Customer reviews for OIF Big & Tall Mid-Back Swivel/Tilt Chair, Black forGreat chair, good price
I bought this chair about a month ago and had it shipped to my house. Got here the next day and didn't even pay for over-night shipping. The chair was somewhat easy to put together, didn't need a hand. I'm a bigger guy and I can sit in the chair comfortably and still have the arms attached. I like how it has the option to remove the arms without metal pieces poking your thighs. Overall, great chair and a decent price. It's very comfy and well-made. All of the other chairs I looked around at for bigger people are extremely expensive, so this find was perfect. I recommend it for any hefty person looking for a new computer chair if you sit at your desk many hours of the day.
love it!!
Been looking a whole year for a big comfy office chair like the one I have at work. Went back and forth looking at reviews and so glad I chose this one. Looks like a boss chair and I can sit comfortable with my legs cross crossed on chair. And I’m a thicker girl. Does get kinda hard on the booty after long 10hr days but that’s usually my time to log off.
Amazing Value, Size, Comfort
The chair is great. I wasn't looking to spend a lot and I had seen them go up to 700.00. This one is so comfortable. Set up was easy except for one wheel that refused to go on but it did once I sat on it. Easy setup. Did it by myself in about 20 minutes. I'm 370lbs and had no problems at all. I love it.
good chair
I'm over 400 lbs and this chair is very sturdy. Very heavy and durable. I've only been using it for a week, I'll update if anything goes south. I'm also 5'10" and at the highest setting is too tall for me!! It doesn't have a lot of cushion, so if u are looking for a plush chair .. this is not it.
Great Chair
We ordered 4 of these chairs for our office. As of the writing of this review, we have been using them for almost 8 months with no issues. I like that they are heavy duty. Made well/sturdy. Have plenty of room and are comfortable. Great for people who are tall or that weight over 200 lbs.
So far so good!
I just assembled the chair last night. So far, so good! I'm a big guy, 6' 6.5", 335 LB. In it's highest setting, my feet barely touch the ground (a good thing). The rating on the chair is 450 LB, the seat padding is pretty firm. The back does NOT tilt WRT the seat, so if you were looking for a recliner, keep looking. The whole seat does recline, but you have to pull the single lever OUT away from the seat to unlock the tilt. Guess that has confused some reviewers. I have killed several chairs over the years, so far it seems solid. I am using it on hardwood floors at home, the rollers do not seem to be hurting the wood. A note on assembly - yes, the directions are IKIA style, pretty short, all pictures. The parts are well packaged, I especially liked the fasteners packaging. The screws all had blue lock-tite on them, this is good. Pay attention to the ID of the screws in the pictures and on the parts card, it helps to use the right screw in the correct hole. When you are assembling it, position the cushion on another chair or a stool upside down. Position the part you are assembling on the cushion and install the fasteners FINGER TIGHT in ALL the holes required for that part, getting them started at least a couple of turns. Then, use the supplied hex wrench to evenly tighten all the fasteners, I recommend tightening each screw until it ALMOST touches, then use a pattern of tightening where you tighten each screw about one turn, then move to the screw opposite it, like you are supposed to tighten lug nuts on a car (for 5 bolts numbered like a clock it would be 1, 3, 2, 5, 4 and repeat). Tighten firmly, then move on to the next part. When you tighten the screws attaching the tilt/swivel base to the seat bottom, look and make sure you can put the seat back screws THRU that plate and into the seat bottom. That was the only assembly issue I found, one hole in the seat bottom was right at the edge of the tilt/swivel base hole, I had to push the swivel base to one side to get clearance, making starting the screw that holds the back on hard. All the assembly went well until you get to putting the seat back on the seat (last assembly). With the seat face down on the support, tilt the back and put in the 2 screws nearest the center of the chair, Then put the back against a solid vertical wall, push the seat cushion down and toward the back with your knee, pivoting the seat around the first 2 screws you started, and start the other two screws. Tighten the last 2 until they are touching the seat bracket, then use them to pull the back into position (the bracket flush to the seat). After the outer screws are snug, snug the 2 closest to the center and tighten all 4. That was the toughest part of the assembly. Good luck, if I have any problems later I will resubmit my review.
Most horrible, awful assembly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything was going fine with the assembly of this chair until I got to the final two screws. The 8 screws for the arm rests went in fine. The 4 screws for the chair lift went in fine. When adding the back rest encountered problems which near sent me over the edge. The two long screws would seat and then go no further. Tried over and over and over and finally got one to go in, then the other would not. Tried soap, liquid wrench, no go. So removed other bolts on this assembly to start over. Finally got the left screw in and then the right one which had been in before would not go in. This is probably the 12th desk chair I've purchased over the years as we have two working desks, so I don't think I'm the problem. After 2 hours of frustration I just gave up. The screw never did go in so I guess I'm just not leaning on the backrest.
Comfortable chair and looks good!
Comfortable, however, if you are 6"4" or taller it may not be deep enough for sitting long periods. More support closer to the bend of the knee area would be helpful. Still, the chair meets my expectations and I recommend it to those having difficulty in finding an office chair for big & tall folks.
Big and Tall Mid-Back Swivel/Tilt Chair
My back is feeling much better as every day passes but my left arm still goes numb occasionally. Thank you for asking. After further research of reviews on other websites, I've come to the conclusion that there are at least 3 styles of this chair using the same model number. It seems to be the luck of the draw as to which one you'll receive. If you're fortunate enough to receive the "Goldilocks" style, you should thank the man above (or person of your religion). If you receive the "Leans too far forward" style, you should be able to find an engineer that can place washers in strategic locations to bring the chair backwards to an upright position. If you have my luck, you'll receive the "Leans too far back (while in the upright position)" style, where I (as an engineer) could find no combination of washers, or longer bolts, to bring the back of the chair forwards to an upright position. This being because there is no gap between the seat and the back of the chair. When my lower back hits the back of the chair, my upper back is at least 2 inches away from the back of the chair. I was being bent into an "S" shape. I suppose pillows would correct the situation but one reason that I was looking for a new chair was to avoid the constant need to reposition pillows each and every time I sat down. Oh yes, you want to hear specifics about the chair. At 5 feet 10 inches, my feet were barely able to sit flat on the floor at the lowest level but even then there was some discomfort on the back of my legs, just above my knees, where they dug into the seat. I can't imagine anyone shorter than this finding the chair comfortable. At 215 pounds, I was barely able to make a dent in the seat (which is my way of saying that the seat is very hard) but the seat may soften over time. The fabric is very abrasive to bare skin. The chair is very sturdy and should be able to hold the advertised weight limit. Make sure your local Wally World is near enough to avoid return postage, if any. Good luck!
As a big man I highly recommend this chair.
I'm a big guy 6'6 and 425lbs and this chair is exactly what I have been looking for. It feels very sturdy and has plenty of room. Assembly was relatively easy but you will probably need someone else's assistance in getting the back of the chair attached to the bottom. My chair didn't have assembly instructions but it had a number to call if you had any issues. Their customer service was extremely helpful and fast in emailing me the instructions. I would highly recommend this chair to anyone who needs a bigger office chair.
