. While I could get a newer, more expensive model with mapping to avoid the grates, I would still have to deal with the noise of the bin emptying. While the concept of iRobot is a great one, it is useless if it doesn't run properly and is extremely noisy. Before you purchase, read the reviews.

I purchased this in late 2021 to use in a new house. Didn't start using it until late February 2022. I continuously get error message about cleaning the brushes, also something about "debris". I can never find anything wrong that needs cleaning. I thought it would be nice not to have to empty it but sometimes it goes back to the charging station a couple of time during a run to empty. I live by myself so the house is not that dirty. I have a confused vacuum cleaner! Definitely a waste of my money!
