I installed this to monitor my business and property. Installation and set up was a breeze. I am disappointed in the video quality because I am not able to zoom in to see a license plate because it's fuzzy. However, I recently noticed that the default settings for video defaulted to Medium and I have not increased that yet because I only installed 4 out of the 8 cameras (plan to install the other 4 this week) and I am concerned about how much of the 2T disk drive it will use once I get all 8 installed. I have all 4 cameras set to motion detection only, but 2 of them capture street traffic on a rather high traffic road. I hope to prevent it from recording the street once I get all 8 cameras up so I;m hoping I can increase video quality setting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a valuable security system. It comes with 8 cameras. Cable for each camera is roughly 50 ft. in length. Since it is a wired system, even before it arrived, we expected that setting up will involve more work than a wireless system. But the instruction is very clear with color-coded cables; the most important thing is that you need to decide where you want to put the DVR and how you are going to run the cables. I see that a lot of people running cables from attic, but we are lucky that we have a deck with unfinished roof, so we ran the cables under the roof and in the near future, we will finish the roof and nobody will see our cables. It took us 2 afternoons after work (about 2 hours each day) to get 5 cameras running. The quality of the pictures is unreal. I am super satisfied with this aspect. You can also download free app and get notifications on your cell phone. There are many options with this system; you can record continuously or just record when there is motion. You can have different combination of camera display at a time on the screen. So many different options to explore and take advantage of. Night visions are clear in black and white. It is so amazing how technology is so improved and shown in this system. The only thing I wish was different was that I wish cables come in different length. A couple of my cameras need only about 30 ft length, while if there were a couple cables that came in a length of 70 or 80 ft, that would be so much more convenient, especially for a set of this size. We are still installing the rest of the cameras and are looking to see if we can purchase longer cables for these, because they are going to have to go around the house to the garages in the back. Overall, this is the best security system you can have. Setting up takes some work, but it is expected with a wired system. And in compensation, you get an outstanding quality of records and pictures. I highly recommend this system.

Since I had previously bought a 4 camera wireless system for myself about 2 years a go, I recommended this system for our church. The 4K cameras have amazing resolution and already have captured some unwelcomed action in the church parking lot, including watching some wolves walk across in the middle of the night and identifying a delivery made when no one was present. Presently we only have 6 cameras installed and will get the other 2 installed later during warmer weather. We did have to purchase extensions wires for some of the cameras. My personal wireless system survived the cold for 2 winters (up to -30C) and are still working great. Looking forward to the security this system will provide our church.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This security system is really a nice option for great piece of mind and keeping an eye on places you cannot see on your property and in your home. After reading and looking at it, we opted for some outside assistance to be sure we got the most out of it. And the picture quality is great for such a small camera! We can watch our shoreline and boat, the front and rear doors, as well as a few other choice locations around the house and garage. We are very happy with the ease of use and quality of the product.

Was quick to setup. I replaced an old outdated system, so my wires have already been run. Just replaced the camera and the DVR. Within an hour was able to view cameras on my phone from anywhere. Video quality is great-- clear and crisp, day and night.

I purchased a Defender 4 camera wireless system a year ago to use in a home that I could not run cable throughout. The system was very easy to install, worked very well, wireless runs up to 80ft including several walls were not a problem. So I decided to purchase this HD wired system for another home install. This home had another surveillance BNC cabled system that was low definition and finally a few cameras failed. It was easy to install this system since the camera cables were already there. As usual the software set was just as easy. Now the pictures are significantly improved with the 4K cameras and HD. The mobile app is easy to install and use. Also I am able to view the two different sites on the same app. The footprint for the DVR is also smaller than the previous low definition unit so it saves some space. My only complaint is the offsite video is only available to the smart phones and not laptops. Defender needs to address this issue since access on a laptop or PC with larger screen is a definite bonus. I would buy another one if I needed it!

Unfortunately there of been a lot of break-ins in our neighborhood and that’s why we needed one. The defender comes with four cameras which is perfect for our house. The cameras are small enough to not be that noticeable. And are the perfect color to blend in with our house. Using the app we are able to access all of the cameras and keep an eye on our house when we are not home. I would highly recommend the defender Home security system to anyone that is looking for one.

Easy install....love the alerts you can get straight to your phone which comes with a warning text as soon as motion is detected by the cameras. Straightforward directions for set up with mobile phone use. The equipment is very durable and should last us for years to come. My husband likes the extra security since we have three precious teenage daughters

Picture quality is phenomenal and the DVR system is a breeze to use! Living out in the rural country with closet neighbor 2.5 acres away, we feel installing these was a no brainer. I’m amazed at how great these little cameras work. The only thing we had an issue with was figuring out where to places cameras. We have a large house 88 ft long and the cables wouldn’t reach where we wanted them. Overall the system is fantastic, very user friendly!! I would recommend these to anyone looking for a quality product that your typical homeowners could use. I’ll include pictures shortly. For some reason my computer won’t upload them currently.
