Just wish it had a CD rom...but it's fast & works great for what I'll be using it for. Probably will have to get a mouse, though.

I have been involved in two upscale laptop purchases in the past few months. They are different brands but both have backlit keyboards with silver keys that are near impossible to read the keys in daylight with backlighting on or off. Everything else is great but it can make you hate the laptop.

This laptop is a reasonable laptop for the price BUT it has some flaws. This laptop case and the keyboard are both chrome color when the keyboard is backlit or if the sun is shining correctly the keyboard gets washed out and hard to see. If you are a touch typist it is not a terrible deal just kind of disconcerting. This laptop has a serious lack of available ports not even a ethernet port. The USB-C port is NOT a thunderbolt/PD port which makes adding any type of docking station difficult. HP does not make a docking station that is compatible with this laptop. I did find a compatible docking station online at Walmart, a Wavlink USB 3.0 Universal Laptop Docking Station for Windows and MAC OS, Dual Video Dual Video Display HDMI/DVI/VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB 3.0 Ports--PD Function Not Supported docking station. This docking station comes with adapters to convert the DVI port to either HDMI or VGA. I was going to return the laptop and get something that I could set up a docking station with as I use this mainly for work but since I found this docking station I plan on keeping it as it works fine for what I need.

It serves the purpose. Unfortunately i didnt pay attention to the amount of storage available before purchasing and determined it has half of my old laptop and no touchscreen. Im also not happy with the backlit keyboard. Rather than illiminating the leyyers, it washes them out.

This laptop is included in an ongong class-action lawsuit against HP due to shoddy design of the hinges. HP used very cheap plastic(!) in construction. Under normal daily use, the chassis began cracking after less than 6 months. It was replaced, with the same result several months later. HP is not standing behind their products and this will be the last HP laptop I ever buy.

Needed more working memory and got it with this HP which happened to be on sale.
