The appearance of the product was really nice--now if something could be done about the complications of trying to actually use the thing for what it was made for--then I would probably give it more stars. Called in to customer service/tech support and was sent to the website. Finally got hold of a person to ask a question and she was very helpful--until I turned the radios off--then it started doing the same thing over again. It was stuck with one of the radios stuck in the VOX mode and couldn't get it turned off again. I wouldn't buy this again if it only cost a penny.

After deciding that GMRS was the way we wanted to go for now for overlanding group communications, we chose to get some good handhelds first. These have good reviews. We haven't used them on a trip yet, but were really hoping for more than 1 mile clear communication in a standard suburban area. I'm sure they'll be better without so many building obstructions (homes) between radios. Ultimately, we'll probably buy mobile units, but these will fit our needs for now.

I bought and use these radios primarily for off-roading. I used them this past weekend and they worked great! I and the other Jeep used the two handhelds all day without needing a charge and even when I got home to charge them they still had plenty of battery left. They are clear to understand and quick to setup and get working.

Great radios so far, good clarity. It would be nice if the instructions were as clear as the sound. Someone with a lot of GMRS radio experience would probably understand them better, but some radio lingo knowledge seems to be presumed when reading the microscopic print. But all-around great little radios, once I learn how to use all the features.

A good complete package except the box says "Instruction manual included". In fact there is no manual but you can download one on the Midland website. You probably will be heading over there right after opening the box and charging the 2 radios up as they are quite complicated at first. The radios look and feel durable and are rated as waterproof. The set comes complete with rechargable batteries, charging station, 110v and 12v chargers and 2 headsets for hands free use. Once you figgure out how to set the radios to VOX then using either the built in mike or the supplied headset then hands free talking should be easy. We wanted this feature for backing up our RV and the VOX works well but the supplied headsets are about useless as the mike needs to be right in front of your mouth and they just won't stay there as the ear piece is too floppy. You can hold the mike by your mouth but then you can't steer the Rv or give hand signals to the driver.

Needed 2 more of these to have enough for our camp group to maintain good contact with each other and base camp. Sam's price was the lowest I found. The radios are rated among the best on the market with more features than most people need, My recommendation is to replace the 700 Mah battery pack with good quality Eneloop 2100 MaH rechargeable NiMH batteries for almost triple the capacity of the standard battery pack. I keep the standard battery pack as an emergency spare.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m new to two-way radios however my first two-way radio that I bought for the family was FRS radios I upgraded to GMRS since GRS has better range sound and more functionalities even though it needs licensing overall, this is a great radio and very satisfied with it I have also ordered Midland brand to wear radios FRS system since the quality and the sound of this radios are awesome.

Just purchased these radios to test them for use in our church security team, so far they are excellent radios. We only utilize them within a range of about 150 yards between buildings, but they are crystal clear in that range even with concrete walls in between us. Only had them for a month so far we will see how durability is?

arrived dead. which is not uncommon until i found charges only last 10-15 minutes 🤔 definitely seems like they are super old battery packs. only able to use with AA batteries which completely defeats the purpose of buying a rechargeable radio......

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Midland GXT1000VP4 50 channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio works fine over short distances. I have not had any luck with 36-mile range. The range is a few miles under good conditions, but that is all I need. The good things about the pair of radios is that you have 50 channels and encoding to select the radios that will receive the signal. You can add more radios and make this a good radio system with parents on one channel and others on other channels. It is very useful. The radio also has 3 power levels to select from to conserve the included rechargeable battery backs. A charger that operates on a 120 VAC wall wart or a 12 VDC using a cigarette lighter receptacle. The charger will charge both radios at the same time. The battery packs are also designed to use non-rechargeable batteries if desired. Accessories include belt clips, a headset/mics and for each radio. The Midland GTX1000VP4 FMS/GMRS Two-Way Radio is an excellent to use or as a present for anyone needing one. One additional feature I should mention is the CALL button which causes the radio you are calling to Ring alerting the radio called to respond to the caller.
