Only 2 fillets were cooked & they tasted horrible… like they were marinated in ammonia or other chemicals… I certainly hope these weren’t farmed in china… both my pregnant daughter & I couldn’t eat more than 1 small piece… I sure hope it didn’t harm us internally… I will be returning ASAP

Due to an ammonia like smell, I decided not to eat, and returned for a refund. It's my second time experiencing that, at least 6 months apart from the first time. If you're wondering if you should buy Sam's Club frozen tilapia fillets, do yourself a favor and make a hard pass on doing so.

I purchase two packs of the tilapia. And both packages either smelled of ammonia before cooking and smelled of ammonia after cooking. Both packages of fish will purchase in August 2024, and both were bad! I have always enjoyed the fish that I purchased from Sam's club but this purchase have totally changed that. I will no longer be buying frozen fish from Sam's club anymore!

Purchased a package a month ago and kept it cold until I got home. Then I vacuum packed 2 or 3 fillets to a package and froze what I wasn't going to eat that night. I usually enjoy tilapia for its mild flavor. These fillets however stunk and tasted to high heaven of some noxious chemical. I could not eat a second bite. Not sure what got into the package, but it definitely ruined my appetite. Fortunately, I did not get sick. A month later (last night) I tried again and was equally repulsed at the strong chemical taste. I don't think I'll waste my money again!

I been buying this fish since Sam's replaced the other name brand and had no real issues with it. It is to be noted I typically purchase 2-3 bags at a time, but these last few bags I purchased were not right, the texture was not right, which I do not know if it has something to do with processing or what but NOT! I typically fry or blackened and I tell you the texture of the fish was just awful, it just did not cook correctly. The texture of the tilapia is usually firm and somewhat flakey, this fish was like mushy and jell like is the best way i can describe. No matter how long I cooked it the textured of the fish was just off. I can't talk about the taste to much because of limitations, but just wondering if anyone else that is familiar with the fish encountered the same problem. I took what I purchased back and plan to look for a replacement.

I have bought several packages thinking I just got a bad batch. NO SUCH THING!!! These taste really fishy and ODD plus they are mushy, not firm. With the Treasures of the Sea brand you used to carry, I would occasionally get a bad batch, but most of the time it was absolutely delicious. YOU NEED TO BRING IT BACK AND GET RID OF DAILY CHEF!!!!!!

This tilipia was terrible! Extremely fishy tasting and smelling. I thought it was impossible to mess up tilipia-the old brand Sam's used to carry did not taste like this. Smelled up the entire house and my family tried to eat it-covered with ketchup and salsa, but no go. It all went in the trash. Mr. Seafood manager, please bring back the old brand of affordable and mild tilipia.

Very mild flavor and easy to prep fish. One of our favorites.
