Kids love it
For the money, you can’t beat this swing set. I’ve looked at tons of sets and nothing else compares. The club house is big enough for me to fit in with both kids. Crows nest is a nice bonus. As long as you maintain this set with the proper stain and sanding when needed it will last for sure. We ordered this with installation and it took two days to build. Kids absolutely love it. We we’re going to go with a high end company that specializes in swing sets and happy we didn’t. It would of been half the size for the same amount of money.
Very well Built!!!!
It took us 15 hrs to get put together. We spent 4 of those hrs organizing the pieces. That is very important to take the time and lay the pieces out I suggest getting all the letters together then in order from a-z. Also organize your screws bolt, etc.. So that you can see the name really good. That was what took so long for us was lookin for the right pieces. Also pay very close attention to the directions! They are very vague, and hard to follow at times. Do not skip a step and I would highlight after each step you do in the book as well. Overall it is very well built and I feel safe letting my kids play on it. My 3 yr old is in love!
Kids love it!
Excellent! My husband and I worked on this on weekends and nights. It came in four large, heavy boxes and I sorted everything according to each step. All wood and hardware was there-nothing was missing. Instructions were sometimes tricky to read and we had to disassemble a few times. But the finished product was amazing for the price! Our only complaint is the bolts and nuts just don't go together well. The maker should invest in better quality nuts and bolts. So happy it's done!!!
Great features
After an extensive review of swing sets the backyard sky fort 2 seemed to have the best reviews and best fit for our daughter and also reasonably priced. We are very pleased with it and our 2 1/2 yo daughter loves her new swingset. We had a company put it together for us and they had it done in 1 day. Everything seems solid enough... after a couple of weeks we’ve noticed a few of the boards warping, some cracked or starting “peeling". We were never made aware that you have to apply a sealant on it. Had we known this it could’ve been avoided. We did contact backyard and they shipped out replacements boards. Other than this, we would recommend this swingset. It has a great variety of stuff to play on!
The good, the bad, and the ugly
Background info: I have 2 girls, ages 7 and 4, and had been thinking of purchasing a swing set for a while. I finally decided to do so with my husband leaving for a deployment to try to keep the kids distracted while he is gone. The good.... - My kids love it. - This is one of the few sets with monkey bars and and has several other great features like the crow's nest. - The clubhouse is really spacious. - Not very expensive for such a large set. The bad.... - It's not expensive; so if you are looking for something long-term, this might not be it. The other reviews clued me in as to how soft and thin the wood is, but I was still a little surprised as to the extent. A neighbor's toddler hit the wood with a stick, and it left dents. Also, the surface (maybe just stain?) was peeling off from day 1, so I had to tell the kids not to pull it apart. The ugly.... - I purchased installation given my husband's deployment and thinking it would be easier that way. I'm not sure if this is the norm, but it took 6.5 weeks from the time of delivery until installation was complete. The first team said my yard wasn't level enough (looked fine until they brought out the line level) and that I needed 500 lbs of fill dirt. I got the dirt that day (even after they tried to say that little old me couldn't possibly pick up the 40-lb bags of dirt myself) and put it in the area they designated. For the next scheduled install appointment, a different team showed up and seemed to think the ground was fine. They couldn't finish due to missing parts and had to come back a week later when the pieces arrived. And now that it's complete, I think the extra dirt actually brought the clubhouse higher than the swing arm, so I'm expecting structural issues down the road. - The set has been installed less than 2 months, and it already has mildew. I know it needs to be sealed, but that seems excessively fast. Bottom line: Your kids will love it. You may or may not. Just know what you're getting into.
So much fun!
I chose this swingset because it has a glider, a 5 ft deck and a swing beam higher than 7'. My kids love playing on it and even my 10 year old will play pirate with his little sisters because the crows nest is pretty awesome. The slide feels flimsy but its fun and does not get hot in the sun. The monkey bars are set a bit high, but the kids do not seem to be deterred. My only disappointment is that the swings are set too close together and the kids have bumped on occasion, which lessens the fun of the set. An extra few inches would have made a world of a difference.
Be Prepared to work
I bought this swing set just before Memorial Day and planned 2 full days to set it up with my Dad. After sending me a duplicate of one of the 4 boxes I ended up finishing the project 2 weeks later as parts came in. :( Thankfully Sam's Club was pretty awesome about the whole deal and gave me a 20% rebate since it was a pretty big mistake. Be prepared to work hard as this is a ton of wood and hardware! Approx 1000lbs of materials in 4 separate boxes - plus the slide. The directions were very clear and the wood was all individually stamped. All the wood was of high quality and only one floor board had some minor warping. The hardware was well made. Two tips before you decide to build: 1. Make sure the ground is level BEFORE you build 2. If you get easily frustrated with projects, save yourself the frustration and pay someone to build it! That being said I didn't mind the build, and my kids LOVE this swing set. Best Wishes!
Great Swing project
The Skyfort kit makes a very sturdy swing set. Take the time to do a complete inventory before starting the project. We were short 1 board and had one split board. The company had the boards to us in two days. Put all the hardware in plainly labeled bags or containers. Read the instructions through before starting, then read a couple of steps ahead before assembling the one you are on so you will know what goes next and how it fits. It took us 4 hours to inventory and blue tape boards and four days to build it. We had 3 cordless drills and used them all constantly. We tightned most bolts and lag screws by hand to prevent crushing wood. When finished it is very sturdy and the kids love it. My wife and I built it for grandkids at their house, and we are not pros, so you can do it!
Thank you for your 5-star review.
love this playset!
Our two girls (ages 2 and 4) love this playset! It has everything we wanted and they won't outgrow it anytime soon. Although it was a lot of work to put together (took me and my father-in-law about 2 FULL days, working pretty much nonstop), it was well worth it. We didn't see any others that even compared to this and we did a LOT of research. And the customer service was great, we had a few imperfect boards and they shipped us new ones, free of charge, right away!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this a few months ago. Great features. Definitely takes a few days to put it together and you have to pay attention to the direction of the boards. We put a sealant on it after we put it together but would imagine it being easier to deal before putting together
