Fantastic, but Unreliable

I love the sound this puts out. When Atmos is engaged, it’s completely immersive and provides the experience you hope for. The build quality and performance are excellent for the price. The downside, however, and it’s a big one… is how temperamental this thing can be. It takes some time to adjust settings for your preferences, and even if you don’t touch them, they’ll often change on their own. It will turn on and off randomly at times, and there is some minor feedback in the surround speakers. Having to reconfigure things frequently is frustrating, and I’m too scared to experiment with settings, knowing how difficult it may be to return to how I previously had them. The Vizio app is useful, but only if you can connect it to your device, which will take retrying until you get in or give up. This is a known issue and I don’t understand why Vizio hasn't resolved it. The bottom line is, it’s excellent, when it works properly, but the lack of reliability will overshadow the experience for most consumers.

Wonderful Immersive Sound!

I've bought this just over a month ago and love it! The sound is great and when watching a movie with Dolby Atmos it's just so immersive and wonderful! Very happy with my purchase but only reason it's not 5 stars for me is the rear speakers are not wireless.

All is good except volume increment issue.

I am happy I purchased this sound bar for the great sound but Vizio has not corrected the volume increment issue. I have spoken to customer service several times and they have informed me that changing the volume increments is an issue that affects the newer models. I purchased a Vizio sound bar model SB3851-com 6 years ago and it performed outstanding using the same volume increments as my tv but I wanted to upgrade. I would recommend this product to a friend but cannot because the 2-increment volume causes the volume to be too loud or mute.

Truly Exceptional Sound!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall Impressions: If you’re looking for a top of the line sound bar with cutting edge technology, the Vizio Elevate has you covered. With incredible sound quality, so many great features, and ease of use, there’s no reason to choose anything else! Very highly recommended. Read on for more detailed information on my experience, and technical aspects of the Elevate sound bar. Sound: The sound that comes from the Vizio Elevate is incredible with every type of content I’ve played, whether it’s Dolby Atmos, 5.1, or stereo. Dolby Atmos really shines with this soundbar, and you’ll agree when you can literally hear sound coming from everywhere, including above! It really is an incredible experience. The Elevate takes gaming to a whole new level, too! I can’t say enough about the exceptional sound quality this bar puts out. There are EQ presets to adjust the sound to your liking, and further customization is possible via the included remote or SmartCast app. I have owned many sound bars, and this one outshines them all. Incredible! Style/Build: The Elevate comes with a sound bar, wireless sub, and 2 wired surround speakers that connect to the subwoofer. The Elevate speakers are stylish and well built. Construction looks and feels durable and solid. It looks great sitting in front of my Vizio P75 (see photo)! Inputs & Connections: The Vizio Elevate features three HDMI connections: two inputs and one output. The HDMI output also shares the ARC port and supports the cutting edge feature eARC. The two HDMI inputs allow you to use the sound bar as a hub for other devices, which frees up HDMI ports on your television. This is a huge plus! The HDMI inputs can passthrough video signals up to 4k @ 60 Hz including 10-bit and 4:4:4, and are also capable of HDR10 passthrough. Not many sound bars on the market are capable of doing this. An optical audio input is added if you prefer to use that. There are also two 3.5mm auxiliary inputs, and a USB port for audio files. Wireless Playback: The Vizio Elevate has several wireless playback options. You can use a phone or tablet to stream via bluetooth, wireless, or chromecast. Controls: The Elevate comes with a remote control that features a small display screen and easy to use interface. You can also control the sound bar through the Vizio SmartCast app, which allows you to change the settings, check for updates, view system information, or run speaker tests. When connected to a television or display the sound bar can be seamlessly integrated into the media system. In this case, the television controls the sound bar without having to use separate remotes. This is my preferred setup, and I don’t need to use the included remote at all. Setup: I was able to set up the Elevate sound bar quickly and without any issues. The sub connects to the sound bar wirelessly, and the satellite speakers are wired to the subwoofer. There is enough wire that you shouldn’t have any issues setting up the satellite speakers wherever you prefer. I had the Elevate connected and up and running in about 10 minutes.

Great Sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this as a replacement for a Bose system I had and didn’t feel like the sound was that great with the Bose system so I took a look at the Vizio and was truly happy I got the sound and base all in one package.

Needs work.....

This sound bar is very finicky. You could be listening to a program and the sound will either play really low or really high while drowning out the dialouge /vocals. No matter the many combinations of adjustments you must perform manually, I could never find the right combination. I even tried the volume leveling feature and its basically useless. The soundstage is lacking. It doesn't envelope you in sound as I has hope. You either hear sound up front or surround sound in back. Nothing in the midrange. Maybe I expected more from a Atmos capable system. Hopefully future firmware updates will become available to address these issues.

Difficult setup with new Sony TV

I assume I will eventually conquer the setup process on this soundbar. I decided to take a dinner break to quell my frustration. I have a nearly new Sony TV. Setup looks like cake until the soundbar seems to alter the sound settings on the TV uncommanded to the point where I currently have no sound. This bar replaces smaller Sony that was, in fact, easy to setup. Have been working with fairly highend audio equipment for decades. The more the manufacturers rely on QR code scans to provide highly idealized smooth setup demos, the worse things get. I imagine I will not be able to talk to a well informed actual human if it comes to that. Then it will be chat with someone who feeds me scripts like you get everywhere. No, I am not recommending this product to anyone else.

Hello Popporez, can you give us some additional details about the issue you are experiencing? What audio settings are seeming to adjust themselves? Are these audio settings on the TV or on the sound bar? Do the settings change based on the input or app being viewed? This is not typical so I would like to learn more so we can assist with troubleshooting. Please visit support.VIZIO.com and click on ‘Contact Us’. We’ve got agents ready to chat, text message, or speak with you on the phone.

It delivers great sound at a very good price point

Have been enjoying good sorrkind sound and dialogue voice profiling with the elevate, although some streamed channels sound seem to be more out of sync with my new LG HDR 4K Oled TV display images. I tried adjusting the dialogue settings, but still am a bit off when people speak in the programs.

Great surround sound but low audio on dialogue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The surround sound is great, but the dialogue audio is low that volume needs to increase. But when the surround sound section in the movie comes in too loud because of the increase volume on the dialogue.

Very impressive handles bass really well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with this one, the Vizio 5.1.4 Elevate. I had a M series Elevate, it was awesome l, but could not handle bass well. I put on the Dolby Vision/Atmos version of “Apocalypse Now, Redux”, and I thought the helicopters were right over me!. Gonna try, “Mad Max Fury Road” next. I made my back room into a female cave, 75 inch Qled and the Vizio Elevate.I’ve found that the higher priced electronics sometimes, aren’t as good. Very happy.
