I tried the lightweight unscented first and it still had a slight kitty litter odor that bothered me in addition to tracking everywhere. This stuff is truly unscented, the litter smells like absolutely nothing which is great. It controls odors really well, I keep my kitty's litter box in the laundry room and you can't tell it's in there. This litter still tracks, but not as badly as the lightweight litter did. I got the 42-lb bag, which is convenient but not for people with bad backs, lol.

The scented litter leaves a smell on their fur and it is irritating to our noses and we believe the cats dislike it as well. Our cats have such great noses, we would hate for them to have to walk around and constantly smell the "fresh scent" or taste it when they clean themselves.

It clumps really well too. Scooping is easy and doesn't leave little bits of soiled litter so it lasts longer. I did NOT receieve a free product for this review. For some reason, unscented litter is becoming harder to find even though it is safer for cats. Scented litter is full of chemicals that can harm a cat's health. And, cats don't like those odors. I am glad that Fresh Step still offers more than one unscented clumping litter.

Regular Fresh Step User. Saw the "Low Dust" marking on the package and was anxious to try it out. I'm not complaining about the normal formula, but when pouring and sifting it looks like it's steaming as the dust cloud wafts out of the litter box and slowly coats everything sitting nearby. It's not excessive, just annoying. But then I debate how frequently to clean the litter box versus cat health versus odor versus dust cloud. Surprisingly, the "low dust" version was SIGNIFICANTLY less powdery during pouring and sifting. It's difficult to notice any fogging when moving the litter. This is a big improvement to an already great product. Separately, the Ultra Unscented was fragrance free which I prefer. To me the fragrances in litter are frustrating because I can't control their intensity so I would rather have none at all, and Ultra Unscented was a great solution.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fresh Step always ensures my house smells clean and cat-free. My kitties sneeze unless I get the unscented type. Only complaint is that the unscented products are difficult to find, as (for some reason) they're only stocked in some stores in smaller quantities. Oh, and I wish the packaging was more environmentally friendly; the plastic (for 42 lb bags) is not great.

I've been buying Fresh Step litter for years, and have been happy with most of the types I've purchased. I've tried most of the "special" litters - some are good, some (especially the scented ones) make me dizzy. So I returned to my "standby" - Fresh Step Simply Unscented. And I (and my two four legged girls) are all extremely happy. This litter does a great job, and usually I can get almost two weeks between litter box changes. So no muss, no fuss - Keep it simple and enjoy life. Your furry friends will thank you. Well, maybe they won't since they're cats. But they should!

The litter that I chose did not have a scent, which I appreciate since my cat has allergies. It clumped nicely, and allowed me to quickly scoop the soiled parts away. Highly recommend!

I was having problems with other cat litter brands over odor and manly low tracking. I had cat litter everywhere (even though the product said "low tracking"), so I started looking and decided to try Fresh Step and I'm so glad I did, so far it's the Best. Hardly any tracking and very good at controlling the odors. There is only one thing that could make it better, and that's bigger quanities, like a 40lbs would be Great. But very Happy with product.
