I bought this system because of the 4K and good reviews I leave on a dead end road and my wife needed some peace of mind knowing she could look outside without opening the door. The cameras have good quality and the distance is great even at night.I like the easy setup and installation it was simple. Only thing it only turns up or down and I need it to turn right on two cameras to get a better view and if it did it would be a five star I recommend this system very highly. 100% better than a Sony system my neighbor has.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a valuable security system. It comes with 8 cameras. Cable for each camera is roughly 50 ft. in length. Since it is a wired system, even before it arrived, we expected that setting up will involve more work than a wireless system. But the instruction is very clear with color-coded cables; the most important thing is that you need to decide where you want to put the DVR and how you are going to run the cables. I see that a lot of people running cables from attic, but we are lucky that we have a deck with unfinished roof, so we ran the cables under the roof and in the near future, we will finish the roof and nobody will see our cables. It took us 2 afternoons after work (about 2 hours each day) to get 5 cameras running. The quality of the pictures is unreal. I am super satisfied with this aspect. You can also download free app and get notifications on your cell phone. There are many options with this system; you can record continuously or just record when there is motion. You can have different combination of camera display at a time on the screen. So many different options to explore and take advantage of. Night visions are clear in black and white. It is so amazing how technology is so improved and shown in this system. The only thing I wish was different was that I wish cables come in different length. A couple of my cameras need only about 30 ft length, while if there were a couple cables that came in a length of 70 or 80 ft, that would be so much more convenient, especially for a set of this size. We are still installing the rest of the cameras and are looking to see if we can purchase longer cables for these, because they are going to have to go around the house to the garages in the back. Overall, this is the best security system you can have. Setting up takes some work, but it is expected with a wired system. And in compensation, you get an outstanding quality of records and pictures. I highly recommend this system.

Initially was contemplating getting help installing the system but after reading the instructions wanted to try myself and was able to install within a couple of hours. There is quite a lot of functionality available especially an app where you can receive notifications , a great system at an affordable price point to secure your home and providing that additional security.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture is great and everything is very easy to use but due to the cameras being wired you have to do an enormous amount of planning and labor for installation. For a business or office with drop tile ceilings or new construction this would be fantastic but for established homes I would suggest considering wireless based on my experience.

I just finished my install this last weekend. At first I thought how would I ever use 16 cameras but as I was designing the coverage areas I was glad I had 16! The picture quality is amazing. I would recommend that before you install the cameras that you temporarily attach at least one and move it around live to different locations so you can see exactaly what the coverage will be like and where the best placement would be. My only thing left to figure out is if I can use a 720p monitor instead of a 4K.

I bought these cameras this past summer due to crime increasing in my area. These cameras are great and even the police have commented on the great footage, as they have taken footage 3 times from me since I got them set up. I was concerned about them working in extreme cold and right now we are in a cold snap of -37c over night with wind chill of close to -50c and they are working great with no issues!

Just received this. The system configures and installs as I had expected (I have installed many before - other brands, etc., and they all work the same. Great video quality. Setup seemed pretty simple, advanced needs some more detail for advanced customers so we don't have to bother customer support.

This is my honest review and my first I’ve ever done. I bought this camera about two months ago and I’m going to say that even though it was my first home security camera system, this will be the last and only company I use from this point on. My family’s safety and my peace of mind is what I think about all the time and this camera system and company has made both a top priority I believe. The 4K is crystal clear, the night vision is outstanding and the look and quality I feel can not be outdone. I’m 34 and even though it’s 2019 I still believe that a man is only as good as his word and take it from me when I say this system is highly recommended. Since this is an honest review I will say only one down side that maybe could be fixed in the long run. Please provide longer camera lines as 60’ isn’t enough a lot of times. If you included 100’ line I feel it would be much better. I bought extensions but every break in the line is another place for moisture or an issue to come about “especially here in miserable hot and humid Florida” versus solid dedicated 100’ lines. Other than that I feel that’s a minor issue and you still deserve ever bit of the 5 star I gave you. Thank you! Josh Florida

I have to replace my third Defender DVR as the drive failed like the previous ones in the past four years. Never has Defender covered the warranty which I guess is only 90 days. Very difficult to reach support always. If you’re not a super patient person you’ll never reach their support technicians. I have to stick with Defender unfortunately because I have their cameras wired all around my house which was a major task. It took weeks to run the cables and get all wires to the DVR. Warning! If this is your first surveillance system Do Not buy Defender. It’s also a complicated setup technically much more Duffy than most. And I’m a techie and find their system confusing.

System is pretty good. Video quality is good but not as good as I was expecting from 4K. Also, the sensitivity of capturing motion is about 90%, as I still get a lot of false triggers, and then on the flip side I miss some footage that should have been captured. However, I'm mostly happy with the system quality for the value.
