Nice watch, great features

I am enjoying this watch. Has many nice features, love to have my steps. I do wonder if it has a feature to help me find my phone.

Excellent question - the Vivoactive 5 does have a "Find My Phone" feature! You can use it by following the steps linked here: http://ms.spr.ly/6429s0z3U Here's some additional information about how the audio alert will play, and how the feature differs between Android phones and iPhones: http://ms.spr.ly/6420s0z3q

Good for the price

I really like a lot about the watch, although I've had it for two months now and want to upgrade. Most of the features work pretty well, however when I work out and sweat the heart rate recorder doesn't work at all which is frustrating. As well as it disconnects from my phone at least 3 times a week and I have to reconnect which is irritating. Overall I'd rate the watch 3/5 stars, definitely a beginner watch. Great if you just want to record steps but wouldn't get it for working out.

love this watch but the screen locks up frequently

I absolutely love this watch, I would give it 5 stars but the screen locks up frequently. I had one prior and it was doing it so we sent it back and I got a new one on the 9th. It locked up 3x in the first 24 hrs. It has done it 3 more times since. Once for well over an hour. The watch still counts steps while it's locked up but vibrates a lot so I have no clue what it is doing. It once sent out the emergency alert while locked up and I couldn't shut it off. Other than this I love the watch. I wish it had a hike function. I love the stats it gives me after a run and how it breaks them down. I love the night time mode.

Best Fitness Watch Ever!

Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting one, stop waiting and just do it. I will preface by saying that I’m an Apple user and it pairs with my phone just fine. Anyways, my family could not stop raving about how great their Garmin was and how I needed to get one, especially because I’ve been training for a half marathon and blah blah blah. So… I finally did it, and I wish I’d done it sooner! This thing tracks everything - steps, body battery, heart rate, sleep score - EVERY.THING. It comes with a Garmin Coach that has been giving me guided workouts. Right now mine is for running. You just go through and pick what you want to train for and they give you several coaches to choose from. Did I mention it was FREE? And I can’t believe how long the battery lasts! I use the features on this watch DAILY, and I charge it once a week. Most times not even to 100% because I don’t want to miss out on my step count. (LOL) Anyways, just get one. I don’t miss my Apple Watch at all.

Great battery life

I have had my watch for about 2 weeks. So far I love it. I like how it gives a great breakdown of my sleep pattern. It is pretty easy to use. There are other little things like asking me in the morning if I am ready to be up (awake) then assist me sleeping, I also like o. The screen before I actually get up it shows me what the weather is doing, like snowing, raining, sunshine…it has been fun so far!

Many Valuable Features to Enhance Your Life!

Everything from the many different intense activities I can elect to do (inside or outside) that the Garmin watch then tracks my performance on by looking at such things as heart rate or say, "stroke rate" for rowing with an indoor rowing machine to being able to be alerted to important messages from loved ones who text me and to whom I can respond with short messages when I cannot take the time to respond from my smartphone are all valuable features that I have come to depend on with my Garmin Vivoactive(R) 5. I just love it! ❤️

Great features, Top Tier!

I bought this almost a month ago, and it has everything I want in a fitness watch! I found out about Garmin watches from my sister and her husband - I knew about Garmin GPS but not their watches. As we spoke about multiple brands, they showed me the app and how detailed Garmin is. I ended up purchasing a different brand, was very disappointed, and quickly returned it. I eventually found the Vivoactive 5 after more research and deciding on the features that mattered most to me. The birthday wish was a sweet surprise, love the morning report, sleep score, ability to see notifications (am okay with not being able to reply to texts/calls as I don't want my watch to be an extension of my phone). Took a nap today and woke up to see automatic nap stats (solid sensors - didn't have to alert my watch). Love the vast amount of activities to choose from - The VA5 has all the workout types that I consistently do (jumping rope, yoga, pilates, treadmill, strength, other cardio, strength, walk, stair stepper). Oh and the menstrual cycle tracker! That was top five on my must have list. I could really go on and on. By far one of my best investments. Thank you Garmin!

It's complicated

I bought this a few months after I had open heart surgery, so I can monitor my heart rate. Doctors said needs to stay below 130. Many of the features don't apply to me. I wish there was an app for people who've had heart surgery, that encourages them to lower their heart rate. It's not intuitive for me. I found help by looking up on YouTube how to change and adjust items on it.

learning to love

I was given this watch as a gift. I enjoy the longer battery life! Being a lightweight watch is a plus. There are still many features I have not figured out because they take three or four steps to open...this is "hard" to learn. When a message comes in to my phone and pops up on the watch, it is there for 1/2 a second and then gone...again a few steps to open it up and a bit complicated. Not sure I would recommend this watch, but I am not throwing it out just yet.

Perfect for the non-jackrabbit

From 2015 to Feb 2024 I was content to use my vivofit ONE + 2015 cardioband for everything: cycling (HR), rucking for colorado training (HR) and measuring hikes in colorado (steps+HR). Now that I've had a chance to incorporate the Vactive5 into my routine I'm hooked and have found the "body battery" to be very good to allow me to judge when it's time to dial back a bit on intensity. I'm still doing the same workouts, however with the GPS function on Vactive5 I now have data on the rucking (stair climbing with a 55#, i.e., 1/3 bodyweight) pack) workouts and can put everything into Intervals.icu.
