Vivoavtive 5

I bought the Vivoactive 5 about a month ago because my Vivoactive 3 died. The reason I purchased this model was for the stair counter. I spent many hours looking for the activity on the watch and googled it several times. Finally found on a Garmin owner forum that it is no longer on the watch and Garmin did not remove it from the list on the website. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Other than the stair counter, I really like the new watch.

Accurate but

I bought this mainly due to some health issues that I’ve been having and needed to be able to check my heart rate. I’ve had the opportunity to compare the heart rate versus monitor and it is very accurate, no complaints at all with this aspect. But to track these I have everything running in the background and can get barely two days out of the battery. Besides the issue for me it does everything it should and the price point was very reasonable.

Battery drains

I received this as a gift. I take it off the charger in the Am, and by the end of day it’s at 20% battery. Put it on low battery mode, but then don’t get notifications. My daughter likes to check her sleep on hers but I don’t feel like I can sleep in it or I don’t have battery for the next day.

Exactly What I Expected

I love the features on this Garmin watch! It does exactly what I was expecting—accurate tracking, intuitive interface, and all the functionality I need right on my wrist. Whether it's for fitness, navigation, or everyday use, it performs reliably and lives up to its reputation. Very satisfied with my purchase!

Nice, comfortable watch

I've been wearing this watch for about a month. I like the features, though I've turned off the little "nag" features. I wanted to keep an eye on my workouts and this satisfied that requirement. I also like the ability to see notifications from my phone, without the need to use the watch to respond.

Not meant for an advanced runner

I loved my vivoactive 4s, so I bought this thinking it would be the same. The screen was so insanely sensitive, I went on a few long runs with it and the screen would constantly shift with just a drop of sweat on it. I was going insane, I’d pause my run at a stoplight and the watch would save without me touching the screen. I live in Florida, so the humidity might have to do with it, but it would never stay on the running data screen as I would run. I’d look down and my watch would be on the music screen or something else instead of just showing my pace. I returned it after giving it three weeks. I tried reducing the sensitivity and other controls in the settings, and it still disappointed. It’s a cute watch, just I would not recommend for serious training.

Very difficult to navigate numerous options

Not really happy with this watch. A and B keys are erratic in their responses. Lack of a manual with diagrams biggest downer. Web site gives insufficient instructions. Way too many options and each option often has further options. Can't get the activities to perform the way I want. sometimes I spend 10 minutes just trying to get back to the main screen

Vivoactive 5

I bough this about a month ago & I love it. Very easy to start, does just what I want plus a little more. As a first owner of a smart watch, I wanted something easy to explore and understand and this watch does this. Also, I wanted to receive notices, emails, etc, but did not want the watch to talk to me, notify me-yes, but don’t talk, text- yes, limited responses-ok. I have a phone to use for voice. Also, it’s round and not too large and is comfortable on my wrist, like a watch should be—-in my mind. Very easy to wear and understand. .

I wish the blue tooth connection was longer

I really like the Garmin Vivoactive 5. I switched from the apple watch because I prefer a round face. It does everything that I wanted in a smartwatch. I can't respond to a text or answer a call, but those things are not a deal breaker for me. I only wish the blue tooth connection reached farther. It says 10 meters....it is more like 10 feet. That is somewhat annoying. The garmin is significantly cheaper than the apple watch, too.

A loss of connection is usually due to walking away from your phone and beyond Bluetooth range which is approximately 30 feet (10 meters). The effective range is reduced when the signal has to pass through certain objects. Materials like glass, wood, metal, concrete or water can alter the signal strength of a Bluetooth connection. Interference from other wireless signals such as other Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi, or devices running on the 2.4GHz frequency can also affect range. Your watch should automatically establish a connection when you're back near your phone and within Bluetooth range. If you have Connected Alerts enabled, you can disable them by holding the bottom-right button and selecting Settings > System > Connectivity > Phone > Connected Alerts. (KS)

Confusing

I had a Fitbit for years and absolutely loved it it was easy to set on the items I wanted to track it was very easy to read the watch and or the corresponding info from my phone. I do not know how to work this Garmin. I am not a tech person… What should I have to be to know how to work my smart watch???? I wish there was a human I could contact to teach me if this watch can do the things I require it to do. The simplest thing like I don't even know how to set it to track my walks, or my swims… There is no timer... I do not believe my sleep data is accurate. I wake up multiple times every single night yet this tracks that I have zero awake times. Not happy with this product. Plus it seems it needs to be charged way too often.
