I like the product, but both the old and new packaging sucks. So like other reviewers, I gave one star to get the attention of Vital Proteins.The old package had a plastic strip around the lid. But it was so difficult to pull up the end of the strip to start to pull it off. I had to get a knife or corkscrew to poke up the end and once I finally did, I would carefully pull the strip around the lid. But 80% of the time the strip would crack and break first before it came off the lid. So then I had to use a knife or corkscrew again to pry up the end of the remaining plastic strip to finally pull it off. Then it still wasn't easy to get the lid off because after unscrewing it, it would catch onto the edge of the seal covering the canister. I would have to pull and tug to finally get it off. I can't imagine any elderly person or someone with dexterity issues trying to open it. Now to the new canister. I thought they finally got rid of the horrible packaging so it was easier to open. NOT. The reason why the lid of this package is impossible to "pinch and pull" up is because you didn't instruct the consumer to run a knife along the perforated edge of the lid. Because unless you do that, there is NO way you can just pinch and pull the lid up. Even in your video, you can tell that was clearly done to the edge of the lid first so it could easily pull up the lid. I would highly recommend you add those instructions to your lid because pinch and pull won't work. I like your product but your packaging is the absolute worst and this isn't rocket science.

The new packaging is awful! For people with arthritis in their hands or that have other physical limitations, this container is NOT user friendly. I would think that half to the majority of customers using this product are women 45+ years old who are looking for joint support. This packing is counterintuitive! I really like the product itself but if I have to wait for someone to open it for me, I will no longer buy it. Please reconsider! Plastic recycles.

I love the product itself but the packing is the worst! If you don't have a firm grip and strong hands you're not getting it open. I've had to wait days for someone to come open it for me. Another time I hacked into it myself with scissors and that was a disaster. I'll not buy again for this reason.

I have been using this product for years. The decision to remove the scoop is annoying. I will be searching for a new collagen peptide product unless the scoop is brought back. I use(d) the product on the road and don't want to waste water and spill the product trying to use a normal spoon. It also seems so minor in comparison with the package size. If it goes in a landfill the scoop will be inside anyway. I don't see the environmental impact. I would rate the product itself a 5/5 but the decision to remove the scoop a 1/5.

I wanted to write a review unlike the rest I'm seeing on here, actually thanking vital proteins for their new cardboard packaging. The loud voices sounding off in the reviews appear to be dramatic people that are most likely few and far between. A LOT of people own extra tablespoons, especially if they save the scoops from other products. And worth noting - a normal spoon is about a table spoon as well. I think a plastic spoon is not that hard to come by, come on people ;) As far as their cardboard packaging, I personally found it very easy to open. Although, I will admit that I do not have any physical limitations. I'm not sure what other people are doing with their tube besides setting it on a counter that would cause it to become all smashed up or wrinkled. I thank you, vital proteins, for trying to keep our planet safer and healthier by switching to a type of packaging that is less harmful to the environment. It's not just us living here, but many other species as well :) - a happy first time customer!

Good product, and I agree the package is not easy but once I figured it out it works perfectly fine! So happy to do away with plastic! I like to mix it with my smoothie, but recently I tried stirring it into my cold cup of almond milk and noticed it gelled. That's kinda weird. Still like this product!

Hi, I love the product, which is excellent, however since the new packaging has been introduced I am wondering how to store it properly. I live in the tropics and humidity is very high. May i transfer the collagen powder into a tupperware and keep it in the fridge? I fear that in the paper packaging it will get mouldy very soon.

Hate the new cardboard packaging. Have been using this collagen for several years and love it, and I appreciate the company's efforts to use less plastic, but I've been fighting with this new paper container for 15 minutes now and can't even get it open. "Pinch rim and pull up." Right. More like hack at it with a pair of kitchen shears. Which I did. Which mangled the lid and rendered it useless. So unless you have strong, arthritis-free hands, good luck. Good thing I still have the plastic screw-top jar from the previous collagen order to refill.

Vital proteins profits for 2023 were 1 million. As of june 2025 profits were at 75million. Earlier this year vital proteins stopped including a scoop in packaging which was no big issue for me as I have been using your product for years and have several scoops. Now you have changed packaging from plastic to recyclable product which is great but you reduced the amount of product in the package by 1/4 and yet the price remained the same with 1/4 less in the container! Shame on you! Will be switching to another brand and making others aware although others have already noticed and not happy either! Greed!

Recently returned to Vital Protein after trying others. Dislike the "new" cardboard container, hard to open with arthritic hands. I do not remember the dosage being 4 tbsp. I think the last I bought had a scoop & it was definitely not 4 tbsp. Will wait to see results.
