I have three of the eight cameras up. They have a very clear picture. The field of view is a little narrow, but what is gained in quality of the picture is worth it. The screws on the camera case for adjusting tilt are past cheep. I was dissapointed in this. the intructions seem to be a bit difficult to follow also. Overall I am happy the system and enjoying the scurity. Gaylin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Defender Wired 4k wired security system for just over two weeks. I got the system and it was very well packed. It was organized and contained a lot of parts! It was a little intimidating for me to at first. I wanted a hard wired system because I was hoping for consistant quality. I still have to tidy up the wiring. The directions seemed too technical so I followed them slowly, step by step. Set up was mostly smooth for my first time installing something like this. I looked up a few details on the internet to make sure I was setting the DVR up correctly. After I had the whole thing set up, I was impressed with the quality of the pictures and the wide angles. Even at night, I could see pretty well. I'm still tinkering with some of the settings but I like all the different views. The only thing that could make that better would be if you could pan around but really with so many cameras set up, it's not neccesary. It's a powerful system for my home. It would also be great for use at a small business. I am able to have every single dark corner, gate and door under surveillance. I'm learning the app and am so glad to have this feature without paying a monthy service fee.

Bought the 4K1T4B4 system refurbished and it seems to be working fine, though I've only installed it today. Nothing special. The DVR settings/menu control is a little slow and unresponsive. Manuals aren't as readily accessible. It runs relatively quiet compared to my old Defender DVR. I haven't opened the DVR up to check what hard drive is used, so I hope it doesn't fail prematurely. The cameras are made of plastic which makes me wonder their actual resistance to the elements despite the IP67 and -40°C ratings. Night performance is not as good as some of the more expensive products in the market but if there's sufficient ambient light, it's good enough for my need. I only wish the angle of view is a little larger, at least 90° instead of 79°. The BNC cables for the cameras aren't heavy duty enough to be used exposed outdoor, better get some heavier gauge cables if you plan of running the cables outdoor exposed. The HDMI and Ethernet cables are a nice touch. The mouse is nothing special and will likely break with heavy usage. My other major concern in addition to the quality of the weather-sealing on the cameras and the hard drive is the power supplies. I've had to get replacement power supplies for my old Defender security system a few years into service. Only time will tell how this system will stand. All in all, for the price, it's good thus far, 4 hours post-installation.

It comes with everything you need, and you don't have to pay for any monitoring, just download the free app. for it. The 4 cameras are light and adjustable, and small. It provides up to 4k resolution. 8MP for recording speed. It also provides infrared LED for night vision up to 100 feet. The security system also comes with the DVR and it's thin, so no bulk at all. You also have remote viewing from your phone. Weather resistant also. Picture quality is also great It took us about 3 hours to get everything going, that's including getting the free app installed too. We live on a rural area, so since we've been using this security system, we feel so much safer inside of our home, and also when we leave.

I had installed, this my second defender product and had poor night vision - HOWEVER - I contacted the support and they resolved the issue very quickly by helping me see what I needed to do to get better night vision- the problem was the placement and angles of the cameras - not resolved - I'm back to loving my 8 camera system

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i just got this on saturday, it looked so hard to set up, but we are in the process of finishing it all up, there is a lot of pieces to put together, the instructions are pretty easy to understand, although i need a usb card to activate the system, in the process of doing that now.

Bought these cameras a month ago because I was tired of dealing with problems with my Lorex cameras. Lorex has terrible customer service and questionable quality with their products. Anyway, setup with these cameras was easy. Had a couple of problems with the remote viewing on the app, but they were fixed with minimal effort. The video clarity from these cameras is tremendous. My Lorex wireless cameras are 2MP, and these cameras blow them out of the water. I needed to be able to read car license plates from a gate camera about 30 feet away, these cameras can handle that task easily. Quality cameras, great value security system.

Defender 4K (wired) was easy to install, had a little trouble with email notifications. Contacted online support Yvonne M was a great help had me fixed in a few minutes, was a setting in google blocking it. Picture quality is great and customer support is awesome.

I have been looking for a security system for awhile. When I read all the great reviews regarding this unit I made up my mind. I opened the box and it was just like everyone had said, everything was included and the installation was simple. I had fingers crossed that once the installation was complete the picture quality was as good as everyone said. It was everything I was hoping for and more. They have 100ft plus range with great quality of pictures. I would totally recommend this system to anyone looking for a new system. By the way I never write reviews for any product but this one was just that good.
